Divisional Round Game Thread - Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants (2 Viewers)

thank you Donvan. Still don't know why we didn't do that during our other 3rd and 1`'s during the year, but that is automatic

Predictable playcalling, but I'll take it.

McNabb for the TD was huge there.

Getting the 7 there was obviously a big turn of events. Asante picking Eli in those winds, well - why exactly aren't the Giants running left all the time? They have 3 good RBs - they should be running over 65% of the time.

Those winds are huge, just like the last trip Philly took to the Meadowlands.

Does Philly host if they win? That is what the announcer said during last nights game but I thought the teams maintain their seeding (Arizona #4 and Philly #6). I didnt think homefield was determined by record.

Pats can't afford(or don't want to) re-sign Asante but they're going to franchise Cassel and have two expensive QBs.....geesh
They've always skimped in the secondary. Not a huge priority for them.

that and drafting a TE almost every year and no (key)rookie LBers most years....they need to rethink some things as they sit home and watch their boy playin'.

:goodposting: They should have signed him after 2006 to a semi reasonable contract. Once he started talking the numbers he got from Philly, there was NO CHANCE the Pats would sign him, nor should they have.

I am not liking what I am seeing from the Giants offense so far

Eli having a tough time throwing the ball

Seems like all the plays are being run to the Giants right side (at Assante) which can't be good

If I'm the Eagles, I love seeing Ward in the game and Jacobs on the bench.
you had to know Jacobs isn't 100% and in game shape. Easy to run your mouth about how good you feel when you are in practice, but playing at a playoff level i think his knee is still bothering him

I think you are gonna see when the teams have the wind at their back they wil take chances down the field. Going the other way it will be tight.

Agreed. I wonder if Jacobs is hurt. The Giants are not winning this game without Jacobs.
Nope. They do this all teh time. I owned Jacobs in fantasy and it frustrated the hell out of me.Ward is dangerous and can make some big plays, but he seems to have a ton of no-gains before it happens. Plus, it's a lot less of a pounding on teh defenders.

Considine with a big hit. I guess there's a first time for everything.

Coughlin has to simply be worried about Jacobs being hurt. That's the only posible reason to not play him all game long. The Giants are a completely different team with him on the field.

:lmao: They dont have to rethink a thing. They went 11-5 without Tom Brady and missing Adalius Thomas most of the year. They picked a pretty good LB last year in Jared Mayo. They have a 1st, 2 2nds and 2 3rds this year. They get Thomas back next year and need to draft to improve their pass rush. That will make the cornerbacks they have look very adequate.

2nd quarter - wind now changes for the teams. Who will take advantage?

Philadelphia won Q1 with the wind, 7-3. If they hold on to a lead into halftime, they should be very happy as they'll get the ball first after intermission.

Weird call for the Giants. 3rd and 7, empty backfield? Deep throw?

A first down and you enter long FG range.

Then Eli gets protection and throws deep into double coverage?

Seems like that call helped Philly.

The Giants are normally very good at running in the 4th Q, "back breaking" good like 5-7 yards per carry. The Eagles have fared far better against them in 08 though. 1 Brandon Jacobs rb 2007 6 34 5.67 1 0 3.40 2 Ahmad Bradshaw rb 2008 7 31 4.43 1 0 3.10 3 Derrick Ward rb 2007 4 23 5.75 1 0 2.30 4 Brandon Jacobs rb 2008 6 23 3.83 2 1 8.30 5 Reuben Droughns rb 2007 4 10 2.50 1 0 1.00 6 Derrick Ward rb 2008 4 2 0.50 0 0 0.40 Coughlin might be keeping some fresh legs for the 4th.
