Dolphin Players bullied Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito SUSPENDED (3 Viewers)

He just dodged the question of whether he knew. That's not good. As in really, really, not good.
Keep updating, please. Can't get video to work.
It's over jurb. Damn, wish you would have seen it. It was short. He was riffing at the beginning, talking about his kids go to school near the stadium, something, something...etc. Then he got in a plug for his owner - easy to tell he was told to do it. Out of nowhere says the owner handled everything promptly and took proper steps.

Said the NFL was contacted and are doing an investigation and has already made recommendations.

When asked if he had "any inkling" of any problems he said it's the NFL's job to find that in their investigation.

Later said when he spoke to Martin that he didn't hear anything that was inappropriate.

Then rushed off the podium by a Miami PR guy while reporters yelled.

Now I'm Richie's father 43,000 posts in?

This place is hilarious.
I thought most people would know that you'd be siding with the mentally unstable white guy.
And I think most people know Skribbles by now that you are a complete and utter *expletive* who has burned thru so many log ins along the way trying to take pot shots on a faceless message board. Continuing to post here when the rules clearly lay out these type of posts are not acceptable.

You are one of the bullies on this board and you have had umpteen log ins taken away because of it. Maybe Bob Magaw who is FBG staff and following this thread should look into the matter with you.

Philbin opened by saying in all of his conversations, Martin never once said anything about abuse.

When asked about details, Philbin keeps saying "That is a matter for the NFL review committee" and "All conversations between me and players is confidential."

So when it suits the Phins cause he is quoting conversations. Otherwise he is dodging. Not a good sign.

Agree

Oh my, thanks Hoss sounds like evasive behavior to me. Onion layers are going to peal off and the stench will be foul and strong!

I would pay money to watch the "punch the bully in the mouth" crowd - try punching Incognito in the mouth.
Let me ask you......would you rather take a chance and punch a guy in the mouth or give him 100,000 dollars of your money.
$100k, I'm short and don't like pain.
What if you were 6'5 320
What if the guy I'm punching is 6'3"/320 and insane?

I might not worry about the fight. But I'd worry about my back being turned after the fight.
If Incognito went that route he would be brought up on real charges for assault. If Martin duked it out in closed practices every time Incognito opened his mouth, none of this would be in the news right now.
Dead men can't testify.

Why do you think that is not a good sign?

Philbin couldn't even answer a "Is there racism in the team?"

He had to give the "The NFL is reviewing the situation... blah blah blah...."

You kidding?

... Martin may not ever wear a uniform again either. Done in Miami, but maybe the NFL as well.
Not easy to do this, but:

If this had happened on another team, would you feel like Martin deserved to play elsewhere after the smoke clears? Or would you feel like he should pay for ... let's call it ... "breaking the code".

Honest question. How many NFL owners, GMs or coaches really care about their players? Dollars and cents, and number of games won.

Now you are starting to understand the frustration by the fans down here, good. MTS, we really are on the same side here. This will probably in the end lead to some sort of new player conduct and wipe out 50-75% of the current hazing, some hazing will always happen just like I believe Bountygate was not isolated and it still happens on smaller scales.

The leadership from owner/GM/HC is putrid and this is what happens when you have poor leadership, there is a big lesson to be learned here beyond not extorting your teammates for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Incognito being a big dumb bully, I bet if Martin stood up to him, he would have left him alone from then on.

But if Martin isn't wired that way, that's fine. He should've taken to the coach or the GM or maybe some other veteran teammates.

Am i the only one who doesn't think the texts are as bad as i was expecting given the huge whirlwind on espn etc? Maybe somethings wrong with me but i just don't see the threats. Taken in a vacuum they seem bad but put together with the pictures together, the birthday well wishes, the shout outs etc, it seems like he was busting his balls. Overdone yes, very immature yes but im not seeing the omg here.
How about the assumptions that he can extort $$$ from rookies? Telling the local media that THill will just buy them jet skis and he'll do it with a smile. How about telling Martin he had to pay him $15k for a Vegas try martin was skipping?
I do not agree with this either, but 15k for a guy making about 1.2 mil a year is like .0013% of his yearly salary. Comparatively, that is like less than $50 for a person making 40k. This isn't like a mafia level extortion ring or anything.
I think you make an excellent point, but it's not really the same. The guy making 40k might make that for 40-50 years(maybe longer the way social security may end up shaking out) but the guy making $1.2mil is doing so for a very, very short window even if you assume he won't have a major injury.

People make this same mistake when they say fines are nothing. This is part of the money these guys SHOULD be able to retire on. Put $15k in a conservative investment for a 24yo. What's it look like when he's 70?

My point is these numbers are small in comparison to their current salary, yes. But how long with they have that salary?

Yeah, I agree.

Honest answer. Nobody has any idea.
Fair enough. I get the impression they love the player when it's good, and see them as disposable pieces when things are bad. Well, except for Tom Brady. Everyone treats him like he invented football.

Several GMs chimed in today behind the scenes and they did not think highly of how Martin handled this.
Of course they wouldn't. Puts them in a huge bind as GMs. Not really interested in their takes, as nothing is added to the discussion.
I understand DB, it was a blurb that someone who couldn't name names wanted to inject but I think what it eludes to is no team in the NFL is gonna want to touch Martin after this incident, they simply won't invite him into camp.

Do you think Martin would be welcomed at a new team? You think any locker room is gonna want to play with him? I'm thinking no but maybe I am in the minority on this.

I'm not ripping on Martin or saying what he did was wrong, he had few options and most of the others were not good either as some have eluded to in here like punching Incognito out.

Would you have hit him?
You may not be aware, but players throw fisticuffs in closed practices all the time. Yes, if I were Martin, I would have repeatedly taken care of it on the field until it stopped off the field.

Dolphin Fan here. I think Incognito knew this was going to screw him bc he played like crap thursday night right up until he got hurt. As it is I am really embarrassed that "once again" we have a clown organization that is the laughingstock of the league.

Can't we get some professional people and players in here that make this team the team it was when shula was coach. You think this crap would have gone on this way if the Don was still coaching?

I am so disgusted. On the bright side, I expect the O line to play better now.

Gator

PS. I wonder how much of this Jake Long was involved in, and whether that was part of the reason he left Miami.

Dude, why do you insist over and over again in this thread on dragging Martin through the dirt? You just can't seem to help yourself I guess. You even posted rumors earlier about the guy's sexual orientation. Others have called you out on it but you still insist on doing it. Why don't you just accept the fact that your beloved Dolphins are a festering sore of an Organization and focus on how and why they allowed this type of thug atmosphere to pervade the clubhouse? Seriously.
Don't want to speak for MOP ... but I can understand having vitriol against the person perceived to have brought my team down, right/wrong be dam[n]ed. Felt that way about Gregg Williams at one time.

No. Would YOU hit him, if he was bullying you?

Goodell will love that. It runs rampant my FGB folks, we're desk jockeys they play professional football. This is part of the NFL fabric whether you like it or not.

One thing that Philbin brought up in the presser - Incognito was voted to the "Leadership" thingy by his teammates. I'm not saying he's not a d-bag, but it seems he just hit the easy targets and rode them mercilessly but left those alone that he knew would turn the team against him.

Seems to me that Martin was in the O-Line clique and Incognito really abused him. It'll be interesting as more info comes out.

Belichick handles the press masterfully. All HCs should take notes. Philbin aint no Belichick. If you get as good as Belichick and want to get cute, then you can start studying Parcells, but there is great risk with his style. Just feed the press nothing and you don't get poop flying back in your face.

Thanks for your insight into the NFL 'fabric'.

Great post, I asked a similar question in this thread or the other one in reference to Jake Long because Miami matched the money and he bolted anyways.

So the situation you are imagining is that Ritchie Incognito comes into my work on a daily basis and bullies me, so I have to make the choice? Or, is the situation that I am another lineman for the Dolphins and have to deal with him daily? You can see the problem with your question now.

And that's what bullies do, they go after the weakest link not the strongest. Just adds more credence to Richie being the d-bag he is.

You kidding?
What do you expect him to say?
Is there racism is a softball question. I expected him to say no. I wanted him to say "We are going to talk about Tampa Bay"
Then what questions do you expect the press to ask?
Well, in defense of the media, they didn't have much time. There were a few good questions, and a few bad ones, like "Is there racism?". Specific questions about situations tend to get better answers (if they answer at all).

Haha, funny you metion this. I was actually thinking during the presser "Philbin should call Belichick for a few tips".

If he was bullying you, would you hit him? You are making a complex situation black and white, when suggesting your solution. Why can't you do the same while answering my question?
