FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki says that Raiders interim coach Tom Cable expects JaMarcus Russell to start Sunday.
That goes against local reports, in addition to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Rarely has a starting quarterback decision meant so little to fantasy leaguers. Andrew Walter would put the Raiders in an uncomfortable position if he played well in relief.
There has been nothing official yet on Culpepper, but the locals all expect him to start. None will say with certainty though. He reportedly took about 80% of the snaps Friday.
Proceed with caution here. This is the Lions we are talking about.

Everyone has been talking about the effect on CJ. I keep wondering if McDonald is the beneficiary with Culpepper, a bunch of dinks and dunks to keep the offense grounded???? A lot of down and outs and hook patterns are probably on the menu I'm guessing. But would, could, even Detroit start a QB who has not practiced for even a full week??? that's all it takes, just show up?
By the way, Jax is trying to avoid making history.
I'm starting Gaines hoping that Culpepper checks down to the TE like he did with Wiggins in Minnesota. My guess is that he throws deep or checks down to TE or RB.
if Culpepper works out the rest of the year, does the Lions go with him in 2009? the way it is going they will have a top 3 pick in 2009, if not the #1 pick

If he works out (and that's a big if), they will likely go with him and keep Stanton as a backup. They signed Culpepper for the rest of this year and next year. Kitna and Orlovsky are pretty much gone. They could also sign a vet backup and make Stanton #3. Stanton has (I believe) two years left on his contract after this year.
