Ciatrick Fason / Mewelde Moore (1 Viewer)

I think it is pretty obvious that these two guys (along with Pinner) are sitting well behind Chester and AD. With that said who has the most value next year and down the road. Assuming they both make the Vikings this year (Moore is a valuable special teams player) they will both be Free Agents next year.

Who has more talent and will get a look in the Free Agent Market next year (if not this year if they get cut)?

I would think Moore would draw some interest. He had a 3 game stretch as a rookie in 2004 where he had a total of 55 carries for 339 yards (6 YPC), and added 24 catches for 198 yards. This was in 3 games. In 2005, he had 662 yards rushing and 37 catches for 339 yards.

He has had a lot of injuries and seemed to be in the doghouse. He has played well at times and I would think someone would take a look. His contract expires after this season too.

I think Moore could be a pretty good player if he would play with pain. He absolutely will not play with any kind of pain.

Right on man.Mewelde has game. He shows it on his returns and he showed it in the limited time when he was out of Tice's doghouse in 2004 and 2005. There were instances last season when I thought for sure that he would get mixed in with Taylor quite a bit more, but Childress must haev been thinking differently. And like Johnny already pointed out, either he's fragile, or just can't handle even a part-time workload. It seems clear that he would have won out in the whole Bennett-Moore-Onterrio mess that was the Vikes' ground game in 2004, but Tice seemed to give up on him when he took too long to come back from an ankle sprain. And as for Fason, he's an upright runner that never seems to get away from anyone. He just looks slow. He was somewhat effective as a short-yardage guy, but I'd be suprised if he makes any kind of impact, even as a backup, with anyone.

I wouldn't give up on either just yet. Moore has the most value right now, but it isn't much.

You never know though, if one were to sign with Indy next season to back up Addai, he'd have much more immediate value.

I absolutely LOVE Mewelde but he doesn't seem to have the heart to be an NFL player. He could be good (and I think REALLY good) if he had a heart, but I don't think he does right now. He could finally figure it out someday, but not sure if he will. I like him better than a third round rookie WR (fantasy rookie 3rd round) because he does have upside, but he won't be any good unless he can figure IT out.

Edited to add: I don't think Fason is any good.

I'm a Florida fan, and even I don't have much hope for Fason ever amounting to much in the NFL. I am, however, a fan of stashing MeMo and seeing what comes of it. It's a nice low cost, high reward move.

I agree with most of your thoughts. I think at this point that Moore is the more valuable guy to hold onto since he has produced in limited opportunities and is valuable in the return game.

Hopefully he will get a shot next year to sign where he can get on the field.

With Fason being cut is there a chance he can catch on somewhere else and have some value?
Big knock on him coming out of college was that he was VERY raw. I think someone might take a chance on him, but he's far from a polished product. He might bounce to a team or two, but I doubt he makes any waves at this point.
