How was the original script written?I am hoping to how the original script was written.Ugh, that doesn't sound good.Awesome! But "they gave it a better ending"?
No idea if they followed the books ending or not. However nobody seemed happy with the script version of the ending they had.How was the original script written?I am hoping to how the original script was written.Ugh, that doesn't sound good.Awesome! But "they gave it a better ending"?

My thoughts exactly.Awesome! But "they gave it a better ending"?
Can't they just train a honey badger?I have concerns about what Oy will look like. Hopefully like this.

For some reason I have a cross between a dog and a hedgehog in my head. But it's been years since I read the books.I don't remember how he's described in the books, but I would like him to be a little more dog like than weaselI have concerns about what Oy will look like. Hopefully like this.

I was looking for someone more Eastwood than Crowe. And I think at this point I would rather see the whole thing done on HBO than see it done on the big screen.
If you're talking about 20 years ago Clint.. I agree, but I don't want to see an 82 year old Roland.. I know you meant somebody "like" Clint, but I think Crowe would be great and at this point, I just want to see it made.I was looking for someone more Eastwood than Crowe. Totally agree. Plus, having his name attached surely would help allay concerns the studio might have as to its commercial viability.Crowe would be great.
Yeah this is what I meant by more like Eastwood.'Buddy Ball 2K3 said:Not sure how I feel about Crow. Always pictured Roland as tall and lanky.
This. Except the opposite.'Abraham said:Crowe would be great.
I think Shawn Bradley is probably available. You know he's got the chops from "Space Jam".'Buddy Ball 2K3 said:Not sure how I feel about Crow. Always pictured Roland as tall and lanky.
Yeah he's made some good films no doubt. I wasn't saying he sucks and I wasn't saying you actually get Eastwood. Of course dude is too old. Hasn't stopped Harrison Ford but I digress. And if the whole idea is just to pull names out of our ### to get it greenlighted I can think of younger guys than Crowe that do fit the physical description of the character. This is why I was saying I would rather it just all be on HBO. I have feeling they'll be more concerned with doing it right than putting a big name under the title.Anyone saying Crowe would suck - have you seen "Gladiator" or "3:10 to Yuma?" Maybe he doesn't look like your mental picture of Roland Deschain, but you do realize Clint Eastwood is like 119 years old, right? The project is also yet to be green-lighted, so having a major name attached gives it a much better chance of actually getting done - Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen don't really qualify, fine actors though they may be.
Good choice. I always pictured Roland as Clint Eastwood from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. I think Pearce has "the look". I think Clive Owen also has "the look" but his accent is too heavy for Roland.I've always liked Guy Pearce for the role.
Right, but can they act? Say what you will about Crowe but he won consecutive best actor Oscars for playing an ###-kicking gladiator and a schizophrenic math genius. That's range. He also shined (IMO) in 3:10 to Yuma - a movie that is set in a similar world. I think he'd do a fine job.Yeah he's made some good films no doubt. Yeah Viggo would be a good choice IMO. I am sure Crowe will do good I just have a mental picture I guess and he doesn't fit it.Crowe would be great. Holloway looks the part but I'm not sure he is good enough as an actor. Still think Vigo is a no brainer for me BUT, Crowe just might get this green lit on his own
Considering King has said he built Roland on Eastwood-on-height-hormones so often, it's not surprising that Crowe wouldn't fit most fans' vision of Roland. But then again, Robert Duvall didn't look a thing like Augustus McRae (another long, tall, lanky dude in the book) and he nailed it. Agree with those who think this would do better as a cable series.Yeah Viggo would be a good choice IMO. In other words, the Warner Brothers execs finally got to the end of the series and decided to keep reading when King warned them to stop. lolRon Howard's a pretty big name. Hopefully he'll get some studio to sign on.The movie — and an accompanying TV series — had already been dropped as too expensive and too risky by Howard’s home studio of Universal Pictures.)
Sadly, for those hoping to see Roland the gunslinger’s quest on the big screen, Warner Bros. has come to the same conclusion, sources close to the project confirm.
I can't see how this would be any more expensive to make than Game of Thrones or any other cable series really. I mean Howard already has the rights as far as I can tell. Just skip the big screen and go for cable. In other words, the Warner Brothers execs finally got to the end of the series and decided to keep reading when King warned them to stop. lolRon Howard's a pretty big name. I was thinking Charlie Day.The main guy from Hell On Wheels might make a good Roland.

If it will help get this project off the ground, I'll give them the one I have chained up in my basement.Would LOVE to see Aaron Paul as Eddie.
Between Justified and Deadwood, I could see Tomothy Olyphant as Roland.
Still can't figure where they're gonna get a legless black chick though.
When I started reading this series, I always pictured her as Holly Robinson. She's past the correct age for the character nowadays (but probably still gorgeous?Would LOVE to see Aaron Paul as Eddie.

, but that's Susannah in my mind until some casting director ####s it all up.To me, Jake will be the toughest to cast.
