They still have 3 playable RB's. Could see them going after Forte, but price probably too high and Jerry has surprisingly been more disciplined with draft picks and trades lately.

Hey, I have been holding on to cmike for a few weeks - but it sounds like they don;t have any confidence to call his number.

That's a good starting point. Everyone would tell you a month ago that CM had far more upside than Rawls...It doesn't matter how many people I name, though. CM backers will argue his upside is higher than anyone.

Basically, if you've held to now, I think there's no harm in holding for another week or two, roster space permitting (this was always going to be a multi week proposition anyway). Randle/McFadden didn't do anything tonight to further separate themselves or make it impossible for Michael to get on the field. On the other hand, if you weren't on board before this, tonight gave you no reason really to think anything will come of this.

decent chance people passed on Williams, Rawls, CJ, MJOnes, etc tying up roster space with this guy. I had him as a lottery ticket untila few weeks ago. His talent hasn't been able to move him past third on the depth chart in 2+ years. Low floor, low ceiling IMO

Well yeah, but is he he a good enough pass blocker? He looked OK in Seattle during the pre season against KC. If he could catch in space could be very dynamic, but wonder if McFadden would get that job.

Dallas has a lot of sorting out to do, but sure he would move up some. It's not like McFadden has been there a long time either.

How this shakes out is anyones guess though.

I dropped Martin already owning CMike in one league, needed a bye week fill-in. Guy who I played this week picked up Martin and immediately started him. Lost by 3 points to that guy this week.

I had to laugh when Michael got in there, I was calling out the play but everyone knew he was getting it. How obvious was that. The Saints run D really was good last night, the biggest plays were early. The Michael fail on 3rd was huge.

Longtime believer in the physical tools, but if the Cowboys don't give him some run next week or Week 7 after the bye there's just something wrong with the guy.

 
The tone has really changed in here. Im not here to say I told you so because I unloaded Randle. He looks average to me. But average is better than CMike. Lol.

 
Randle is a HR hitter. Shouldnt be an every down back. This should be an RBBC. But really, until Romo comes back do you even want a piece of this offense?

Most any back would have lost yardage on that play.

CMike on the other hand was almost right back at the line of scrimmage..

Next up is NE. (Defenders will be looking to stop big plays)

The RB is gonna have room to run...

Michael owner here but let's recap last night... Randle is No. 1 but seems they weren't so happy with him after his fumble/td as he rarely saw field after that even after Dunbar injury... Dunbar injury looks terrible and I feel bad for the guy... Interesting that McFadden was the KR after that as he is already injury prone... I suspect next week lucky whitehead is KR... Randle and McFadden will handle most RB touches but in a blowout they will throw Michael in there to see what they have... I'm calling 8-10 touches in a blowout loss

If for some ridiculous reason the game is close then I suspect he may see 1 or 2 touches cause coach Ronald McDonald is not too trusting that he is completely up to speed yet

Caveat: if Ronald mcD feels pressure to produce early he may give Michael a bigger piece that had been intended for Randle... It will be interesting to see what McD says this week to the media

I don't see how anything has changed with his status but a lot of people are acting like we now have some clarity based on one run. Sadly some people are going about it in a not excellent manner as well. It makes little sense to me.

If anything the takeaway right now is that with Dunbar injured Michael will likely be active and get a few more opportunities. It would be foolish to start him next week against New England though.

 
I also think we all may be underestimating the impact of losing Bill Callahan to Washington this off season. The guy is one of the better offensive line coaches in the league.

Agree. With no Dunbar, he should see a little opportunity over the next couple of games. If he is as talented as the hype, hopefully he can carve a bigger slice of the pie.

I prefer the low floor guy to the high ceiling guy. To each his own

 
I think the case since he was traded to Dallas has always been that we won't know anything until after the bye week at the earliest.

Nothing has changed on that front except Dallas now has a need for him to be active on gameday.

 
Not sure it matters who the RB is if Weeden cant keep them honest. Entire Saints team was on the line of scrimmage last night. Weeden took them by surprise with the deep pass he connected on.

Agreed. Outside of the 3 big runs by Randle last week, his last 22 carries have gone for 28 yards. Teams know Weeden isn't a threat and are daring him to beat them. Hard to get much going in the running game until Romo/Dez are back and make defenses back off the line.

I was starting to fear this as well but everything I have read and heard about Callahan is that they couldn't get him out of the building fast enough. I heard that if you went around and asked all the players and coaches who was doing all the work that they would say it's the current guy who's there now.

Just repeating what I heard on the podcasts over the past year and a half.

Yeah, that makes three of us -- I was fairly surprised that he was active at all this early, personally. I was expecting that to happen after the bye, with a slow phasing in (assuming he played fairly well). The fact that he was active at all this early is a (+) sign IMO (albeit a minor one), as they pretty much cost themselves a 7th to do so, thus they must at least see something of value there. The folks basing a conclusion that he's garbage on one carry are as ridiculous as the folks that were calling him a guaranteed stud based on a few preseason carries a year or two ago. Michael just is what he is at this point -- a guy with great athletic ability that might or might not put it together and develop into a good NFL RB. The tale will be told over the months remaining in the season, not on one carry in his first game action of the year.

 
I picked up CMike last week on the news that he would be active for this game. I don't have any opinion about his talent level, I'm just looking at the opportunity which will likely go up now that Dunbar is hurt. I'm not predicting anything at all - just holding to see what happens. But he did look pretty bad on that one carry - running into the side/back of a NO defender :lol:

If you take away APs best three runs last week he didn't have a good week either. Not saying Randle is the same as AP, rather pointing out how awful of an argument that is. When you cherry pick your stats where does it stop? "If you take away his ten best runs he is stick with a 5/10 performance, not good". Come on...
