Commissioner cheating on yahoo? (2 Viewers)

Not sure if this was ever covered, but is it possible for a commissioner of a Yahoo private league to make changes in his line-up during the game? If it is, how can other managers prove it? TIA.

you have to hope someone else saw it happen as well. I dont think Yahoo leagues use time stamps when moves are made.

Just call him out and see what he says.

You can always try bluffing him. Tell him you have timestamped screenshots of his lineup just after kickoff and his lineup again two hours later, and you're going to go to the league with them unless he comes forward and fesses up first.

Yup, that's how this all started. This is the finals and $300 is on the line. Losing manager lost by 2 points. He said he saw Earnest Graham in their lineup, but it now reads Marshawn Lynch. About a 15 point difference. Not sure how the other owners or the accused will react. Plus, during this time of the year, not sure how many will really know about the situation.

When is key? After player is locked/game time?

What do your rules say? If someone calls me last minute and is having computer issues, I might help them out if nothing significant has happened yet and the timing is reasonable.

The answers to these questions are necessary.

I don't even know if you can override the lineup submission time on Yahoo. Does anyone know for a fact that this can be done?

I'm a Commish in Yahoo Private league. Not possible to alter lineup once game starts - Hope this helps

How do I edit my lineup?

Lineup changes can be made directly from your team page. You can move players from bench to active positions up to five minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the game involving that player.

To move a player for the current week, that player must not have played or be within five minutes of his scheduled start time and the position you're trying to move him to can't be occupied by a player who has already played or is within five minutes of kickoff.

To change a player's position, simply select a new position (WR, QB, BN, etc.) from the player's position pull-down menu. If no pull-down is available, that player is locked for the week and his position cannot be changed.

If you're moving a player to a starting position that's already occupied, you must also adjust the position of the player occupying that position in order to complete the move. So, if you're moving a player from your Bench to a starting WR position, you must move the player currently occupying that position.

You can set your lineup for future weeks by clicking forward to the appropriate week from your team page. Be sure to save your changes for any week you edit before advancing to another week.

That is correct for any member changing their line-up through their roster page (the conventional way), but it is currently possible to cheat as a commish on Yahoo with no record of the line-up changes. We had the situation come up, and we had screenshots to prove the commish had changed his line-ups after the games had started. We confirmed with Yahoo that it is a loophole. Here's how a commissioner can change a line-up after games have started:

League > Commish Tools > Edit Rosters ...

After making the changes, it gives this message:

Your requested changes have been made (view changes).

If any of these changes alter your league scoring, the results will be updated and available within 24 hours.

...and there is ABSOLUTELY NO RECORD of the transaction. Very big hole which Yahoo knows about.

This post is 100% correct.I am the commissioner of a Yahoo league and have had to make "after the fact changes" on a couple of occasions (We dont allow ties and I have to manually change the lineups on occasion to break the tie). There is no record of the transaction after you make it.

I just went on and modified one of the teams starting rosters during their recent bye week and confirmed that there was no message posted for the rest of the league

Hope this helps.

Yup, a lead software developer for Yahoo frequents another popular FF board and he has confirmed that this is a loophole, as well as several others who have experienced the same problem.

Hope this helps.

Sad it always comes down to this...I took a few screen shots yesterday during the games to make sure the rosters didn't mysteriously change.

yes, it can be done. I was a victim of a similar comissioner move. Worse than that, they can also manipulate your lineup as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. It seems once I posted a response to the owner that supposedly lost, Earnest Graham reappeared back in the commissioner's lineup. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or not, but I know from my eyes I saw Lynch in his lineup. Commish hasn't commented. I believe he'll not say anything and maybe play dumb. :goodposting:

At least he set it right. Good luck in your search for a new commissioner.

This happened to me last year. I played in a new league run by Yahoo. I noticed one week that the commish's lineup seemed different on Monday then what I saw just before kickoff Sunday. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that week.... figured he just made some last second lineup changes. But the following week, I took a screen capture of his lineup at 1:15 PM. I believe he had Rex Grossman in his lineup at QB. By about 3 PM it was evident Grossman was putting up a stinker.... so suddenly a new QB with better stats appeared in his starting lineup. I took another screen capture at 3 PM and emailed them both to the league. The amazing thing was.... the dude STILL denied he changed his lineup. LOL.

So to answer your question.... it is definitely possible for the commish to change his starters after the games begin.

I commish a Yahoo Private league. We've had it going for a few years now. You can, without a doubt, cheat as a commish in Yahoo leagues. I am happy to say I have never done that... or never will, but the option is there. If I do cheat, that ruins the fun of EVERYTHING we've worked on. Plus, the second you're caught, the league is DONE. We're moving to My Fantasy League next year (about time, I know) so we won't have this ability. I can't believe Yahoo hasn't corrected this.

Good luck. Cheaters suck!

It CAN still be done in MFL, but there is a record of all changes, so only an idiot would try.

As long as there is a record of the changes then no, you can't cheat. Sure, you can still make changes to rosters after they're locked just like any provider. I think we mean the same thing... I just wouldn't call it cheating because all the changes are right there for everyone to read.

It's been said a million (or so) times here. Ditch Yahoo.

Just an update... here is the response from the commissioner. By the way, he is a co-owner of the team with "Smith" and Smack is the team he played against in the finals.:

"Funny! I am down at my sister's house on Coronado and signed on to brother-in-laws computer to check out how our team did and I see Lynch is in but how did Driver get in when I had Moss playing! I maybe stupid but no way I play Driver over Moss.

"Smith", are you making changes? If so, no big deal!

Nice win Smack! I know you must be as shocked as everyone else! I guess our team picked the wrong time to tank! I guess it's $400 for us and $400 for you!

Good season everyone! Well not really, we're the only team that had a good season! The rest of you just came along for the ride!

Merry Christmas!!!!!"

What he is meaning by the Driver/Moss situation is that he said he kept Moss in the lineup, but now he sees Driver was in his lineup. When I saw Lynch in the lineup, Moss was in the lineup also. He's kind of passing the buck to Smith, saying he must of changed Moss to Driver or chalk it up to a computer glitch. I don't think we'll ever get the full story here without possibly breaking longtime friendships and being labeled as a whiny b#$#@. My guess is he's using Driver/Moss situation as a screen to what really happened. In other words, he's making it sound like he's a victim of a computer glitch too. This just sucks.

Good. Now tell him to apply a fix so that you cannot figure out who is putting in waiver claims.
How is that done? If it's a problem, have you reported it to Yahoo? I'm sure they'd at least take a look at fixing it.

To eliminate this for sure next year the commish should email his lineup to his opponent as well as setting it in yahoo. This email would be a confirmation of who he had starting and would then have a traceable time stamp.

Fixed. HTH. :blackdot:
