my favorite segment- "in the papers"- where they cull through major papers (local and national) and pull out zeigeisty info- news and otherwise. great way of getting a sense of what's newsworthy every day within a couple minutes.
nobody else's local morning news does this?

IMO, a brilliant way of wrapping up everything that's going on

Anything above freezing in Minnesota before April was shorts and a t-shirt weather.
Hey Woz while I have you here...

My niece is trying to choose undergrads. She's very bright, scored really well on ACTs. Want to be a lawyer.

Shes down to UofM or Hamline for undergrad. Thoughts?

Never, like not in the last 15 years ever.  I can't imagine a reason to turn into local tv news for any reason whatsoever.

I remember Pat Kiernan from NY1 did that regularly with his morning show. Pat and NY1 were regular viewing for me when I was living in NYC.

i had a thing for Gigi Stone when she was on WPIX. She's been all over in the intervening years. She, at one point, was featured on some dating documentary in Manhattan and complained about being single. I was prepared to find her, profess my love for her but realized that I mostly felt like this guy.

Chicago has a version of NY1 called CLT. It sucks. Might as well be AM radio for all the pizzazz it offers up.

I think academically speaking and for getting into law school they're going to be about the same (I went to St. John's for undergrad).  Hamline used to run a program where if you went into Hamline and stayed through to law school you could cut a year off.  Since we combined with Mitchell I don't know whether this is still an option, but, in the event she wants to finish a year early (and save the costs) that's not a bad idea.  That said, college/law school are really good stress-free years so I don't know why she'd want to shorten them.

So, since I think they're about equal, I think it really boils down to whether she wants the small, liberal arts experience with small class sizes vs. the bigger school with probably more party/social options.

Every day, often twice a day.  I'm the morning while getting ready for work for weather, traffic and local news then again in the evening to find out what's currently happening.  No,longer watch Conn, fox, etc.  Too silly  and aggravating

Thx. I knew Hamline combined their Law school program. Didn't know if the undergrads were affected.

Question for the legal experts...how are they allowed to hire only hot chicks with big racks...the talent level on local news is very impressive but I would think at some point there would be a lawsuit about this...
One of our local girls, Kristina has a perfect body, and every day basically wears the same perfect dress (in different colors) to show it off. Bit of a butter face (if we're getting super critical), but damn that body is amazing.

Sometimes, just to root for the underdog, I watch the other girl. Can't find many pictures of her, but ol' Melissa is pretty plain in comparison. She's got a certain trashy quality that I find endearing. And she certainly doesn't have Kristina's tailor (well, her tailor doesn't have the same goods to work with).

Anyway, that's how I decide which channel to watch in the morning depending on my mood that day. No idea about the legality of the hiring process, but it seems safe to say, that a "good" weather girl can make or break local news ratings.

Whoever is doing the hiring of these gals (especially the weather-girls) is doing an excellent job...

Hell no, with one exception - serious weather (ice, tornados, etc).

Otherwise, it's 5-10 minutes of death/crime, 10 minutes of fluff or somebody getting screwed out of something, weather (which I can get online whenever I want) and sports (see weather). Complete waste of time.

So people are essentially whining abut the local news covering, you know, the local news? I guess if it bothers you than yea, probably should go ahead and skip it. But I admit to being totally befuddled at what you want them to cover. The national news I guess, which you can see on the national news?

I doubt it. The law school really is/was it's own entity (although it was nice that we could play intramurals with the undergrads).

But the undergrad and law school had the 3/3 six year thing as opposed to the normal 7 years it takes to do college plus law school. I just don't know if that's still available.
