Comfirm by docter Andrews... Eli has 3-4 week recovery timetable (1 Viewer)

According to the New York Daily News, QB Eli Manning (shoulder) was given a 3-4 week recovery timetable by team physician Dr. Russell Warren and Dr. James Andrews confirmed that diagnosis.

For several days the New York media consistently reported that Manning was day-to-day and might play this week, but it sounds like at least the Daily News is starting to think that the Giants are not being forthcoming about his true status. ESPN's initial report that Manning will miss several games is beginning to look more realistic, although the Giants continue to deny it. As a team source told the newspaper, "I'm hearing conflicting things. I don't know what to believe anymore."

Great job Mort...

I read the Daily News this morning and the tone seemed much different than what you are reporting.

They confirmed that it is a grade 2 sprain which means a partial tear of ligaments ... However the Giants say the ligaments are stretched not torn.

They say Eli playing depends on how he feels and that he has been acting as if he is not injured at all. Lorenzen so far has been taking the snaps but said he expects Eli to play.

They also show a picture Eli do stretching exercises with the team using both arms to stretch his hamstrings

Is this the kind of injury that a player would just gut through in the Super Bowl or something, but should be rested in the regular season?

So, we went from "might miss 4 weeks" to "day to day" and then back to "might miss 4 weeks"? Is that right?
:thumbup:The doctors said it is 3-4 weeks for recovery. They didn't say 3-4 weeks of no football in order to recover.Mort said he would MISS four weeks - which is seemingly just as wrong now as when he first reported it.And Mort is FAR from an idiot - his Sunday morning reporting is almost always dead on and is our bible - if Mort says someone is playing or not playiong he has an incredible track record of accuracy.

Wow, Mort reporting a story that would backup his original story, that just can't be. It's so un-Mort like.

And if you haven't figured it out................

Mort has lost it. Whatever New Orleans and Deuce McAllister did to him a few years back when he reported Deuce would play 10 min before game time and Deuce didn't even dress, this guy has lost it from that point on.

So, we went from "might miss 4 weeks" to "day to day" and then back to "might miss 4 weeks"? Is that right?

:lmao: Can we have the mods change the INACCURATE and MISLEADING title of this thread.

While the Giants continue to say Manning is "day-to-day," a source who has spoken with Manning and is familiar with the team doctors' diagnosis told the Daily News that Manning was initially told by Dr. Russell Warren, the team physician, that his recovery time would be 3-4 weeks. The source said Dr. Warren diagnosed a second-degree sprain of his right shoulder and that Dr. James Andrews, the orthopedic surgeon who reviewed the MRI in Birmingham, Ala., agreed.
Dr. James Andrews, a noted orthopedic specialist in Birmingham, Ala, studied an MRI of Manning's shoulder and informed the team that he believed Manning was "week-to-week" based on his findings, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I'm afraid that Mort is right. It's going to be a few weeks. I said so last week.

Eli can't catch a break. Lots of pressure, his brother wins the Super Bowl and his face is everywhere, Tiki (sort of) trashes him...and then he gets injured. Maybe it's bad karma from pushing the Chargers to trade him.

Sounds like some team owes Mort a Giant apology.
:tumbleweed: And people on this board for saying Mort is an idiot.
Mort didn't help himself by backing off his original report; changing it from Manning missing four weeks to Manning being week to week. He was waffling and people called him on it.
I think you're mistaken. Mort never backed off his report, he simply changed his flat four week estimate to the three-to-four weeks that Dr. Andrews estimated. It was the team that was insisting (and maybe still is) that he was day to day. I've never heard Mort say he was day to day other than to indicate that that was what the team was stating.

Bingo on your last sentence. This "Eli can't catch a break" nonsense is just that...nonsense. No one told him to demand a trade to NY, where athletes get scrutinized more there than in any other city. Well, maybe his daddy did... :lmao:
