Democratic Debate (1 Viewer)

wait what?!?!?! :lmao:
Check out Saints and Sinn Fein's postings in the Hillary thread during that time. Saints kept saying Hillary's poll numbers were in "free fall" and kept asking Hillary supporters to predict when they will stop falling and why. And a look at her favorability ratings from the time she announced until the first primary should confirm that, as it was a gradual straight downward trend until around the time of the first debate and Benghazi hearing.

No, I remember.  That's where you guys were going the "look at this article from X months ago.  see it says her number will fall.  it's not because of the emails.  no one cares about her stupid emails, not even bernie" route.  Now, the emails mattered.

Thankfully we have squisy here to tell us who the objective people are as he posts thousands of stupid Twitter posts from rabid Hillary fanbots.

The only democratic alternative is a guy who wants make everything free and tax people into oblivion. He's just way too extreme with his plans.

If having a liar as president keeps the country on pretty much the same, I'm cool with that.
$1.7 Trillion unfunded to go to war with Iraq: Fiscal Conservativism!

$1 Trillion to put Americans to work and rebuild our crumbling infrastructure before it gets even worse, paid for by taxing offshore corporate accounts: Free stuff!

Yes, I posted an article by Nate Silver that showed an historic correlation between favorability and poll numbers falling once one goes from an undeclared candidate to an actual candidate. And it was unrealistic not to expect her rather stratospheric favorability numbers as SOS not to drop significantly. However her numbers dropped way below what they should have been from becoming a declared candidate and having an opposition candidate.

I don't feel like digging through hundreds of pages in the Hillary thread from that period, but I am pretty certain I posted a link to and quotes from a follow up Silver article where he revisited his earlier prediction and noted that the greater than expected drop was attributable primary to steady drum beat of negative publicity against Hillary regarding the emails (and to a lesser extent Benghazi).

Definitely missed those.  I'm guessing they weren't posted as frequently as the initial article.

Took this from CNNs website.  I find this whole "Bernie was rude" argument ridiculous with emphasis on the bolded:

"Excuse me, I'm talking," Sanders told Clinton as she attempted to interrupt his argument about the Wall Street and auto bailouts.

Correct the Record, an independent group that backs Clinton's campaign, emailed the clip to reporters, describing it as Sanders' "Rick Lazio moment."

That's a reference to former New York senate candidate Rick Lazio, then a Republican congressman, who in a 2000 debate with Clinton walked across the stage demanding she sign a campaign finance reform pledge. His entreaty was widely panned and considered by some observers to be an unseemly intrusion into Clinton's personal space.

Seriously?  Sanders is trying to talk, Clinton rudely interrupts, and an "excuse me" is being considered "an unseemly intrusion into Clinton's personal space"??  And this is somehow dominating today's news cycle? Grow up Hillary supporters and stop looking for ways to bash Bernie.  SMH.  Oh, and if you back a particular campaign you're no longer impartial, so your actions are clearly biased.
Correct The Record is not an "independent" group.

"Independent group" = group described on its own website as "a strategic research and rapid response team designed to defend Hillary Clinton from baseless attacks."

Winners
Hillary Clinton: The former Secretary of State came ready to fight on Sunday night. She kept her hit on Sanders's opposition to the auto bailout well hidden in the run-up to the debate in order to get maximum impact when she dropped it on his head. Ditto her attack on him being the long Democrat to vote against the Export-Import bank.  She is still not great when it comes to answering questions she doesn't want to answer.  Her I'll-release-my-Wall-Street-speeches-when-everyone-else-does answer to a question on her high-paid speaking gigs was, still, not very good. And, she remains overly cautious as a candidate; when pressed whether people at the Environmental Protection Agency should lose their jobs over what happened in Flint, Clinton was unwilling to say they should -- a swing and a miss at a hanging curveball.  Still, overall, this was a very solid showing by Clinton. On guns, on failing schools and on Flint, she was confident and effective.

Losers
Bernie Sanders: The Vermont Senator had effectively walked a fine line in the previous six debates when it came to attacking Clinton without coming across as either bullying or condescending. He tripped and fell while trying to execute that delicate dance on Sunday night. Sanders's "excuse me, I'm talking" rebuttal to Clinton hinted at the fact that he was losing his temper with her. His "can I finish please" retort ensured that his tone and his approach to someone trying to become the first female presidential nominee in either party would be THE story of the night.

Put aside the fact that Sanders misstepped on tone, he also did nothing to change the underlying dynamics of the race. If you think Wall Street is the problem for much of what ails the country, you were for Sanders before this debate and certainly for him after it too. But, as we know from the first 40 percent or so of states that have voted, there aren't enough of those people to make him the nominee.  Sanders didn't knock Clinton off her game in any meaningful way, making the debate a loss for him. (Sidebar: His answer about white people not knowing what it is like to live in a ghetto or be poor would have been a massive gaffe if he was not as far behind in the delegate chase as he is.)
:coffee:

Starts in 30 minutes on CNN.

I thought Hillary won the last one; most people disagreed (including, apparently, the majority of Michigan voters.) We'll see how she does tonight. The issues will no doubt be a little different.

Why do you feel the need to say the same thing so many times?
Simply to acknowledge that most people thought i was wrong about it. Also, I'm not egotistical or narcissistic enough to think that everyone reading this has read everything that I've written. But I'm honored that apparently you have.

You say everything 20 times or more.  We've all read it over and over and over.

Probably is egotistical that you feel the need to keep posting the same thing to make sure everyone sees it.

Should be a fun debate.

Wow I feel so sorry for you guys, having to read me write something a few times. IT'S TERRIBLE!

Seriously though it's disturbing, this obsession with what I write, how many times I write it, what I must be thinking when somebody wins or loses, etc. Seek help please.

I don't give a crap what you post but you keep sticking it in my face like you are Bill and I am Monica.  Only difference is that Bill finished.

97K + posts is a few times?

I love how Hillary bragged about bringing the last debate to Flint and then did so poorly that she lost a 20 point lead.  Another highlight for Hillary the Campaigner.

Moving on: tonight is going to be about immigration and illegal immigration. It's one of the main reasons I am voting for Hillary Clinton. It's time for her (and for Bernie) to attack the nonsense that conservatives have been spewing on this issue.

Also, Florida, like California, is a state that benefits greatly from free trade. So maybe the protectionist talk Bernie has been spewing won't sell as well here. We'll see.

Help? You acknowledge you check out this board the minute you wake up and admit things you see here make you upset and depressed. Your life is this message board and you are telling others to seek help? :lmao:

At least you are calling them illegal and not undocumented.  It's a start.

That "Race for the White House" show looks intriguing, but the Lincoln/Douglas debates were for the Senate of Illinois, not the Presidency.

Bernie opening reminds me of Bill Hicks opening ... something to the effect, bear with me while I plow through this #### one more time.
