California elected both Conan the Barbarian and a guy who was in a movie with a monkey as Governors. We elected a reality game show host as President. The Rock is a lock.
Why would he want to? Dude is raking in Brinks trucks of money from his movies and has built a personal brand empire that is pretty much unstoppable.....unless he runs for office. He couldn't afford anything from his squeaky clean image to come to light and steel cage matches are nothing compared to wrestling with the "other party" (not sure what flag he would run under) and the media.
I do think he could be a force. He is a leader and he is a solid business person at this point in his career, this guy is far from dumb. He did make Baywatch in the last many years but I can move past that.
California elected Arnold, that might have actually been the domino that sent the other guy there now also a celebrity to run the country.
People are goofy and many don't vie the Office as much of a "job" needing qualified people as they do someone who can inspire or lead, now understand not everyone is inspired equally but where The Rock has cache is that he seems very disciplined and has very few skeletons in his closet. His ex-wife is his manager and he is very family oriented, those things matter a ton of voters.
We've elected an Actor before 40 years ago, it could be done again if the right notes were hit. I know many would not take him seriously but he would have a likability factor that would be hard to measure, his platform would need to be fairly simple and easy to follow what his ideas would be.
The guy embodies getting up every day and working hard and working out and taking care of his loved ones and trying to market himself in the best ways he can. He is inspirational to a lot of folks.
President and elected officials are arguably the most important jobs in our country, yet the people somehow want and desire highly unqualified people, with virtually no experience and resumès normal employers would laugh at.......so, yes.
