DMB .. yes, this is the Dave Matthews Band thread (1 Viewer)

Anyone else get tickets through the warehouse? First time back as a member in 20 years. Got the two nights I wanted in NJ and Jones Beach NY so that $35 dollar membership fee worked out. Nice not having to go through the ticketmaster gauntlet for those. Those are pairs I got so the SO can come. Gonna look to score some singles as well to some other shows when they go on sale this Friday; easier to get those with TM than a pair. I enjoyed going to the NH venue last year so gonna probably do that again. Thinking maybe Saratoga as well the Sat before that which I could hit up on the way to NH. Camden is the Sat after which is a solid venue, but not sure I want to rush home from NH to see that. Got some logistics to figure out.
I did see that they are coming to my city for the first time in quite a few years, but my interest in them now is so low. It doesn't even look or feel like the same band that was good in the 90s and into the early 00s.
Where's that? I was feeling that way for a bit, but I'm back on the train. Not sure what happened for me, but went to a handful of shows last year and it lit a spark. Spent more time listening to their newer stuff and there's quite a few that I enjoyed. Certainly not as much as the earlier albums and naturally it will never be the same as it is for almost every band, but their live shows are still dynamite and I want to get a bunch in while we still can.
I figure we have 3-5 years left for the full band. At some point it'll be Dave and friends or Dave and Tim, I don't see Dave ever stopping playing.

Yep, I can only go to the Gorge this year because of other travel, but got what I wanted including pit again.
Very nice. The gorge should be on every live music fan's bucket list. I've been meaning to get back to Seattle so you just gave me a trip idea for next year.

Yeah. Not sure how long, but I'm not taking these years for granted. I didn't realize until recently that Carter was 66. Things will never be the same once he puts down the sticks. He's the heartbeat of the band imo.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the band is better than they've ever been. Buddy has really centered them imo. But then again I actually prefer the post-violin era anyway (another unpopular opinion).

Maryland Heights, MO (which is part of the metro St. Louis area for the most part).

Better than they have ever been? Are they releasing albums as good or better than their 90s albums??

I don't think this is unpopular, it may be for older fans who haven't seen them live in years. And tbh, the last few years of the Boyd years were really bad.

I don't know many DMB fans that go to shows that prefer studio anything. It's all about the live shows, and it's all I listen to. I am happy to share the live shows I have from SiriusXM from that last two years.

I can't think of a single album song I like better than the live version (even when the live version has a variety of iterations). Mmmmm....maybe Come Tomorrow just because it has Brandi Carlile's vocals. I really liked early DMB, but now looking back I realize just how much Dave's vocals have matured and the band is bringing out the best live work in each other in the Buddy era IMO.

Spoon is the other one, but they have done it live a few times with a female backing vocal like Molly Tuttle, it's excellent.

Maybe Dreams of Our Fathers ;) Listening to some of his 90s stuff, I didn't realize how nasally his voice sounded. It even grates me a bit listening to it.
