DONE DEAL: Randy Moss to Vikings trade (1 Viewer)

If this happens this week Moss would play 17 games...no bye week.

I have Favre and Moss in about 10 leagues each.

I have Brady in 0 out of 26 leagues.

I have all 3 Moss jersey's so I can just dust off the old one as long as he goes back to # 84.

At 1st I thought this sucked...the more I think about it the more I like it actually.

I am torn but leaning toward the deal taking place as making me happy.

Hmmmm.

Think on this, I will.
:goodposting:

Heard from someone else who thinks this is going to happen and it's not just a rumor.
No it's not a rumor. Contract is already being negotiated. Vikes want to sign Moss to long term deal to "retire as a Viking" - Moss doesn't want that as this is clearly Favre's last year and they have no one behind him. But you'd think it'd be smart from a money POV for Moss to the long term deal.

The Pats are definitely a less formidable team without Moss? Yes, Tate,'s fantasy stock goe s up, but the Pats NFL stock goes down. Moss commands the attention of a team's #1 CB and i5/ safety, allowing alternate passing lanes for exploitation by Brady.

The Pats window is now! They'd be better off paying Moss and being an elite contender for the ne6 2 years

No way they can compete with the Jets Ravens Pitt. They are a notch below and that defense is not taking them anywhere unless they get the special teams play they got last nightand everyone knows that isn't going to happen. They were getting out played by Miami last night minus some bonehead plays by a average QB in Henne. If they thought they were the team to beat or even one of them would they be talking trade of the most dangerous wr in the game? NO
Disagree with pretty much the whole post, but I'll leave it at that. Thankfully, we'll find out just how good they are soon enough. Ravens @ Patriots in week 6 will be a good one.

The Patriots are in obvious re-building mode around Brady. They have already added some good pieces of defense (Chung) and Offense (Hernandez). With this trade means the Patriots offense reverts to their pre-2007 form of spreading the ball around to several different receivers. I can 3-4 WR getting 700+ yards this season.

Is there any player OTHER than Tate that the Pats currently have rostered that they could slot into Moss's position?

Don't know New England's roster well.

Isn't Rice a FA after this season? Does MIN let him go since he's basically Moss Lite?
Not even in the same mold at all. Rice can run the entire route tree, not nearly as fast. I actually think they would compliment each other very well and put Harvin in his natural position which is the slot

I've learned that when it comes to the playoffs, if a team is good enough to make it, they're good enough to win any of the games. Too many unpredictable things happen in a football game that can swing things in favor of the underdog.

Correct. The Patriots would be negotiating the contract.
the glazer tweet says that the vikings and moss [his agent, presumeably] are negotiating a new contract.why would the patriots care about anything other than compensation? you two have lost me...

Good posting, and something I predicted after the '07 debacle.

Taylor Price once he becomes acclimated to the offensive system? He reputedly flashed real playmaking talent in camp.

The Patriots would be the "middle man" in the discussions is all. It keeps it strictly business in the conversations.

to be honest, this is EXACTLY what the vikings need, and represents a good opportunity to get residual value for moss.

on the emotional side, i hate it. i wanted moss to retire a patriot.

Moss agent can negotiate the contract through the Pats if need be, and it would still be Moss and his agent negotiating with the Vikes. I believe the issue is how this hits the Vikes and Pats cap this year, as bonuses all accelerate - anyone else know if that's correct?

No they wouldn't. The only thing the Patriots would be negotiating is the compensation they get for trading him. Moss and the Vikes negotiate the contract. Pats could care less if they trade him.

Aside from 2 ill-advised throws, Henne tore apart the Patriot D. And Brady was under pressure from Wake much of the first half. However, with Brady QBing a 3-1 team, I doubt if coach B thinks they're out of it this year. It would take lots of ego to replace Moss with Tate, not to mention that Moss is almost never injured while Tate missed most of 2008 and 2009 with injuries.

Capless season.

Really late to the party on this, been tied up tonight. This would explain moss just walking thru the motions the other night. he really looked like he was playing not to get injured.

I'm not sure what moss could do in Minnesota but I'm sure Brett Favre can chuck it down the field a few times a game to him to stretch the defense in hopes to create running lanes for ADP.

I never saw this coming but if Glazer is reporting they are close, sounds like it is gonna get done.

I love the SP

I don't agree. After watching all the young guys in the secondary, and Edelman, Gronk, Hernandez, Tate, Danny Woodhead, BJGE...it occurred to me last night how young they are and how dangerous they will be after this year FOR about 3 years.

And, they are back to the functional, role players doing what they do. I think it's an amazingly astute move.
