I am interested in relocating from a cold weather city soon.  What city would you recommend and why?

Not against NYC, Seattle ,DC or Chicago, though.

Nashville. Plenty of hot women tourists coming through continuously drinking and gettin' horny downtown.

Then they go home.

The San Francisco Bay Area is fantastic and probably the best place in the country to live especially in terms of weather, but only move here if you have a really good paying job and/or you dont mind having four roommates.

Another great city is Portland, Oregon despite the rain, but they don't want you to move there.

NYC - Cost of living is insane

Seattle - If you can handle some rain, it has a lot of positives, but it isn't the easiest city to make friends in. Traffic is pretty horrible too and cost of living is getting up there (primarily rent)

DC - No ####### way

Chicago - I lived there and hated it, but I had an unhappy marriage, had little kids and lived in a suburb (though a close-in one that was supposed to be good). Living in the city as a single guy would probably be much better. But the weather is still horrible and the city, county and state are still totally ####ed longer term. Not a place you would want to settle for the long haul.

love those year round highs in the low 60s!
That is true in the city of SF, but the weather in the South Bay, East Bay and Marin County is better/warmer. But no single person in their right mind would move to any of those places (other than maybe Oakland), so you have a point.

only 1.6mm for this crawlspace in the Tenderloin

WHAT A STEAL!

I'd say it's between Austin and Nashville - with LA a bit further behind.

Nashville not exactly "warm" in the winter - but with global warming it is moving up the charts.

Nashville is still mostly compact and traffic moves somewhat well. Austin is getting rough when it comes to traffic and spread out all over the place. Both with good music scenes - if corporate country is your thing then Nashville - if Americana/Blues/Outlaw is your thing then Austin - although  both are coming closer together. Nashville if you like hockey and football - Austin if you like the Longhorns - you can drive to Dallas/Houston/San Antonio if you want the pro sports.

I'd pick Austin if you can afford to live close to work - near downtown or the lake/park.It ain't cheap anymore.

For the girls - that's a tough call - maybe Austin and only because I've spent more time there to observe.

New Orleans may be an outlier - but if you are a bit off the wall it may be worth looking into - it would take some mental strength but may be rewarding depending on what you like.

I was only commenting on the weather.

Some of our friends' have a daughter who just graduated from UCLA and got some kind of a starter job in SF. She is sharing a studio with a friend in Daly City for $2,400/month.

Fuhgit Nashville. Because of my music connections and because Nashville attracts a LOT of axters who couldnt cut it in rock, i know a LOT of Bostonians who've lived in Nashville. Don't work - they hate it, hate it, HATE IT, even when the work was good.

Austin is a great city at your age being single and hopefully having a little cash. Tons of social hot spots and great food. Laid back.

I also love Chicago

and San Franciso but like the above  can be a pricey place if you don't have a well paying job.

Only been through Nashville so no opinion but have been told it's great.

My pick because I like big cities NYC (best city in the world IMO), Chicago/San Fran tie, Miami

Given your work, DC might not be bad. Lots of colleges and universities in our area if you are looking for more education.

The weather is medium, can be hot in the summer, but our winters tend not to be too bad, and when something bad comes thru, everything stops.

The lots of colleges and universities helps with being a 20 something. Also lots of people come thru here as interns just out of college.

Food in DC is good, lots of variety because of the huge variety of people that come thru here.

Check out the DC thread for better info.

When we were considering relocating I frequented the City Data forums for the specific cities/metros we were researching. Very helpful.

You're not going to get the correct answer here.  Everyone is different and will like different things about each city.

so listen as an arceologist you should consider lubbock texas which is voted the most boring city in america time and time again but if you are looking for something even more boring than a city then nebraska is your winner winner chicken dinner which actually they would never have there as chicken is too radical for ole nebraska which is voted the most boring state over and over so long story short there you have it your a welcome in advance take that to the bank brochacho

i bet if you went to nebraska and started doing a dig you find like a nondescript can or a milk jug that was mass produced and they already found about a billion of it would be like paradise take that to the bank bromigo

You should definitely strongly consider the Denver/Boulder area, as I think it has probably the highest quality of life in the country for single 20-somethings.  Top-notch beer, live music, cannabis, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and an exploding food scene.  And there are tons of fit, single girls in Colorado, which is regularly ranked as the fittest state in the nation.  The weather is also awesome here with tons of sunshine and four true seasons that are not nearly as cold as most people seem to expect.

I think Austin is probably the next best choice on your list, but it's still in Texas.

My GF and I are considering moving to Denver/Boulder. We've been out there 3 times over the past year visiting and learning about the area. I was sold after hiking and just seeing all the hot fit chicks from CU hitting the trails.

The "scenery" on the hiking trails around Boulder is spectacular.  Super fit hot college girls trail running in nothing but sports bras and skintight running shorts.

Not boring if you're into drinking and banging Tech girls 7 night's a week ..

(Yes,  had a good time everytime visiting buddies out there during in college)
