Luther Burden III

I’m optimistically cautious on Burden. In my model he is coming in outside my top-3 however draft capital will have a big impact.

My reluctance to go all-in on him is the reliance on YAC and unclear ability as a route runner. This skillset does not always translate well to the NFL.

That said, Burden is a dynamic top 2025 wide receiver prospect. As mentioned he is known for his exceptional athleticism and elite playmaking ability after catching the ball.

His physicality allows him to excel both outside and in the slot, making him a versatile threat. However, he needs to refine his route running and consistency against man coverage to reach his full potential.

**Strengths:**
- Exceptional after-the-catch ability
- Good natural athlete with strong ball tracking
- Physical attributes suited for both outside and slot positions
- High impact potential with dynamic playmaking skills
- Tough and resilient, can break tackles

**Weaknesses:**
- Needs improvement in route running
- Inconsistent as a man coverage beater
- Still developing in some technical aspects of the game

**Takeaway:**
Luther Burden has the raw talent to be a significant contributor in the NFL, particularly with his ability to turn short passes into big gains. However, his development in route precision and coverage recognition will be crucial for him to transition from a potential playmaker to a consistent starter.

We may be down on this year’s WR class, but I’ll say Luther Burden III is my WR2, and he’s closer to being my WR1 than he is my WR3…

Recency bias can work both ways.

Don’t sleep on Burden just because of an overall disappointing 2024.

I think hes got some DJ Moore to him. Definitley in contention for WR1

@MattFFDynasty
Yeah that’s exactly the comp I had in my mind too (I hate making comps 😂)

Luther Burden III = Percy Harvin 2.0

⁃ ONLY 5-Star Recruit/Early-Declare in the 2025 Class (other than Travis Hunter)

⁃ 3.00+ YPRR & 90.0+ PFF Receiving Grade as a Sophomore

⁃ 54%+ contested-catch success-rate each of the last 2 seasons

⁃ Led ALL NCAA WR’s with 30 missed tackles forced in 2024 (on just 61 receptions)

Kid can do it all.

Same speed as Bond apparently.

I don't get the hate on this kid, he's my WR2 (assuming Hunter is a CB) and would have no problem if he went in the top 10. He seems on the Rashee Rice/Chris Godwin spectrum to me.

Seems a little rich considering his lack of production. But he ran a little faster than I was expecting so I’ll give him another look.

He was very productive in 2023, with 86-1209-9.

Luther Burden III’s a TOP 15 Prospect

➖10 Yard Split: 1.55 (8.32)
➖20 Yard Split: 2.58 (8.53)
➖40 Yard Dash: 4.42 (9.18)

His speed continuously improved and Burden looked SO smooth during the Gauntlet Drill.

Burden had 0 Drops, ELITE HANDS..

Absolute flawless from Luther Burden on the gauntlet. Effortless!

4.42 in the 40 👀

We've somehow reached the point where Burden is being underrated. Surefire top 20 prospect for me!

Both those guys were drafted well outside the first round though…

Edit: Not that I don’t agree with you, still think he’s a 1st round guy and an exceptional prospect

I think the league has learned from those mistakes. If we re-did it (pretending Rice didn't have his off-field incident) they both would be easy top-20 picks.

Its possible Burden doesn't go as high as I like him (I think he's a top-10 overall player in this class) but that just means he'll likely go to a better offense. Hell, I think now that Tee Higgins is tagged, its more likely Godwin leaves TB, and Burden would be a natural replacement. Could also see the Texans being interested as they don't have the cap space to spend on a vet.
