Do I have to choose a side, or can I be upset with both Garners death and today's shootings?

For what?Jesus. Thank you.Do I have to choose a side, or can I be upset with both Garners death and today's shootings?
Blood on his hands means he has some level of responsibility for the killings. You could still have contributed to the killings without having been capable of preventing them."Blood on his hands"I don't think anyone's saying he could have prevented them. How would a saber-rattling conservative mayor have prevented these two deaths?
Literally!"Blood on his hands"I don't think anyone's saying he could have prevented them. How would a saber-rattling conservative mayor have prevented these two deaths?

Seems like in order to prove one's political bona fides, you have to be on one side or the other. How about that the NYPD, Farrahkhan, the guy from Baltimore, Sharpton, and whacked out assassins all have problems? For what?Jesus. Thank you.Do I have to choose a side, or can I be upset with both Garners death and today's shootings?
I'm guessing most people are upset at both.

In other words, there's no side here. It's a lot of screwed up stuff. I also don't take the Thin Blue Line nor police unions with anything but a massive grain of salt.

Stay focused on this!Really, just "the right"?"he doesn't really mean it" -- The RightSharpton condemned the killings:http://jezebel.com/letitia-james-al-sharpton-release-statements-after-kil-1673654680Sharpton demagoguery almost rises to the level of fascistic at times, it's almost Crown Heights all over again. He and De Blasio and their ilk should turn down the rhetoric now.
Tragic.
Independents, moderates and liberals, progressives and "the left" don't think he is an absolute, professional race baiter? What happened at Crown Heights, just another misunderstanding? Who does support him?
This was all I was trying to say earlier but obviously not very clearly. It's just strange to me sometimes that people's first reaction is to get into their political corners and prepare to duke it out. I'm sure this guy was stirred up by what happened in NYC and Ferguson, but why immediately single out certain individuals as being responsible for provoking this?Seems like in order to prove one's political bona fides, you have to be on one side or the other. He fostered an anti police environment. He, Farakhan, Sharpton, the Leftist pigs - they all have some blood on their hands. Some overtly called for violence against the police and others tacitly condoned the environments that helped spawn it.But you know this already. You're just being belligerent. So, if what he did or didn't do wouldn't change the course of events, how did he contribute again?Blood on his hands means he has some level of responsibility for the killings. I'm afraid you're right. Things in this country are very bad at the moment. As bad as I've ever seen, and I lived through some pretty dark times during the 70's. We seem to be coming apart at the seems, and things really do appear to be going downhill fast. This unfortunately could get out of hand, in some parts of the country, really quickly.![]()

Remembrance threads are different, but maybe we should sort of explicitly say that. This became politically loaded pretty quickly. I hope nobody took offense to my points.

Be careful or Malloy will fix your spelling...Yeah, it's horrible. His kid is the exact same age as mine. Just spent the whole day with him at a track meet and was thinking how important it is to have a father actively involved at this stage of is life. Such tough years for a kid - even harder than when I was young. I may actually make the trip to NY for the funeral to pay my respects...I found Ramos' facebook page. He had a beautiful family. Two good looking boys, on HS age, one college age. So sad.

I pay attention to different posters than maybe we all do. Even if I quote someone, it's the tone and tenor of it. To come to this conclusion you would have to deliberately ignore the details of the situation. This guy has more connection to the person that killed his roommates and then started killing "cool" people in California than he does any kind of protest on police violence. It isn't political. Stop poisoning a valid point that many speak for and stop giving this guy some unwarranted importance.

How the #### does the murder of two police officers devolve into one guy screaming at everyone that he bets they love phat beatz?Good to see this thread went in the expected direction overnight.

Good lord.Yeah, so I pretty much predicted this a few weeks ago during the Michael Brown riots. Al Sharpton, the Brown family, and all the protesters - they all have a little blood on their hands tonight. Sleep well.
Am I totally missing something? The murderer himself said this was retaliation for police violence. This guy has more connection to the person that killed his roommates and then started killing "cool" people in California than he does any kind of protest on police violence.
