agreed . . .Al Harris played great today, IMO.Rams only had 7 in the box so they could stop the pass. I wouldn't jump on his bandwagon just yet. The Rams D is putrid without their #1,2 and 3 CB's.

Do you have a blog?it's days like this where I love going back to page 2 in this forum and reading my comments. Almost as good as going in the Felix Jones forum and reading my comments back from September there. Glad I took my own advice and got DeMarco on all of my teams.
There's gonna be a lot of dissapointed Felix owners............bank on it!Cha Ching!!I've said it day one when the Cowboys draft Murray and I'll say it again, he was drafted to take over the backfield. He'll be the featured back soon enough, bank on it!!
the kicker is... no need to rush Felix back now. They may milk it and keep playing the hot hand.they split when Felix gets back . . .
I fell prey to that. Got caught up in the fear of a 3-headed RB attack on the day and talked myself out of activating him from my taxi(would've had to cut a guy, etc. etc.) Likely going to cost me a win in that league.Obviously, the Rams run defense is terrible so I'm tempering his performance a bit....but if he'd have done half as well as he did I'd have been ecstatic with how he played today. The big run was a fluke thing that won't happen again for a while, if ever, but outside of that he still looked good/comfortable out there.Very glad that I did not overthink this. Opportunity is one thing. But opportunity versus a terrible run d is another.Anyone rolling him out there vs the Rams?
Dont be so sure. JJ loves Felix...and Jason Garrett loves to make things interesting..in all aspects of the game. I imagine Felix/Murray and a little mix in of Choice on 3rd downs. Killing everyone's value.Felix has shown over the years that he can't handle a full workload. Now Murray, in his first ever start rushes for the 9th highest single game total in league history. This kid is going to get every opportunity.
If by split u mean felix is third down back then okthey split when Felix gets back . . .
JJ loves Murray too and Felix is pretty banged up at the moment. If Murray goes out and strings together 2 or 3 good games in a row, I think it would be tough for the Cowboys to move away from him. Almost everyone uses a committee these days though. Choice is only getting work b/c of his work in blitz pickup but I think Felix can take over those 3rd down snaps and leave most of the early down workload to Murray. Tanner looked better today than Choice has all year.Dont be so sure. JJ loves Felix...and Jason Garrett loves to make things interesting..in all aspects of the game. you're going to keep banging this drum, I assume?Gonna be a lot of dissapointed Murray folks after this week.. 46 yards rushing..9 receiving.
Choice will probably be cut this week.Dont be so sure. JJ loves Felix...and Jason Garrett loves to make things interesting..in all aspects of the game. I agree that we should all temper our expectations, but fortunately Jason Garrett (for all his faults) isn't Shanahan. One thing I saw in the game was that Murray was terrible receiving passes. He dropped a few wide open screen passes. I have heard he is a good receiver out of the backfield, so this surprised me. As a ppr owner, I sure hope that's something he improves on..although if he rushes for 250 every week, ill settle for no catches.Great game for Murray but keep in mind Torain went for 100 plus on them 2 weeks ago and he hasn't been heard if since.Just keep things in perspective is all I' m saying, great game for Murray today.
People need to stop with this stat. Felix played against the Jets and the 49ers in the games he started in. Of course hes not gonna go off in those games. After those two games he went for 115 on 14 carries against a mediocre defense(Washington). I liked Murray at OK also but when Felix comes back, they will be splitting carries. The holes Murray ran through today were enormous and I think Felix would've had a good day as well. I think the skill sets are just about equal, durability will be the key to who wins this battle.Murray's 253 yards are the most for any NFL running back this season, and just two fewer than Felix Jones has been able to rush for in five games.![]()

We can probably find replies like this on every RB that has ever been replaced in season. Sorry dude, it's coming, if not here already'wiscstlatlmia said:People need to stop with this stat. No, not the week he gets hurt. They'd be on tab for the remainder of his contract. Big no no now to cut a player because he's injured.'davidbostonsbicepsfan said:Choice will probably be cut this week.'Dought Man said:Dont be so sure. the Cowboys travel to Philadelphia next weekend and then face Seattle and Buffalo at home the following two weeks. If Felix is out for about 4 weeks, that gives Murray a chance to carve up the 32nd, 24th, 8th, and 29th ranked run defenses.Cowboys also have a favorable schedule later in the year. Weeks 13 through 16 they get Arizona (18), NY Giants (25), Tampa (18), and Philly (24).Is everyone planning on playing Murray next week against the seahawks?? I know their run d is solid but it's hard to not play him after getting burned for benching him yesterday.
Very true. Misread the schedule. Awesome outlook. Thanks for this.the Cowboys travel to Philadelphia next weekend and then face Seattle and Buffalo at home the following two weeks. Yes with Gore and FJax comming off the Bye now, I will have decisions to make.Very true. Misread the schedule. Awesome outlook. Yeah, when a guy rushes for 253 yards in a single game - and I don't care what team was, or how bad their defense is - you have to start him. No one is ever a "sure bet" any given week in the NFL, but you have to give a guy like that a shot.Is everyone planning on playing Murray next week against the seahawks??
Yes good points and yes they will be splitting carries when Felix returns.'wiscstlatlmia said:People need to stop with this stat. No I will definitely NOT start him against SEA next weekBut I will start him against the weak run defense of the Eagles their actual week 8 opponentYeah, when a guy rushes for 253 yards in a single game - and I don't care what team was, or how bad their defense is - you have to start him. Yes Murray will be the starter untill he gets hurt and he is more durable then Felix imo. Felix is a good chance of pace, 3rd down back. Cowboys should look to move Choice for another player if possible with Tanner as a great rb3 emergency guy.guess if murray plays well these next couple weeks with no felix, hes the man
Hill is a beat writer for Dallas. 4 weeks injury to Feliz brings him back week 11 vs Wash. Plenty of time for Murray to seal the deal as the lead which I'm sure he has anyway.OCTOBER 24, 2011
Felix Jones doubtful for Eagles game, look for DeMarco Murray to get his first start
Look for rookie running back DeMarco Murray to follow up his record setting rushing performance with his first career start against the Eagles on Sunday.
Starting running back Felix Jones, who missed the Rams game with a high ankle sprain, is doubtful for the Eagles game. Team trainers have all but ruled Jones out saying the injury will likely take closer to four weeks to heal.
Murray said he doesn't care about starting but its clear he will be the lead back during Jones' absence if not beyond.
Coach Jason Garrett said Murray deserves more opportunities following the 253-yard effort against the Rams. He broke Emmitt Smith's single game rushing record and Tony Dorsett's rookie single game rushing record.

Spread, wishbone. Tomayto, tomahto.recent history?didn't the Oklahoma offense Murray played in differ quite a bit from the one Billy Sims played in?AP. Freshman Marcus Dupree. Billy Sims.interesting.who are in the long list of Sooner RBs that have been clearly better in recent history?also, how did he break so many records there?Yes compared to past Oklahoma RB's
Felix just played in 34 straight games until last week. That's 2.5 seasons of football. Considering the rate at which RB's have been going down recently that's really not as injury prone as people seem to believe and I'm guessing longer than any stretch Murray ever played in college. Also when assuming Demarco is the more durable of the two don't forget he was the one who missed a chunk of training camp with an injury. No one can say what the roles will be when both Felix and Demarco are healthy except I feel confident in saying they should both be involved and consume almost all of the RB touches. Would seem to make sense to have Felix handle the third down role as he's become very adept at pass protection but I don't think Felix is going to be limited to third down work either. Certainly possible he gets less overall touches than DM especially when you factor in his shoulder is still probably not going to be 100% when he returns. My opinion is Murray just had the best game of his career and is not nearly as good he looked yesterday but he's healthy and hot and Felix is not and if I could pick one to own for the rest of the year it would easily be Demarco. The Cowboys will never trade Choice because the deadline passed, he's not under contract next year and you can't trade players who are not signed. Choice will be free to seek employment elsewhere. I feel for Choice. He's not exactly broke but he's had to play on a 4th round rookie contract all these years. For reasons I'm not sure about Garrett never seemed to embrace him and I think it all impacted Choice who has to be steaming that he's finally going to hit FA but he'll be a soon to be 28 year old RB coming of a disapointing few seasons. I recall heading into last season a few people who thought Choice would be looking at a FA haul similar to Michael Turner when he finally hit FA but it's not going to be close. Choice's main goal won't be seeking a haul but simply seeking a job.'T with T said:Yes Murray will be the starter untill he gets hurt and he is more durable then Felix imo. True about Choice but it's important to add while yes being 28 he's had very little wear and tear over the years and should have life in his legs. Choice did this to himself. Over the past few years continued to make bone head plays. Just a couple weeks ago, went out of bounds while they were trying to run out the clock. Fumbles, also didnt help either. Don't forget what started this downward spiral. last year vs Wash when he fumbled and firmly planted himself in JCs doghouse . Choice while having promise is a lot like pierre Thomas, does everything "ok" but nothing special. He's adequate at best.Felix just played in 34 straight games until last week. One other thought or I should say name to put in your heads before you all rush to proclaim Demarco Murray as the next great thing. Julius Jones. In JJ's rookie year he was only fully healthy for 7 games and in 3 of those games he had rushing totals of 198, 150 and 149. I was not high on Murry prior to this weeks game, he obviously made me reconsider my opinion on him but I'm a long, long way from proclaiming him to be elite or even the Cowboys' feature back. Going to need to see more.
