Domanick Davis (1 Viewer)

With the ongoing rotation in Houston these days, is the organization hoping to find next year's feature back now, or will DD be ready to resume the role?

Thoughts?

The latest official report I've seen is this from september

"(Rotoworld) The Houston Chronicle believes Domanick Davis won't play another game for the franchise.

Impact: Things can change awfully fast in this sport. Kudos to Davis' agent for getting a great contract for him last August, because he's unlikely to get another. Even if Davis gets close to healthy again, which is uncertain, it's unlikely Houston will want him back at his salary."

I would say they draft A. Peterson and let Gado back him up and try and trade DD for some draft picks or trade DD before the draft and get some picks + Peterson. I would say he is done.

There has been nothing really said either way on DomDavis that I have seen. My guess is that we won't get a real sense of where he is until training camp at the earliest. If the Texans management is wise it will procede as if he will not play and be happy if they are able to get anything out of him. For Dynasty purposes, i would hold onto him if already rostered or if I were to acquire him, I would not spend much more than you would on a rookie flier type (I will let you figure out what that is in your particular league).

:goodposting: DD is also a holdover from the previous regime, not one of Kubiak's players. Even if proclaimed healthy, that's another thing working against his return as the starter.

I think they reach an injury settlement with him in March making him a free agent. He would then try to sign with another team if he becomes healthy enough to play again. Stephen Davis is an example of a player doing this. Domanick’s base salaries for the next three years are 3,340,000, 4,180,000, and 4,550,000. His cap charge is going to be higher still because his signing bonus is spread out over the length of the contract and those numbers do not contain any bonuses he might earn. There is no way he makes the team at that salary. They can not cut him because of the huge cap hit. If they wait too long, they have to restructure the contract instead of doing the injury settlement.
