i'm sorry but maybe last year he had an excuse but he knew he had a shot to be the bell cow and he comes into the season chubby and slow?he looked chubby and slow, same issue he had to start last season before he got into game shape. i think he is a great buy low from panicking owners after he struggles against the chiefs.
Can't believe you rubes and considering drafting this ham & egger in the first round
should have made this font 38 for me. I drafted him. At least I get Foster back soonCan't believe you rubes and considering drafting this ham & egger in the first round![]()
super. Can't even trade him nowI'm reading that Anderson sprained his toe.
Not excusing Anderson's performance - he looked much more plodding and less aggressive than Hillman, who was obviously more effective. But RD does correctly point out one mitigating factor -- that D-line was really stout and clogging up the middle gaps where Anderson was running.CJ Anderson just played the top rated rush defense from last season. Let's not panic, folks.
Meh. The O line "revamp" is brutal. Not excusing Anderson's performance - he looked much more plodding and less aggressive than Hillman, who was obviously more effective. What does Suggs injury have to do with anything???? And Hillman was getting plenty of snaps before that, including most of the snaps to start the 2nd half. And saying he is the most proven isnt saying much at all. CJ has less than 200 career carries. He's had one really good stretch of 6 or 7 games and only got that opportunity after injuries to Ball and Hillman.Hillman came into the game after Suggs went down. Let's not read too much into this. CJ is still the most proven RB on the roster.
Baltimore dominated the line of scrimmage and you certainly have to factor in that this performance was against a very good D. But there is a lot to be concerned about beyond just his poor stats. He gave away A LOT more snaps to Hillman than a true bellcow would. And a lot of his value this year was b/c there were indications he would be used as a true bellcow. Not excusing Anderson's performance - he looked much more plodding and less aggressive than Hillman, who was obviously more effective. That may have been the story back in July, but Hillman looked pretty good in preseason action. To me it reads simply like a case of a guy that earned more carries based on work put in.What does Suggs injury have to do with anything???? So the snap distribution, the lack of production, Hillman doing more with his carries, the poor offensive line play, Peyton's continued decline, and now the sprain toe.
A LOT to be concerned about here folks.
That's likely true but matters little now to Anderson owners and the price paid to get him. That may have been the story back in July, but Hillman looked pretty good in preseason action. Baltimore was the #1 run D last year according to PFF. To me Peyton's decline means they'll need to lean on the run game more. What does Suggs injury have to do with anything???? They both looked like #### to me.their line looked awful, cj had no where to go, and somehow hillman looked decisive and was more productive.
I agree about not getting carried away after one game, but it's clear that the Denver o-line is mediocre at best and Anderson looks slow and barely resembles the guy I saw running possessed the end of last year. To boot, he incurred some sort of toe/foot injury and Hillman looked so much better. I don't own him, but would definitely not be happy. Manning looked horrible and should have called it quits after last year's end of the season debacleCJ Anderson just played the top rated rush defense from last season. Let's not panic, folks.
You guys are missing the pout a bout Manning's ineptitude, coupled with a below average line.Let's not overreact to one game against a top rushing defense.
Hillman did look more explosive, even before the injury. If Anderson misses time, this could end up a 50-50 RBBC, but it's way too early to conclude it will happen. And it's not like Hillman hadn't had his chances repeatedly before. Last year he was thoroughly outplayed.
The bigger concern for me should be the inept passing game (as predicted). Hard to support a top rusher - no matter who - when opposing defenses don't respect your deep threats.
I would want to trade for another week one under performer who I thought had a better chance to bounce back, like aj green or LeSean mccoy. But as a Mccoy and green owner I wouldn't give either for him. I might offer a couple mid tier prospects for him - guys like stevie Johnson or joique bell, although the specific names aren't the point. But I don't think the cj owner would take that. What would you want for him if you owned him right now? What kind of offer would you turn down?
What would you offer for him right now? What would be too much?
Well that's kind of the point. The whispers should have been there. Seemed like a pretty deep pool of RB's this year... no need to burn a 1st rounder on a guy that got outplayed by his understudy in preseason. That's likely true but matters little now to Anderson owners and the price paid to get him. That may have been the story back in July, but Hillman looked pretty good in preseason action. and you say this after 1 week of football? Wish you were in my league,so I could trade with you.One of the easier calls of the year, along with Forsett. I can't believe the 'experts' had this guy rated as high as they did.
I don't think Kubiak cares about what Denver did before this year, and certainly Forsett brought less staying power to Baltimore last year before people believed what their eyes were seeing. Hillman did alright with his 20+ carry games last year. And I don't think Thompson is a threat to take significant carries if Anderson were out.Hillman has always flashed / looked good on COP carries, that's nothing new -- and Denver has never really seemed to want to give him more than the COP role.
Spoken like a true Broncos fanIT'S ONE GAME! Remember how the sky was falling on the Pats last year in KC? Everyone said it was the end of a dynasty. A flat-out disaster. Then what happened? One of the best offenses in the league after that. And a SB ring.
It's early. It was a bad game. Against a great defense.
The sky is not falling. On CJ or Peyton or that O-line.
At least they won unlike the Ravens, Seahawks or Colts.Spoken like a true Broncos fanIT'S ONE GAME! Remember how the sky was falling on the Pats last year in KC? Not a Broncos fan, just a CJ owner who fears he dumped his 1st round pick. But again, CJ did not look like a backup to me.Spoken like a true Broncos fanIT'S ONE GAME! True then again Ravens have no down field threats. Offensively if they cant run the ball they are gonna struggle. Their WRs are horrible right now. I guess we will see this Thursday. It will be interesting to see how Anderson performs and how Broncos match up against the Chiefs.. cause i dont think anyone is scared of Peyton buring them deep. Which is just gonna bring those safties in and make it harder to run the ballAt least they won unlike the Ravens, Seahawks or Colts.Spoken like a true Broncos fanIT'S ONE GAME! Not really. I think on one sack Hillman was there to block he just got ran over. On another one CJ was in but went out on a pass play, maybe if he was back there he would have helped. The O-line pretty much sucked.CJ owner here. I don't think it's been mentioned, but do any homers know if any of those Manning sacks were due to a missed block by either RB? This would obviously play into the outlook as well.
Well if you were in my league I would sell him. Have him in one and he will be gone by weeks end. He looked slow and once again Hillman looked Superior.Holy cow ... had no idea people would be flipping out today. Buying cheap today if Ican (dynasty).
NFL is a copy cat league. Miami had success with Wildcat so teams put in Wildcat plays. RG3 has a good rookie year everyone is looking for a "running QB".The injury thing is definitely a problem. But that can't be forecast so I don't feel bad about it. The part that bothers me is I bought into the hype around here of people saying Kubiak does not do RBBC. That looked completely false yesterday. I figured if I had CJ and Hillman I was a lock to have a RB1.
We would probably be better off if CJ does have to sit down for a few weeks so we can get full production from one of them.
