Everything I read said not too put corrosive drain cleaner down there.Drano. And I think most have a manual option underneath the unit, use an Allen wrench to manually turn it to loosen it.
Yes but if I can fix it myself I'll do soYou're renting right? Tell the manager to get it fixed.
I did. The only trash I was able to find in their was your face.Try sticking your hand in there and feeling around for the clog.
Yeah do NOT put drano in a disposal. Really bad idea.Everything I read said not too put corrosive drain cleaner down there.
i was able to move the blades with the spoon. The blades are turning.
Source?"The good news is that with the exception of Drano® Kitchen Crystals Clog Remover*, all Drano® products are safe for use in garbage disposals. These products include Drano® Max Gel Clog Remover, Drano® Dual Force™ Foamer, Drano® Prevention and Drano® Liquid Clog Remover."

No. There is standing black water in the sink now.Did you try disconnecting the pipe coming off of it? The elbow right there makes for a nice spot for food to clog in my experience.
I remember this movieNo. There is standing black water in the sink now.
I don't have any plumbing tools at the moment.
If it's plastic pipe, which I imagine it would be, you should only need your bare hands and a bucket.No. There is standing black water in the sink now.

Yep, and if it's buzzing, use an allen wrench like already mentioned. Had this happen to us last night, the allen wrench fixed it.If the disposal doesnt make any noise, go underneath and push in the little button which sometimes trips. Its kind of like a gfci built into the unit.
It runs but the water isn't going down.If the disposal doesnt make any noise, go underneath and push in the little button which sometimes trips. Its kind of like a gfci built into the unit.
Like I said, this means the clog is in the pipes beyond the disposal. Get a bucket and start disconnecting until you find the clog. It's pretty easy and likely won't take you longer than 15 minutes unless the clog is beyond the trap. Just be aware that once the pipes are disconnected all that water in the sink is coming out.It runs but the water isn't going down.

One more question, do you have a single or double basin?
The clog is in the drain pipe. Disconnect it from the disposal and clear the clog.It runs but the water isn't going down.
Going to try drank first because I don't want to break anything. The clog is in the drain pipe. Disconnect it from the disposal and clear the clog.
If the other basin drains then the clog is in that black elbow. That white ring at the bottom of the black elbow is removable with bare hands and there are probably a couple hex bolts holding it into the disposal.Double
heres a pic of the disposal.
i can't get maintenance here on a sunday
the other drain works so I'm assuming it's right at the first bend of the black pipe coming out of it

You literally cannot break anything. You even have a picture of how this all goes back together.Going to try drank first because I don't want to break anything.
im concerned it will corrode the PVC piping though
If this means what I think it does, this could get interesting.Ok
im going to roast this bone first and then check it out
Jesus, dude.Going to try drank first because I don't want to break anything.

Not usually a good idea when renting.Yes but if I can fix it myself I'll do so
True story: I ruined a disposal in an apartment I was renting. Part of a pull tab got stuck under one of the blades. I ended up punching a hole in the side wall of the disposal. Fortunately I knew how to replace one. Probably cost me $40 total. Not usually a good idea when renting.
Didn't know garbage disposals have been around that long.True story: I ruined a disposal in an apartment I was renting. Part of a pull tab got stuck under one of the blades.
