The only thing that Gerhart showed us is that he sucks. The Jaguars tried the "volume" approach with Gerhart in Week 1 and he averaged 2.3 YPC -- and that was when they had the lead for most of the game!Sell high sell high sell high.
Gerhart showed us that the Jags will completely abandon the run when behind in a game, which they will be most weeks. The only reason Robinson was so good today was volume, which will evaporate as they get blown out against better teams.
Denard just had the best game against the Browns all year.Never, ever judge an RB by what he does against the Browns. The Browns D makes EVERYONE look good. I could run behind 6 or 7 of my buddies, against the Browns, and go for about 25-110-2.
Fwiw the Browns have played some split backfields like NO and BAL I think every team has run for 100+ yards against them. And they were also missing three starting linemen (IIRC).Denard just had the best game against the Browns all year.Never, ever judge an RB by what he does against the Browns. too many holes on the rest of the jags roster to spend high picks on backs.Too many good backs in next years draft to roll with Shoelace long term.
Too many forum members thinking they know what the heck is going to happen in draft next year ( I doubt the Jaguars don't know either, so how can we? )too many holes on the rest of the jags roster to spend high picks on backs.Too many good backs in next years draft to roll with Shoelace long term.
The Jags need to add talent. I'd say oline has to be a priority but other than that BPA seems like a reasonable approach. It's not that hard to envision that BPA being a RB in round 2 or 3 and that guy could easily be the best runner on the team depending who's available.too many holes on the rest of the jags roster to spend high picks on backs.Too many good backs in next years draft to roll with Shoelace long term.
they aren't thinking about it now nor should they, but that's not the point.Too many forum members thinking they know what the heck is going to happen in draft next year ( I doubt the Jaguars don't know either, so how can we? )too many holes on the rest of the jags roster to spend high picks on backs.Too many good backs in next years draft to roll with Shoelace long term.
they need play makers on defense and better depth everywhere, rb is arguably the easiest position to add depth cheaply. The Jags need to add talent. Dynasty players care about long term. I'm sure everyone reading this isn't just redraft.Who cares about long term, a season is happening now and he has relevance at this moment.

the linemen part is big. But guess which team ran for the most yards against the Browns this year? (granted, they also passed for the fewest yards)Fwiw the Browns have played some split backfields like NO and BAL I think every team has run for 100+ yards against them. What's with the comment at the end that it's "unlikely" that he won't be the starter over Gerhart going forward? Really?Faust said:
Interesting stat -- where'd it come from?Jacksonville Jaguars: On Denard Robinson’s 50 carries, he’s gotten at least 3 yards on 34 of them. That is a rate of 68% which is fourth-best in the league.
Denard Robinson played 46-of-74 snaps in Sunday's win over the Browns.
Storm Johnson was on the field for 10 snaps in a change-of-pace role. Jordan Todman remained Jacksonville's third-down back, getting 19 snaps. Robinson is expected to keep the starting job going forward, with Toby Gerhart likely to be a complementary option with Johnson when he returns. Robinson is one of the top waiver-adds for Week 8. He's a recommended pickup in Yahoo leagues, where he has WR eligibility.

Could be a decent speed/power combo but Robinson should be the lead back unless he shows otherwise. The full quote FWIW:From Rotoworkd...
When asked if Denard Robinson will keep the feature back job, coach Gus Bradley said, "Yeah, I think so."
Coach Gus Bradley hinted Monday that Robinson could be the team's top running back in the weeks to come, though he did hold out some hope for the man Robinson replaced. "Yeah, I think so," said Bradley, per The Florida Times-Union's Vito Stellino. "We'll look at the film. He did a good job and we hope to get Toby back."

Gerhart is terrible Drop him Immediately.I was still holding onto Gerhart in hopes that he would reclaim the role upon returning and I can't bring myself to drop him. Is one good game from Denard really enough to close of that possibility?
yeah, if Robinson got hurt yesterday Toby is still a drop.Gerhart is terrible Drop him Immediately.I was still holding onto Gerhart in hopes that he would reclaim the role upon returning and I can't bring myself to drop him. Is one good game from Denard really enough to close of that possibility?
yes. Had Gerhart and dropped him a week or two back. Was hopeful for him but they were clearly looking for a better option...gave Storm the first shot and the Denard the 2nd shot and he hit. Gerhart's "value" was that there was no one else on the roster and that he was going to get 20+ carries/game...that's clearly not going to happen.I was still holding onto Gerhart in hopes that he would reclaim the role upon returning and I can't bring myself to drop him. Robinson had the best performance of any running back against the Browns this year. Cleveland's defense isn't great, but it had never allowed 120 rushing yards before Robinson.I watched the replay of the game and he looked pretty good... granted it was against the Browns
I had Patterson and Harvin as my WR's so I skuttled them grabbed Beckham Jr. And picked up Robinson to fill in as a WR during the bye week. I have RBs so I'm starting 4 of them this way.So for those of us in Yahoo leagues, or other formats where he can count as either a WR or a RB, where does he have more value? Is the consistency of the RB position enough to vault him into very high upside WR3 status, or is his situation so fluid that one should start their less flexible pure WR options?
They allow 155.5 yards per game.Robinson had the best performance of any running back against the Browns this year. He's a horse but Yahoo lists him as Horse/Cow.Wait, is he listed as a horse or a cow? I'm in need of a cow.Hold your horses. That was 1 game.we have a new bellcow down in the Ville
I would also add that I think people also are quick to look at his measurables on ESPN and the Jags website and dismiss him as a COP guy, where he's somehow listed as 6'0" and 197lbs. At the combine he was 5'10" 199lbs. How'd he grow 2 inches and lose 3 lbs? Draft Scout lists him as 5104 in height (5'10.5" -- definitely not 6'0") and 199 from the combine. It was also widely reported this preseason that Denard was up to 212 lbs... so 5'10.5", 212lbs isn't the same as 6'0", 197lbs. They've got his 40 at 4.34 (faster than I even realized and faster than the NFL combine results site shows -- 4.43; though I've heard the NFL revises 40 times and Draft Scout updates them) with a 1.55 10-yard split. His vert was 36.5" and his broad was 10' 3". 7.09 3-cone; 4.22 short shuttle. Some things to keep in mind. First, Caldwell has always had a man-crush on Denard. He hasn't hidden it, and he wanted him on the field right away. It didn't pan out then, but Caldwell wants him to get a shot at it every day, and twice on Sunday. I would imagine his leash is as long as Caldwell can covince Bradley to make it. Second, position switches are tough, but Denard looked like a man who was getting it this preseason. Third, much like Edelman, Denard had to bulk up and work to enhance his elusiveness, athletcism and toughness. While you can't say he is all the way there yet, the man looks much more like a RB than a fast QB trying to play RB. His build will help him to stay healthier, and hopefully absorb the extra punishment he gets as an NFL RB. Anyway, my .02.
