Deangelo and Stewart owners...Time to panic? (1 Viewer)

I am a Deangelo owner, and there's absolutely no way I can trade him right now, as I think his value is too low.

But two straight weeks, I've seen Goodson get significant PT in meaningful series down near the goalline.

Today, Clausen hit Deangelo for a screen, he took it down to the five and promptly came off the field.

Deangelo is getting alot of carries, and he'll get points...but he's getting no goalline looks (and the Panthers are so bad, those don't come often)

Stewart isn't getting alot of carries, though he was seen at the goalline.

This situation was bad enough when it was a 2 man RBBC. Now it's a 3 man RBBC, and I have to say, it's a nightmare for owners.

The Panthers need to abandon ship, play for the future, and trade Deangelo to a contender. They could potentially get a very high draft pick, and I don't think it would affect them at all.

I have no idea what Goodson is doing getting any playing time. Makes no sense unless Stewart is hurt but everyone says he is healthy.I do know this, John Fox will not be the coach next year. I doubt they will make a play for Cowher either. Too much money.

It's bizarre how much PT Goodson has been getting the first two games. When you have RBs of the caliber of Williams and Stewart one would think you'd want to get them on the field as much as possible, not having them spending large quantities of time standing on the sidelines. The Panthers are a mess.

Williams owners should probably view him as a RB2. Solid starter but lacking upside now because of the terrible situation the team is in. If you drafted him as a RB1, hopefully you have good depth behind him.

Stewart owners can't start him at all. He's a RB5 right now and shouldn't be anywhere near anyone's starting lineup. Today was a huge red mark against him since he typically owns the Bucs. I'd honestly start John Kuhn ahead of him right now. At least I know Kuhn is going to be on the field and be involved in the offense.

They won't hire a coach until there's a labor agreement. Richardson built this team to win the lockout.

I vowed to stay away from DeAngelo after he frustrated the hell out of me last year. Shame on me for taking him again this year (2.8)

Williams is overrated as a fantasy player. We caught lightening in a bottle the one year that they actually let him carry the load. The problem is that won't happen again with Stewart and Goodson around. Also, Moore isn't striking the fear of god into opposing teams.

It's never time to panic. But it is time to put stewart on the bench and hope he gets more looks as the season goes on. As far as DeAngelo.....you gotta just roll him out and hope he turns it around.

I had high hopes for him.. took him in the 3rd as my RB1. I am not panicking, but he does have my full attention now. This was supposed to be a good game for him.

Fox should be dragged through broken glass until he admits he doesn't know what he is doing and begs to be assigned as defensive coordinator under Houston Nutt at Ole Miss.

Their next 3 games are at home against CIN...that won't be easy. Next they play the World Champs on the road. Then they come home again to play the Bears who are pretty stingy on the ground.

Yeah, I'd say it's a perfect time to panic.

Taking Stewart in the 3rd as my RB1 is making me cringe as I type it. If I didnt trade for Best before the season, Id probably be suicidal since I have Spiller and Jacobs behind him.

I took Stewart at the end of the 5th round, so I didn't have much expectation of him other than a flex.

I traded for D'Angelo when he was offered to me for Vick. I still think this will turn into a great trade for me as the year progresses.

Right now it SU CKS!!!

DeAngelo is always a slow starter. He has never had a 100 yard rushing game prior to week five.

Deangelo goes 10/64, 6.4ypc, and Clausen is chucking it 33 times? Can someone shed some light on this? Is it really all on Fox?

I keep telling myself now is a good time to buy DeAngelo...but then I look at what's going on and don't see any reason to be optimistic things will turn around.

I have both and YES it is time to panic.

1. Drafted Stewart at the end of round 5.

2. Traded Vick for D'Angelo 2 weeks ago before Vick was named starter.

3. Sitting both this week=Priceless

I'm not selling and have alternatives to wait until they come back. Might take a few more games but I'm holding & hoping.

When is Otah expected back? May help some.
As a Williams owner in a couple leagues, this is the only thing that is giving me the tiniest glimmer of hope. Maybe Otah getting back in there, whenever it is, lights a fire in their run game. Thankfully, I'm not rolling with him as my RB1 anywhere, but I was certainly expecting more than he's given so far.If I'm being realistic though, I'm worried because I don't trust Fox to stop the Goodson parade. Down pretty much the whole game and you aren't putting your best playmakers on the field? Ummm....nice? I mean, I get it, Goodson has nice hands and can make a little noise every once in a while....but at the complete expense of Williams/Stewart? Doesn't compute.

Once again I'll tell you the biggest problem is that OC Davidson thinks he can works Joe Montana magic with whatever QB is there. He's an embarrassment to the franchise as he is pass happy when the identity of the team is power running. The best players are not fully being utilized.

Not surprising to me. Williams fell apart last year. Two years ago was a fluke, IMO.
A fluke? Williams is clearly an extremely talented back and performs well anytime he gets to carry the load. Not sure how you could think he was a fluke, unless you never have actually watched him play. Same goes for Stewart. These are two of the best backs in the league talent wise and they are barely combining for half the snaps at RB. It is insane. The only hope is that Fox gets fired sooner rather than later, the Panthers don't look like they can win a game this year with this O.

You have an odd definition of 'falling apart.' He was a top 10 running back last year in both of my money league's scoring systems, with only one truly bad game prior to the game vs. the Vikings late in the year where he got hurt.

i ask darin gantt this on Friday and he said that Otah shrugged and said he didn't know. Gantt also said that CAR should have PUPed him and to not expect him before the week 6 bye.

Something is really, really wrong when Peyton Hills is outscoring the combined points of Deangelo & Stewart.

Count me as scared. I snagged DWill in the 2nd, 19th overall, and was dancing. I knew there was risk, with the QB situation, but I expected that they would let the ground game carry them and just play it tight and conservative. Had no idea Goodsen was going to be taking all the 3rd down snaps, and the 2 minute duty either. They look so bad, he's probably going to be a matchup play at this point. Sad.

DeAngelo rarely plays 2 downs in a row it has gotten so ridiculous and yet neiterh he nor Stewart has said a thing. Good thing for Williams owners, he won't be back in this putrid offense in 2011 (if there is a season). No way cheapskate Richardson pays him and someone will remember what he can do.

Makes me wonder if this is Richardson's plan. Hope to drive his value down so as to sign him cheap. Can an owner can be that stupid?

Spot on. Tough time to be a Panthers fan. Very frustrating.

Yeah, Williams has a big run every other play, yet he's not hardly on the field. It's baffling. I told myself I wouldn't do this again after last years maddening season and of I've got both him and Marian Barber. At least Marian is looking up and I'm 3 and 0 in the league I'm discussing. Staying optimistic.

Panic! Carolina has so many three and outs that the opportunities arent their. Plus, because Carolina will be playing from behind, they will abandon the run much sooner. These two issues are enough for concern, adding the Goodson factor , is icing on the cake.

Is John Fox daring the owners to fire him?
I was wondering that. He's dead meat as his contract is up and they won't rehire him. He probably wants to lounge around and still collect a paycheck. He's a POS.
You're internet persona is very mean spirited.

I cannot remember being more frustrated with a NFL team than I am with Carolina over how they use Williams (or don't use him). It would be more understandable if they were using Stewart instead and he was getting solid numbers. But it seems they are wasting both of them. Fox and Davidson are both embarassments. And so is Richardson, for that matter.
