I continue to assert that you can take any argument made here, do a keyword replace dog with kid and it would be just as valid an argument.
You arent wrong. I have kids, and i hate it when peoole have their kids in inappropriate places and/or can't control them as well. It is annoying.

Too often parents don't want to act like parents and they think they can still do all the things they did pre-kid. Too often dog owners think their dogs are a human part of the family and should be around more than they should be.
This is also all true.

And most places to eat out, even bars and breweries and a different, it's fine, IF you take the kid out and leave if they get fussy.

Yea sorry but I did and will continue to do stuff with my kids that I did before they were around and while I will be considerate you don’t get to dictate what i can or cannot do. Also I love you KP

After seeing some kids 1st birthday party at a brewery I say no kids there. After having a nice relaxing afternoon shattered after two kids fought over who got to throw the next bean bag, I say no kids. When I kids at home and I wanted to go out, I either got a baby sitter or I didn't go. Suck it up it up already. Get the baby sitter. $40 aint going to kill ya.

After seeing a dog w/loose stool drag his butt across the floor to "clean" it up, I didn't need to see another dog in a brewery ever again. Keep Fido home, or get the cans to do. Not everyone likes your fur baby. They are kinda like your FFL team. Don't kid yourself, no one cares about it or them, Leave them home, they'll be there when you get back.

At least the dog was courteous enough to clean up his own mess. Can’t say the same thing about little 2 year old Timmy who just puked up his dinosaur chicken nuggies.

Sir your dog just left a poop stripe on the ground.

No no no, that's clean.

@the moops - was this you?? ;)

:lmao: at $40 being the cost of the babysitter for an evening or day out. It's three-figures easily now - at least in my area.

It should only take a couple hours to hit a local brewery/restaurant. If you’re paying $50 an hour, I’m happy to send along my credentials!

It's $25/hour (AT LEAST, with two or more kids) and for date night most want a minimum of 4 hours in Dallas. And Dallas is not an expensive place for this stuff.

Good luck finding a cheaper (e.g., High schooler, middle schooler) babysitter available saturday afternoon midday either.

It's about $20-$25 per hour and like Instinctive said, rarely is that for just a couple of hours. My wife and I don't get many chances so we like to take advantage. A night or day or is usually lunch plus golf or dinner then some function or hitting up a wine bar or brewery. So, yeah, 4 hrs. or more each time easily.

And, yeah, if we want six hour in the middle of the day Saturday we are trying to find somebody weeks out and we pay those sitters well so they want to keep doing it.

You and @Instinctive need to put together a babysitting co-op with your friend group.

You think those floors were squeaky clean before the poop stripe?

But wait, I am also not justifying bringing a sick dog to a restaurant.

This seems snarky. My suggestion was a real one. We had one for a time with our social group and it saved a lot of money in babysitting fees. Friends would drop their kids off at our house when they went out and they would reciprocate when we did the same. It didn’t always work out, but it did enough to make it completely worthwhile.

This works great if you have three or four close families whose kids are similar aged and get along. We had that happen when I was growing up and we hung out as kids with our friends and parents go to go do their thing. Great suggestion.

Will have to try it once the kids are a little more self sufficient. Right now we've all got infants sub 1-2 years old.

And of course...these are the same people I'd want at the brewery with us! Lol.

There was a time we had a 3 year old and twin newborns. We didn't go anywhere, for like......5 years. Forget a babysitter, by age 2 our twins were locking me out of the house and climbing up on our fireplace mantle.

We will have a newborn any day now. Our first hits ten months this week. Our second is due end of month but anything can happen! I keep making plans and adding "unless I'm at the hospital but I hope you'll understand that" haha

Yeah, the bolded is an issue. I guess tackle it like the designated driver, except it’s the designated babysitter. Each couple misses out once per rotation.

Dont want to put words in your mouth, but it sure reads like you are arguing that ...

The floor might be dirty already therefore dog poop on the floor is inconsequential.

I guess we know who doesn’t make FBG money… ;)

Seriously: kids (and pets) come with responsibilities. Can’t always act like you are single or kidless. Shrugs.

Another horror story. Was out later in the evening with the wife. Enjoying the empty-nest. Saw one of my daughters’ dance teacher out at same brewery. At 10:30pm. Holding an infant. The kid was maybe 1year. It was stupid loud and stupid packed with drunk peeps. Leave the kid at home, it was way too loud for that kid. Some local band was playing, hard to even talk. Poor kid is going to get tinnitus/hearing loss before it even knows what headphones are.

No. I’m not. More that people in the thread are acting like floors in general are somehow clean, when they are not. And bringing a dog doesn’t generally change that.

It’s once again bad owners who are either bringing a sick dog out or bringing an untrained dog out.

We have done something like this or, thinking back, the common maneuver was to have like ten kids pooled together, pay two babysitters, then split the cost.

But, frankly, we pay the expense for a babysitter so that my wife and I have alone time together where we aren't just exhausted after putting the kids together. That wouldn't really work for a co-op. I think my wife and one of her friends have maybe 1-2 times taken turns watching the others' kids.

Also, our 4 kids (2 have pretty tough behavioral health issues and the other two aren't exactly angels either) are a handful so we usually stick to paying the one reliable sitter.

Gotta say, I'm enjoying the comedy of a poster named "Irish Twinkie" posting in here after learning @Instinctive is about as close to Irish Twins as one can get with a 10 month old and newborn imminent.
HAHAHA

Not everyone frequents the pregnancy troubles thread - they literally could not have been born this close together except that #2 is with a surrogate.
I currently have three (3) nine-year-olds... none of them are twins.

Can I shoot you a PM next time my kids act up so badly I seriously question why I opted for four of them?

Ok, just so I am clear... Dont want to put words in your mouth...

But you mostly just want people that dont want dogs in restaurants to understand that people should be able to bring dogs in and lay on the floor because the floor is already really dirty?

I’m really just disagreeing with this notion that dogs are these horribly dirty animals that spread disease. It’s way overblown in this thread.

If people should be disallowed from bringing dogs to restaurants, it’s because of bad dog owners, not because of dogs in general. A dog laying underneath a table is causing no one any harm whatsoever.

This from a guy whose avatar used to be a dog dragging his butt along the floor.

(I think this was you but I may be misremembering)

Oh, I agree. The dog didn’t want to go the brewery. The crappy selfish owners did. It isn’t the dogs fault it’s there. Just like the 1 year didn’t want its birthday party to be at a brewery. We can’t ban the people, so ban the dogs.

I’ve seen about 1 dog at a brewery that should have been there. And it had the coolest most considerate owners. I don’t think that was a coincidence. Most dogs I’ve seen shouldnt be there and the owners should know it but don’t care.

(Edit: Typing on a phone is so annoying...)

Several breweries around Tampa Bay allow it. It doesn't bother me at all as long as they're all leashed and well behaved. If they're barky or aggressive, leave them at home.

By my count there are 18 service dogs getting onto my flight. One family has 3. One per kid. Several are barking at each other which tells me they are not real service dogs. Most are super well behaved. Waiting for 101 Dalmatians to break out on the flight.

Went to a very popular brewery in Central Mass this evening. Counted 9 dogs inside the main building. Walked by one little rat dog who was barking at everyone who passed him. Heard 3 dog vs dog confrontations and only saw one dog under the table, the rest were in the walkways. The one under the table was afraid and was the source of 2 of the dog vs dog confrontations. Was only there for about a hour. Thankfully none of the dogs lost control over their bowels.
