My take from last nights Dallas rushing performance was that none of these guys are great "between the tackles" runners. I was pleasantly surprised with how much Dunbar was used in the passing game. That seems to be where Randle is at his best too......Hell, DMC too. All three are prolly best used as situational backs.........I think CMike is gonna have an great opp. to steal the show. We need someone who's more of a bruiser like Murray was. I think people forget that Murray was a battering ram last season. Its not like he was running untouched through huge holes all the time. Dallas wants to pound the rock. Defenses know its coming a lot of the time. That's where a bruiser comes in.Wouldn't be so sure of that just yet. Randle didn't really stand out. He has some burst and the line generally blocked well, but I don't know that he adds a lot of value himself and I think the NFL what separates starters from most backups is the ability to get yards that aren't blocked for them. Randle's ability to do that will probably determine how long he keeps his job. There were quite a few plays last night where I couldn't help but wonder how Michael would have fared with the same conditions. On the other hand, Randle and Dunbar both might be better pass catchers.Randle looked good. DMC looked like a competent backup. Dunbar looked great as the passing down back.
Is there room for CMike? Doesn't look like it.
Unfortunately, it looks like we'll all be stashing CMike until an injury occurs or DAL faces a great run defense. Which won't be for a handful of weeks.
The Dez injury is an interesting wrinkle. It could put more pressure on the backs. It could not only increase Dallas's reliance on the run, but may also result in more run-stopping attention from defenses, which would stress the backs more and expose their weaknesses to a greater degree. If you think Michael is the most talented of the bunch, that may accelerate his path to significant PT. I won't panic for a while as far as his PT is concerned, but if he's not getting snaps by the week after the bye then it's probably a decisive sign that he's not showing anything in practices and/or that the coaches rate the other backs higher.
Right now I would say it's a week-to-week situation where he could be active/inactive on any given Sunday and it wouldn't be a surprise.
