I completely expect a "holding steady" or "upgrade" for Michael in this weeks upgrades/downgrades. Absolutely a joke.

When your "sleeper" pick doesn't work out you really need to just save face and say, yeah I was wrong
Looks like they may have been right.

certainly in the mix to possibly be active doesn't even ensure he'll get a touch, let alone be active. Not trying to be negative and it seems as if the needle is off zero but seems there's still a good bit of work to do. I know things change quickly though and all it may take is a couple plays.

Right in the mix of the handful of players who are discussed to be active on game day, not necessarily in the carry mix.

Does he do special teams? Is he possible to do KO returns?

I just want to see this guys get some carries. If he doesn't set himself apart from the other fodder in this Dallas backfield, I can simply cut him and be done with it. However, until that point, I can't really bring myself to let him go.

I doubt they have would activate him unless they plan to give him some touches. He does not play special teams.

It's been said but if he does get in it could be for short yardage work. Randle owners maybe should be more encouraged by the two short TDs than the long runs, but he also failed on a crucial 3rd & 1.

Randle owners should be encouraged that Randle can get 1 yard when everything is blocked perfectly and cannot get one yard when he has to break a tackle. Lol.

I don't see how CMike won't be active this Sunday night with the Saints who are giving up 126 rushing yards per game and based on the offensive coordinator's comment below. Unless they want more of the same with Randle and McFad. The game script says to run the ball and limit Weeden to being a game manager. Deploy a ball control game against that poor rushing defense to chew clock and keep away from Brees.

Scott Linehan suggested Christine Michael a more physical runner who might succeed with stacked boxes thwarting run game without Romo

Well that's not exactly what he said. Here is the entire Linehan conversation that has twitter all abuzz atm. Listen carefully. It's the only information that should be cited.

Bottom line, Linehan said the decision would be made tomorrow or Saturday. I'm still guessing he doesn't dress and anticipating much grinding of teeth. :)

degree of confidence about 65%.

So how do we rate the home run rbs for season long impact? Not so much for his week but for rest of season value.

- C. Michael - see last 107 pages of the thread

- K. Williams - talented but shady makes a lot of money and could revert back to top 5 status if he gets healthy

- Hillman - Kubrick offense and CJA could be benched

- Rawls - good team and looks to have skills.

- Spiller - shown he can do it and now healthy with a creative coaching staff.

- anyone else I am forgetting
David Johnson?

Without making any comment on Michael whatsoever, think about how absurd that line really is: "certainly in the mix to possibly be active" - it actually means nothing. A RB that is on the roster is in consideration to maybe be active for a game.

I'm high on Matt Jones and David Johnson. But Matt Jones in behind a terrible O-line and DJ has a coach that won't put the ball in a rookie's hands consistently.

CMike probably has more upside than either of those two if he's actually active in any given week.

Don't act surprised. This ENTIRE thread is based on hypotheticals. Here is where you come to make something from nothing! Christine baby!!!

Agreed. I'm sticking with my initial guess of 1st game out of the bye being the greatest likelihood of Michael seeing first the active roster.

"Christine Michael In the Mix To be On Cowboys' Active Roster"

"It feels good," Michael said Thursday. "First-team reps always feel good. Just looking to go in there and help contribute as much as possible. It's outstanding to get those reps and I feel good about it.

"Physically I feel like I've been ready. It's a lot of plays. I had to get my plays down, which have been coming along pretty well. Study pretty much every day. I get in my books every day. But for the most part, man, just looking to go out there and have fun."

"He's making a lot of progress," Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said of Michael. "We've been giving him a few more reps this week to see how he's doing. I think he's doing a great job.

"We're excited to see in the future here, I don't know how near that is, we make those decisions in the upcoming days, of when he can get his first action. We're excited to have him."

What's wrong with you?
Yes, georg013, you're on the verge of joining Banzinga in being kicked out of this thread for good.

I'm sure many of the people coming in here have no special feelings about Michael and didn't even follow the thread when he was behind Lynch. He's just one more option that the combination of situation and potential makes him fit in one of their last roster spots. They want news and meaningful opinions, not childish crowing.

You don't need to have a high opinion of Michael to post in here. But you do need to contribute something more constructive than needling and laughing at CM owners. And should Michael ever start and become elite, drowning out useful posts with I-told-you-so's back the other direction will not be welcomed either.

If he is active, he should touch the ball at least 1 or 2x... Looking back, Randle/DMC/Dunbar have all at least recorded a carry or catch in every game.

I can't see Dunbar being inactive as he is their pass catcher, so either DMC is inactive or they carry 4 backs - I can't see the odds of this over 50%.

Nonetheless, encouraging.

I'm prob keeping him on my bench for at least another month just on this :kicksrock:

So is DMC the most likely to be inactive?

I could easily see C-Mike exploding on his first few touches and never looking back. I'm sure he feels he has a lot to prove after getting traded by Seattle, and he'll take it out on opposing defenses.

Nice

Ughh. I seriously need a good wildcard to stash on my bench.. Is it worth grabbing him and dropping Rawls? I'm not a Lynch owner, just wanted someone that could possibly break out due to injury.

I would give C-Mike a better chance at breaking out due to the quality of player ahead of them.
Good point. Although If Lynch's injury lingers and appears more serious than what's being talked about, and Rawls does become a legitimate starter..I'd never forgive myself. Being winless through 3 games is tough haha.

Just when I was making up my mind to drop CM to pick up a week 5 bye week qb he looks like he might get a shot. Dang. To have or not have.

Get hyped:

http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-corner-blog/article37257597.html

IRVING Roughly four weeks after coming to the Dallas Cowboys in a trade from the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 6, former Texas A&M star Christine Michael might finally be added to the mix at running back.

Michael has received reps with the starters in practice this week for the first time and is being prepped for game-day duty Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

The Cowboys still have not made a final decision and are looking for ways to take four running backs to the game so Michael can join Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Darren McFadden on the 46-man roster.

“We’re always keeping competition for the playing time,” offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said. “We decide tomorrow, at the latest, Saturday, what we’ll do. He’s been getting a few more reps this week in practice with the first group, so that’s good to see him work with our first group and other guys. He’s making a lot of progress. I think he is doing a great job.”

Michael spent the first few weeks learning the offense and running with the scout team. He has remained patient but also eagerly waiting for his number to be called.

“It feels good. First-team reps always feel good,” Michael said. “Just looking to go in there and help contribute as much as possible. It’s outstanding to get those reps and I feel good about it. Physically I feel like I’ve been ready. It’s a lot of plays. I had to get my plays down, which have been coming along pretty well. Study pretty much every day. I get in my books every day. But for the most part, man, just looking to go out there and have fun.”

The decision to possibly add Michael to the mix at running back is not because the Cowboys are unhappy with the production they are getting from Randle, McFadden and Dunbar. It’s because at 5-foot-10, 221 pounds, Michael brings size and a physical style the others don’t possess.

And considering the eight- and nine-man fronts the Cowboys are expecting to get with backup quarterback Brandon Weeden in for an injured Tony Romo _ a situation that limited the offense in the second half of last Sunday’s 39-28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons _ Michael could serve as a hammer for the box defenses.

“I think he brings a different style,” running back coach Gary Brown said. “He is more a short squatty, power-type back with good feet and good explosion. You would like to have a guy with that type of build to take on that eighth man to make him miss or run over him. If you are a good running team, you are going to get eight in the box. You got to be able to have that back to make that guy miss. It will be a nice little mix for us.”
Sounds like he might play. Nationally televised game too. :drive:

If he dresses, Id guess they make Whitehead inactive and dress all 4 RB's with Dunbar seeing more reps split out.

Doesn't matter ... now we know that he is coming soon.

It also sound like they are not too happy with Randle's 1 or less yds on 65% of his carries despite the few big runs

I agree. I think the Saints he might get some action. But let's face it, he's going to be active for garbage time in the New England game at home the following week. They are going to get housed. He's going to have one of those 12-75 games and score late. Then they go into the bye and emerge with Michael as the starter.

And he's going to get better when they get Romo and Dez back.

Sounds to me like they are really down on Randle. They have always wanted Michael and now they have their back of the present and future. Once he gets his first carry it will be over for all the running backs on the roster. He is that good. Seattle is going to regret letting an all pro go.

Well lets be honest, being willing to risk Weeden with Michael at RB is far more palatable then risking Tony Romo or Russell Wilson.

Getting him into the game also lets them decide if they even want to keep him around or recoup their conditional draft pick.

Stop it. You are talking about Christine like he is some kind of 7th round experimental player. This guy is a combine legend. We are looking at the next starter in Dallas. All he needs is a shot.

Lots of wishful thinking about a player who hasn't done anything in their first 2 years in the league that was traded for a peanut.

How much would Demarco Murray have done if he had been in Seattle the last two years?
