No. I am far too pessimistic to ever fly an American flag, but the guy 4 houses down from me has had a giant flagpole with an American flag on it since I moved into my house. Just last month he added a second flagpole to his front yard with a Marines flag on it.
You don't like Marines or you don't like flagpoles?
Nothing against Marines, but two massive flagpoles flying two massive flags towering over a neighborhood of single-story homes is a bit much. Guy's an ### too.
The guy being an ### may be the rub. Do you dislike all of the following?
Christmas decorations (especially giant manger scenes and Griswald lighting)
Halloween decorations
People wearing a cross or religious symbols
People wearing cloths with their college name
People wearing Sharks jerseys
People with Sharks or 49ers flags on theirs cars
Easter decorations
Garden gnomes
People with John McCain for president bumper stickers
Anyone with a bumper sticker
Someone with an "I'm with stupid" t-shirt with an arrow pointing in one direction
I could go on and on. To me if you dislike all of the above, then you're not a hypocrite. But displaying pride has a lot different applications, having pride in country or service is better than most IMO.
I'm not a religious person, but I respect those who have pride in their religion. Hell, I respect anyone with pride because it's something I think people fail to properly appreciate. Just my opinion, won't change the fact that guy is an ### I guess.
