Denarius Moore - CIncinnatti Bengals (3 Viewers)

Not to rain on any parades, but are we sure Denarius is going to be a starter when the rest of the WR core comes back? Any chance Al Davis forces Jacoby Ford and DHB down our throats as the passing game goes down the tubes?

How do we feel about his matchup this week vs NYJ? Considering starting him at wr3... :banned:
The big question is whether he gets banished to Revis Island. I suspect he will, since he's the most dangerous WR Oakland has right now. I'm following Manish Mehta on Twitter (link) to see if Revis will be on Moore - he's a good source for that kind of Jets info - and if he is, I'll sit him for one more week. Otherwise, I'm starting him over Percy Harvin as my WR3. :scared:

From today's chat, Raiders beat writer thinks Moore is the best Raiders wideout, "and it's not even close". Sorry Jacoby Ford. :o

Cork,...is it as obvious to you how much better of a receiaver D.Moore is than DHB? DHB catches with his chest and arms. D.Moore grabs the ball at it highest point with his hands. Do you think Hue get's the Big Man's blessing to demote DHB?

11:45 Steve Corkran: I have been on the record since the first couple of days in training camp that Denarious Moore is the best receiver on the Raiders roster, and that it's not even close. People dismissed me at the time, but Moore has validated everything I saw ... every day.

11:57 Steve Corkran: The plain truth is, Heyward-Bey is Oakland's sixth-best WR. He shouldn't be playing at all unless one of the top five is hurt.

Unless 'beat writer' suddenly means 'Al Davis' this is both meaningless AND old news.

:goodposting: Sad, but true

Another matchup to watch for according to Corkran is Denarius vs Revis. He could well draw Revis Island this weekend. That and Murphy is likely out another week. If Moore draws Revis, time to temper week 3 expectations.

does Revis always shadow one WR? I think its possible since there is no true number 1 that he wont shadow anyone in particular until one of there play forces him to.

I predict Denarius will catch at least two jump balls on Revis island this week. How long and where I don't know, but at least two.Revis will be shadowing DMoe all game long and will limit his opps overall. This will be a great test for the rook. I see a pick for Revis in this game as well.

revis usually just plays a side.
That's not what he did week 1. He started out covering Austin, then Dez burned Cromartie a few times and he quickly switched to covering Dez (who caught 1 more pass, I believe). Did not see the week 2 game, but the Jags have no threats at WR, so I wouldn't be surprised if he played a side there. If Ford plays, Revis might play a side here. If it's DHB or someone else, say goodbye to Denarius for the week.

And yet. For all this. He did not even get a target when the other guys were healthy. He is going to disappoint all you guys in here. He's going to go right back to the bench, not because he deserves it, but because Al Davis is nuts.

Revis v Moore on some of those marginal Campbell underthrown balls is gonna be fun to watch. The kid's got great instincts for the ball.

OK, you Denarius Moore nuts, there is garbage available ar WR on the waiver wire, D Alexander the notable exception, what kind of blind bid will it take from a $100 budget to get this guy?

There's an old saying, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it." ;) If it wasn't Al Davis, I'd go "All-In".

I actually think the best play here is to wait until after this week, when Moore will presumably struggle against the Jets D, and then try to buy him. I saw a lot from him against Buffalo which indicates that he can be a fantasy asset this year, and skittish owners might trade him for less if he has a down week this week.

A little frustrated in the FBG redraft info (a rarity) involving Moore. If you take a look at the Top 250 list you see where Moore is. However, the waiver wire article from just before that said Moore was the top pickup this week. Moore is way down in the Top 250 and the guys ranked behind him from the article have more projected redraft value. Nitpicking, sorry.

I'm satisfied though with my pickup as I'm in a dynasty league and I'm drunk from the Moore Cool-Aid. Could be by year's end his talent will have prevailed and he'll produce #1 type numbers. I'll take that from a WR5.

He'll be on the field plenty with Ford out in Week 3. I think this is just what the doctor ordered for his prospects.

how is j.ford doing and will he be playing on sunday?

12:24 Steve Corkran: Ford looks as if he's about ready to return. I expect to see him play WR and return kicks Sunday, yes.

That was game 1 and he's a rookie and they threw for 100 yards. He showed week 2 what he can do. This week is a tough matchup though.

I wasn't too impressed with that, either. WR54 moving forward, while Jacoby Ford is WR34. Really?

You saw what he can do. And I saw what he can do. What I'm saying is "Caveat Emptor" Al Davis is bananas.

If Moore is just as much Davis guy as DHB and everyone else, why wouldn't he want him to start?

That is probably based on them wanting to see how things shake out once Ford and DHB are back in the lineup.

Not going to happen by any stretch of the imagination. 1. Moore is not as good as Dez Bryant who caught 1 jump ball on Revis and then either injury or Revis shut him down.2. He is only 6' Moore is not a monster leap over someone like Randy Moss was. This kids has ups and I picked him up in both leagues, but he will not school Revis. If Revis is on him whole game he may finish without a catch.

Come on. Really? DHB was his big shiny new toy that he reached for in the draft. He's the epitome of an Al Davis guy. Big and fast. He's getting paid a ton of money. These things matter to Davis apparently considering his track record.

Moore and shinier and newer. You are going to have to do better than that.

I drafted him late, dropped like many after it appeared it would take a while for him to get involved in the offense, but was lucky enough to get him back this morning. Sitting him this week but I can definitely imagine a drop off after a matchup with Revis, and a re-drop. Many will have two shots at getting him.

People have short memories and many will be onto the next waiver flavor and he may appear expendable.

"Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) returned to Raiders practice Wednesday.

Heyward-Bey isn't worth rostering in fantasy leagues, but his return could put a dent into Denarius Moore's play time. Ideally, coach Hue Jackson would come out and confirm that Moore is a full-time player and starter over Heyward-Bey. Al Davis' involvement in lineup and personnel matters is a bit concerning here. "

Any news on what Moore's role was in practice?

I know. All those years he hung on to JaMarcus. Years and years, never allowing another QB to play......Can I get a quick rundown on the track record of hiding studs behind expensive toys? As a lifetime Raiders fan, I am having a tough time coming up with a list. This request applies to any other psychics out there that have the rundown on which players Al likes and doesn't like.

Nothing too enlightening but info none the less.

ContraCostaTimes.com Raiders practice report

"*Nick Miller and rookie Denarius Moore shared punt-return duties during practice. Miller has returned every punt for the Raiders this season.

Miller has yet to get untracked on punt or kick returns this season. He has averaged 9.5 yards on punt returns and 15.3 on kick returns.

If Ford can’t play Sunday, Miller, Moore, Taiwan Jones or Rock Cartwright will handle kick-return duties. Miller likely will remain on punt returns as long as he’s on the 53-man roster."

:yes:The truth is that any Raider on the roster is "Al's guy" until he's off the roster. Of course, he would still love to prove to the world he is right about DHB, but his track record is actually going with what works. It was very hard for Davis to let go of JaMarcus so early in his contract, but he recognized the mistake was going to affect the team negatively if he kept him, and let him go. For all the smack of Al Davis being stubborn and holding on too long to his "guys", in reality...he's shown that in his track record that he allows talent to emerge. There is no denying Moore's exceptional talent. Even Al Davis will not hold him back to placate DHB's draft status or any personal regrets over that pick. Al wants to win, and Moore and Ford will lead this wide receiving corp, whatever the depth chart shows notwithstanding. DHB will always get his chance to perform as long as he is a hard worker, and committed to contributing in any way asked. But DHB's role or share of Campbell's targets is bound to diminish as Moore/Ford form a dynamic WR force that is going to give opposing DC's migraines.

OK, you Denarius Moore nuts, there is garbage available ar WR on the waiver wire, D Alexander the notable exception, what kind of blind bid will it take from a $100 budget to get this guy?
You know your league better than anyone. I think in my league (10 teamer, deep rosters), $40 is 90% sure to take him. You're probably 50/50 around $30. In a deep 14 teamer, I could seem going for more than $70.

FBG waiver podcast recommended 33% for Moore. I think that's about right. But yeah, if you covet him and fear someone else does too, you might want to jack it up a bit.

Bench vs NYJ. After that, its go time.
Here too, and I think we might even regret this. One thing that stuck out about his week 2 highlights was on most plays, he wasn't really that open (McKelvin is a good CB), he just attacked the ball at it's apex and won the fight. If Campbell will chuck it at him, I imagine he'll haul down some of them against Revis as well. I'm not gambling on it with my other options but with lesser options I would be.:nobodycaresleagueposts:

Per Roto

"Jacoby Ford (hamstring) was held out of practice again on Thursday.

Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) is "going through the paces" at practice, a sign that he's not quite healthy just yet. Check back Friday to see if Denarius Moore looks like the No. 1 receiver again versus the Jets. With Ford out, Taiwan Jones is expected to return kickoffs this week. "
