"Cobra Kai" -- The Karate Kid Series sequel (2 Viewers)

Karate Kid will always be near and dear to me..  84' was the best year ever..  I was 12 years old.. had a brand new dirt bike.. spent the Summer riding, playing baseball, swimming in our pool and eating pizza.  Girls were just beginning to interest me and were exotic and exciting creatures (not the soul sucking kind I know now).  It was a magical Summer...

I was always a small kid, prone to getting picked on.. Karate Kid was a huge reason I started Taekwondo... A very cute girl is the reason I stayed with it long enough to get a black belt.

After almost 40 years this series hits the bullseye for me..  Cheesy?  of course..   Sometimes cringe worthy?? Yup..   Absolutely fantastic and a must see??  YES

I am no expert on what miracles push up bras can perform but this was her in season 2.  That is an enormous difference imo from the watermelons she lugged around in season 3.

Maybe that's why she couldn't afford to scrape together rent money - too busy paying off the new bazoombas.

Can I say bazoombas?

Oh, not to mention all the new over the shoulder boulder holders she had to order from Amazon.

Started rewatching the first season with my daughters last night.. Am I wrong or was the homeless woman from the soup kitchen the same one as in season one that told Johnny to get off her curb because she thought he was homeless too?

No you're not wrong. She is a recurring character in the series.

Nice, fun season.  Not my favorite of the 3 but still entertaining.  The show is so unrealistic but I guess that’s what it’s supposed to be.

Binged watched it over the weekend while getting some worked done. Fun watch per usual and I like that they gave Kreese a backstory to explain why he is who he is, liked the call backs to 2 and 3, really liked the way they worked in Ali and the prior Okinawa love interest, etc.

I do admit though - the gratuitous and relatively very serious teenage violence is souring me a bit. Maybe it's my age and because I'm a parent, but wtf are these parents doing letting there kids continue to do karate and get seriously hurt. My kid gets attacked like that and I'm probably changing schools.

One of the very unrealistic parts of the show.  The fight scene at the end of Season 2 and the one in Season 3 were absurdly over the top.  Another unrealistic thing was what they did with Hawk.  Come on now - I'm supposed to believe that?  But still a fun binge show.

Yep. And, of course, the absurd "coolness" of karate (which I do appreciate the show gently poking fun at itself for at the city council open floor session).

I'm midway through Season 2 and my god, this show has no right to kick as much ### as it does.

The fn hawkscreech KILLS me. :lmao:

All caught up on the series.  Loving it.

I haven't rewatched it, so I haven't seen the first season in a couple years now.  Just watched the trailer for the series, and it shows part of the scene where Johnny gets in the fight with the kids in the first episode.  Those kids go on to join Kreese and Cobra Ki in Season 3.  Mind...blown.

The Honest Trailers Youtube series has a blast with your comment tracing the lineage of bullying in the series :)

Johnny would tell you to stop being a #####.  You'll never be Cobra Kai material.

Halfway through Season 3 and still loving the show. Warring tribes of teenage karate kids in the Valley is a little much,  but I can look past it. Fun show

Finished season 3.  To me it was about as good as season two.  Season one was the best.  It's a little cringy how much criminal behavior happens in almost every episode and the only time anything was addressed was Robbie going to the clink.  At least half the cast should be in jail by now.  Getting a little tired of all the heal-turns and vice versa.  Guess that's an easy way to create drama.

I don't mean to bag on it too much, I still enjoy it.  As other's have mentioned, Billy Zabka is the best part of the show.

Johnny is definitely my favorite character. I love Hawk, too.

I still can't believe that Kreese of all people was the only one to successfully interact with the police in the entire series to date.

I brought up this same point earlier in the thread.  No way the police are not involved with parents these days.  Aisha's parents had the right idea.  GTFO.

All of this.

Just watched the original Karate Kid and Karate Kid II with my 8 yo daughter.  She loved them.  I'm so proud.

Watched all the Karate kids with my 10 year old son a couple years ago and he loved them. Begging me to watch Cobra Kai but I don't feel he's old enough for Cobra Kai yet.

Just finished Season 3.  Hawk is a good guy again! Boom! Awesome season finale. Has to be the first time a series like this has ever been done. Bringing back so many original actors from a 35 year old movie is unheard of. So freaking good

I finally watched KK3 again (The movie) I had no memory of how awful that was.  I wanted to re-watch because of the occasional references they make to it.

I watched KK2 between S1 and S2 being aired and bits of it like a couple months back to try and jog memory of something.  It's really underrated.  Watching KK3 made me appreciate KK2 in some ways.

I watched the first half hour or so of KK3 (The movie) over the weekend... that was enough for me to remember the flick.  I just read the rest of the plot on Wiki to fill me in on the details.

“A man can't breathe, he can't fight.”

Love the cringey friend zone crap and Daniel never saying no when it comes to macaroni and cheese!  Oof.

How is this Asian wrestler kid not in prison? Punching a recently paralyzed person in the back over and over is some ruthless ####. Damn
