Christine Michael = DID NOT PLAY.

That's 4 DNPs in 5 games.

His only game time has been in a blowout with all the subs against Jax.

is it safe to say at this point that Turbin firmly entrenched as next in line for this year at least? Micheal seems hard to hold in redraft unless large league and deep bench.

Redraft I cut him in the one league I had him. Dynasty he's obviously a hold or maybe a buy, but outside of a Lynch injury I have a hard time thinking he'll do anything this season.

Or next season. Seriously, what's the chances he has a different role next year?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with Turbin.

I really don't know much about Michael. Why is it assumed he's the guy to own for dynasty purposes?

If Michael's clearly the more talented back, when should we expect Carroll to start showing he feels the same way? 5 games isn't a large sample, obviously, but it's not like Turbin is a vet with loads of experience.

As someone that's pretty ignorant of the situation, I'd think that if Carroll was terribly enamored with Michael, he'd be getting some touches by now (and if not by now, very, very soon).

Turbin was a rookie last year. He had 24 touches through the 1st 5 games. That was with veteran Leon Washington in the mix.

Just curious from those that know more than me.

I drafted Michael as a handcuff to Lynch. Dropped him for Turbin after Week 2. Who knows what would happen if Lynch went down, but Turbin looks like the guy to have at this point.

If Lynch went down, Michael would be active. Turbin would start, but Michael would play, The week after that Michael would start and Turbin would play.

Michael hasn't been more involved because what he offers is pretty redundant with what Seattle already has in Lynch. Turbin is a better pass protector, more experienced with the system, and a decent safety valve on passing downs (though Michael will probably be better in that regard eventually).

If Lynch were to get injured, Seattle would suddenly need another dynamic runner to take his place. That would be Michael.

Turbin is just a replacement level runner. Very ordinary. No moves and no real ability to create yards.

The difference in talent between the two players is glaring:

Michael is also a better athlete and a higher draft pick. There's really no reason to think Turbin would keep him on the pine if Seattle needed a new bell cow.

I think the conventional wisdom here is that Michael is a superior talent to Turbin. That if Lynch went down they both might see snaps but Michael would do more with his snaps, thusly be given more playing time.

(Redraft as OP mentioned) I agree with a couple of posters that Michael sits because he is the direct backup to Lynch while Turbin plays a complementary position. Should Lynch go down, I'd want to own Michael.

(Dynasty) Looking ahead to 2014 and beyond, I'd be buying Michael if any owners were selling (I know of none that are).

Even with Lynch questionable, they wont get CM any field time with the game in question.

If Turbin makes mistakes like he did at the end of the half today then maybe he will fall out if favor.

It's a waiting game. If you drafted him, hopefully you did your homework and weren't expecting immediate dividends. If you don't have him, maybe throw out some feelers to see if his owner is frustrated...

Was that in passing situations/formations?

It was a pass to Turbin but I don't think it was an obvious passing down. Turbin's mistake was game/cloc mgmt
I have seen this play referenced a few times. What happened?
40 it so seconds left, Deattle had one timeout. Turbin caught a first down pass near the sideline and didn't go out of bounds. Maybe he couldn't, but with the hurry up to spike they never showed a replay. From my view it looked like he turned upfield and could've gotten put. Having to rush everything after that and losing a TO on a false start from the next play (I think) led to the disaster FG. Just handled it badly and if Turbin went out, they wouldn't have had to rush

I don't disagree that Turbin could have gone out of bounds on his own. That said, I don't think it was a big deal at all. Neither was the false start forcing them to blow a timeout. Neither was the delay getting the ball back to the official before the spike. None of that mattered IMO. The blown field goal was flukish.

I don't think Turbin did anything that's going to come close to jeopardizing his role as Lynch's current backup.

EDIT: Just watched Wilson's press conference. Turbin didn't get the ball quickly back to the ref and Wilson grabbed it and tried to get it to the ref. Much ado about nothing. Ball was clocked and then the field goal was flubbed.

Doesn't Lynch still have a DUI that the NFL is going to deal with next season? That, when combined with his salary and mileage relative to Michael, and Michael's strong showing in the preseason, give me the feeling 2014 is Michael's year. If Lynch starts the season on suspension and Michael is ready to go, I wonder if the Seahawks might prefer to spend their Lynch money a little differently.

The Lynch owner in our contract league is offering me Lynch for Gio Bernard and my first round pick next year. The problem is that I can only keep Lynch through the 2014 season and I can give Bernard whatever contract I want. The Michael owner though is throwing a wrench into my plan as he won't trade him to me and I think I only want Lynch if I can have Michael.

Most of what I've read about his DUI points to, and some have been rather adamant about it, him not likely at all to be suspended. Sort of a loophole being that this falls under substance abuse, not personal conduct and his previous issues in Buf were never officially classified as alcohol related. So it would be his first offense in substance abuse and basically just a warning and a fine. The vast majority opinion seems to be that there'll be no suspension. Could easily be wrong but if it's that slanted towards no suspension and he actually does get suspended, it'll probably be on the light side, like 1 game.

Pro Tip: You are rostering him in the event of a Lynch injury. To date Lynch has played in all games. Don't expect points out of him unless there is an injury. If there is he is the back to own.

I'm screwed I may have to cut Michael because we can only carry 5 Rbs. My RBs are Spiller,Moreno,Ridley,AbrownIR,Wilson IR,Steven Jackson and Michael. Once Brown or Wilson comes back I will have to cut someone and Right now it looks like its gonna be Michael even tho I drafted him for $1 and can keep him for 4 with that Cap. I'm 4-1 and I'm in the playoff race do I worry about next year or do I try to win it this year.

I would cut Brown instead. You will still have Spiller, Moreno, Ridley and Jackson to rely on.

Turbin is going to get the bulk of the carries and first shot in that situation.

Maybe he will fail or maybe Michael will then start to shine in limited touches and overtake Turbin.

And if the "talent" wins out, I dont think anyone will be surprised. Even if takes only 1 game.

But the team is flatly not using CM as a primary back up currently.

Whatever the "primary back up" means... You put too much emphasis on Michael NOT playing. I see Seattle as a SB caliber team with a top notch RB and a good backup. They didn't (and still don't) NEED Michael. Yet they thought enough to draft him in the second round. He was always a long term prospect and only a Lynch Injury was going to change that. Nothing has changed and Seattle remains a talented team that doesn't need to rush a rookie into a situation.

Major leagues v. minor leagues - He gets NO action for a reason - figure it out. Michael is really dumb. He has trouble with the playbook.

Your insinuation that Michael becomes a bell cow if Lynch gets hurt was doubted by some, including me, early. Turbin can and will get heavily involved with this team if needed..You are stubbornly oblivious to the obviousness of it all.

Eh, let him do it. It really means nothing unless Lynch gets hurt because neither Michael or Turbin are going to get significant carries with him healthy. Besides, it will actually make it sweeter if the unfortunate should come about and he's been bumping this all year and chest thumping.

Steelers suck so he has nothing to do. Regardless he is still wrong.

I actually liked Turbin okay in the draft. The reality is that Michael is just a much better runner.

I think most people who actually follow the Seahawks and watch the games will back me up on this.

Aside from speculating about Lynch's salary and if/when he'll be forced to restructure or be cut, what are the chances that he misses some games next year and how many might he miss?

Here's the info on his DUI case -- found an article that says a motion to suppress evidence was pushed from July to November 1. There's a chance motion practice could be over and the case could go to trial in 1st half 2014. If he gets convicted, or if the league otherwise decides to suspend him, that would not be his 1st time. So I'm thinking 6-8 games, with the league saying one way or the other next summer. It's actually pretty brilliant that he's going to trial, and his lawyers are dragging ###, requesting delays, etc. to push off any suspension as long as possible, so he can make money now. Any other sane person would plea out and avoid potential jail time and thousands of dollars in legal fees.

His supsensions fell under two different categories. Guns =/= Alchohol.

2 games is what he will get. Stop freakin, call beacon.

Well, they're all vehicle related - hitting that lady, the gun charge was from a traffic stop, and now the DUI. Can the league not aggregate that?

If not, it would mean a player 1 x suspensions for a weed test, PED violation, a gun charge, and a DUI would face the minimum for each.... I'm inclined to think Gooddell would think otherwise.

I am a Seattle homer and while I don't doubt that Michael may become heavily utilized in the future, you're habit of talking down Turbin's abilities are off target. Michael has a few more NFL carries than DNP's; this is a pretty big factor to completely ignore while speculating he gets 20+ carries a game if Lynch were to be hurt this season.

One is substance one is conduct. Its part of the NFLPA agreement with the NFL. Two separate and Goodell can't increase one based on the other.

I'm in 8 leagues right now and only 1 of them is redraft. My care level on Michael's redraft value is about a 0.

Having said that, I don't think you can read that much into the DNPs. Last season everyone thought Moreno was behind Hillman on the Broncos depth chart because he was active on gamedays and Moreno wasn't. When McGahee went down, Moreno took over his role. I think if Lynch went down, you'd see something like a 50/50 split to start out, with Michael eventually distancing himself from Turbin based on merit. I don't hate Turbin, but IMO he's a replacement level NFL runner. Nothing special at all.

Michael has shown flashes of being an above average runner. Long term, I think he's clearly the Lynch replacement.

Same points I've been rehashing for months now, but people keep kicking this dead horse.
