DE Chase Young, WAS (1 Viewer)

I keep seeing all these tweets from the local beat writers and every last one of them fails to mention the franchise tag is only about $2.5M more than the 5th year option.

If he plays well, he’ll get the tag and they’ll work out a deal. Ya know, like they just did with Payne. If he plays poorly, they can choose to let him walk or maybe work out a reasonable “prove it” deal to keep him. If his performance falls in the middle and there are still questions, well, there’s a lot of ways it can go.

This was the right move and the local media is driving me absolutely insane not talking about the tag more.

Such a good example of how quickly things can change in the NFL and how difficult (and lucky) it is become a perennial Pro Bowl caliber player. After his rookie year, he seemed poise to become the next great DE. Now at age 24, he's kind of in a make or break year.

I remember being pissed that lions got stuck one spot behind him, thought he was really going to be something. Still better than Jeff O. though.

Absolutely, I was so freaking pissed we missed him. I thought he was a surefire star. He might still be- that knee injury just really set him way behind. Sounds like it was far worse than the typical acl.

The Athletic’s Ben Standig reports Chase Young will consult a doctor after not being cleared for contact following a “stinger” injury suffered in the team’s first preseason game.
We know very little about this “stinger” Young is dealing with right now, other than it is a neurological injury that is not related to the torn ACL he suffered in 2021, as Ben Standig pointed out. Head coach Ron Rivera has avoided answering questions about Young’s injury over the last several days, but more could be disclosed on his injury when the team releases its first injury report next week. Young appears to be trending on the wrong side of playing in Week 1 against the Cardinals, but he still has 10 days to get right.
