Continuous Rays thread: fun season (2 Viewers)

I don't think it's over yet, or even close to it. This insane city council will eventually break or get voted out.

I believe baseball in Montreal would work again, but they would need a new downtown stadium. Rays still have a lot of time to get things worked out.

Who keeps crapping on this deal getting done and why are they so stubborn and blind?
"Coach" Bill Dudley -- this guy was actually my PE coach for a year in high school and could barely complete a cognizant thought. I thought it was his son or a joke when I heard he got voted on the council. Still can't believe it.

I don't know who the other two jokers are, but the bar isn't set very high.

Erasmo Ramirez was a fantasy sleeper a couple of years ago. He's been terrible since but could help hold down the fort until the rest of Tampa's SPs get healthy.

He's probably more useful than former top prospect Mike Montgomery.

Seems like a nice little trade. I like it. Montgomery was going nowhere.

What's the thought on Souza? He's had a dreadful spring, and there's the belief by some that he is a AAAA type of player. But his minor league numbers were great, and from what I have read he will be in the lineup every day no matter what. He has a decent speed/power combo skillset.

I've only seen him play in a few spring games. He certainly looks the part. The Rays need him to be useful so he'll get a lot of rope. I imagine he lives up to the 20-20 potential because the Rays FO is really smart and they traded Myers to get him.

He's hitting 2nd in the everyday lineup fwiw.

McGee dead

Cobb dead

Smyly dead

Moore dead

Colome dead

Jaso dead

Loney dead

Franklin dead

Jennings sucks

Cabrera sucks

Etc

Loney to the DL.

Allan Dykstra (no relation) gets the call-up. I always like it when career minor leaguers make it to the show. If it's my team though, I like it better when it happens in September than April. He's not a prospect at age 27 (almost 28) but Dykstra looks like he'll take a walk and could provide Loneyesque power.

Yea I doubt the difference between Loney and Dykstra at the plate is all that different, which tells you way more about the 2015 Rays than I would prefer it to do.

Edit: in the field though Loney is a witch. These guy sounds like a butcher.

It's a bummer. I think they'd be quite good if everyone wasn't hurt. Odorizzi was fantastic last night.
SP could be dominant. I like how they are being patient at the plate too. Hopefully everybody gets back quick. I don't even really care about Loney and Franklin, they're replaceable. But they need Cobb and Smyly back bad.

Rays homers: is there chatter that this is the year Odorizzi perhaps puts it all together? I see he put on 15 lbs, he was excellent after a terrible start last year, K ratios excellent, and unlucky w/re to BABIP. Seems like the recipe for a 2nd year breakout, no?
I would take him.

I loved watching this team and rooting for them. Great underdog story. And they were exciting and fun to watch.

Marc Topkin ‏@TBTimes_Rays · 54 minutes ago#Rays Cobb had "a little bit of a setback," will be shut down from throwing and see doctor, Cash said. "He didn't feel as good as he hoped."

Yea sounds like it's going to be a ligament tear for Cobb.

They just can't get any of these guys together at the same time. Sucks.

Cobb dead till 2017 and now Smyly to the DL for shoulder soreness.

I already wish this season was over, and they're actually pretty good somehow.

Smyly injury seems super bad.

@TBTimes_Rays: #Rays Smyly started feeling tightness and stiffness during last start in Boston. Expects to have MRI on Monday: "You try to stay positive"

All pitchers players are dead.

Loney back to the DL. This team can't catch a break.
Sure am glad that they play in the east. 85 wins probably takes it and we may have just the pitching to get there.

Loney is a good player but probably a 1-1.5 WAR guy. Team shouldn't be derailed by him. Wish Jaso and Jennings could get back though.
