Cowboys waive Carter - it's official (1 Viewer)

Q was on the radio talking about how "This was his team now" and "He was the man in charge"....I wonder if Bill wanted that squashed before other players started resenting Q for those comments. This reminds me of the Alenander Haig scene from 1981.Parcells knows what he's doing. Addition by subtraction. If the guy could win a SuperBowl with Hostettler, I'm thinking he knows how to win a few regular season games with what he has currently.
Hoss didn’t exactly lead that team to the Superbowl. Simms started most of the regular season games and got hurt toward the end of the season. Now about Quincy being cut, could it be more than the drugs? League sources told ESPN.com that despite the positive test Carter is not under suspension. LinkI understand that Quincy failed a team drug test and not a league drug test.If this is true since when did the Cowboys start giving team drug tests and why didn’t Michael Irvin fail one?

Gambino, that must have been another General.  General Dip Schit or General Tso or General Mayonaise.  Certainly NOT me.  :bag: Guys - Dallas WILL NOT sign another QB.  Period.  I'm booking bets now for those who think I'm wrong.Testaverde WAS the veteran Parcells wanted and Henson IS the future this team needs.  They don't want/need a third option muddying the situation.  Period.  Not Brees, not Kitna, not Collins, not Couch.Henson was signed for a REASON.  Testaverde was brought in for a REASON.  Carter was released for a REASON.This team will stand pat and play with what they have.  And I bet...BET...that whomever is at the pivot makes less mistakes than Carter and shows better numbers by the end of the year.
GM, I take that bet. Here's why:1. Dallas knows they cannot rely on Testaverde for 16+ games.2. Henson WILL NOT play more than 15% of snaps this year. If he does, his contract reverts from a 5 year deal to a 3 year deal. No way shrewd Jerry and Bill a llow a potential franchise QB to slice off the last 2 years of his contract.SO unless ROmo is good for 5-7 starts, DAllas needs another QB body. Also, remember the boys are WAY under the cap. This is not a coincidence. They knew of Carter's hisrtory and left oney in the bank, just in case. Now we see why they have not yet bought a cornerback... they knew they may ahve to buy another QB. It all makes sense now,I look for them to negoitate fro Gannon, but he may be too expensive. But a George for Fiedler deal suddenly makes some sense.
I'll make my standard wager with my good buddies...A $50 dinner tab at the losers expense upon any cornholing that takes place with no expiration date attached. There not gonna sign another QB. It makes no sense. Deals are restructured all the time. Henson's contract isn't going to be the factor that decides the fate of the QB play in 2004.
SOunds good to me. Although its hard to get a good seafood dinner for that price, I'm willing to go for a steak. The contract was done about six months ago, quite a bit early for a restructure, IMO.
when you travel up to Portland, the 50 bucks will buy the steak dinner AND 2 lap dances.
I was assuming winner picked location. Lots of good steaks and lap dances in Austin.
either way....JTC owes me a $50 tab at a dinner at a place and time that has yet to be determined. More than likely, this will be Vegas in 2005. You should put that on your calendar and meet us there. We'll settle then.Dallas is content with what they have at QB. Vinny = now. Drew = Future. There is now room for anything else. Nor a need. Winning now is not the goal in Dallas. Winning next year and beyond is.

Actually it was an 8 year deal (through 2011!!!) unless he plays in 15% of plays this year, in which case Henson would have to option to void the last 4 years.Pretty shrewd deal by Jerry, assuming Drew doesn't get that 15% this year

Nothing real exciting in the press conference. Jones said he was "disappointed", Parcells "sad". Parcells indicated that Testaverde is the starter, and that his focus now is making sure he's ready for Minnesota.
And then the focus will switch to making sure Hensen is ready for Cleveland in week 2 while Vinny recovers from week 1. :D

This makes my point even more. Jerry may not be the best at finding talent (see QC), but the man can cut a helluva deal (see Herschel trade to Min). Get ready to see a lot of ROmo if no one else signs. 60 min x 16 games = 960 min x 15% = 144 minutes MAX Henson will play with a star on his hat in 2004.
