DONE DEAL: Randy Moss to Vikings trade (1 Viewer)

This would likely open up a spot for Julian Edelman, who they're extremely high on, as well. I believe Edelman is a sure-fire future FF stud (especially in PPR leagues). What he's accomplished so far in his pro career at WR after playing QB in college is remarkable. In fact, truth be known, he could do what Welker is doing right now, possibly better, IMO. And if not now, in the near future. That's how good this kid can be as a slot guy.
Welker and Edelman play the slot and neither one really translates to playing on the outside or is a deep threat. Edelamn would probably see some more time on the field, but I don't think that makes him a starter as long as Welker is healthy and around.
Any thoughts on Tate's value if this trade happens?
It won't go down any.I wonder if this is only one piece of the puzzle and that the Pats might be talking to SD about getting Vincent Jackson (and that is TOTALLY speculation on my part).
Bingo- what I was thinking

Another 1st round pick for the Pats? And then maybe whatever they can get for Mankins... plus all the draft picks they've already accumulated. Plus boatloads of young talent already on the roster. Plus Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Wow.
Rumor is the Pats would get a 3rd round pick.

If this happens- how fast can Moss learn the Minn plays, etc? or do they just send him straight out and chuck it.

Haven't read through this entire thread, but for those who think this would be a big upgrade for Moss -- why?
becauz I play against him this week and he is currently on a bye :lmao:
Because Farve will force feed him all day long, open or not.
And in my opinion Moss is still a damn good wide receiver. More targets for a great player means a greater chance for increased production. I think it's safe to say Moss wouldn't be fourth on the Vikings in receptions like he currently is in New England.

no bye for Moss could be huge for Moss owner
This is another huge bonus. Of course the first matchup against Revis wouldn't be any fun but he has one more coming against Revis anyway.

I dont know about big upgrade but targets alone will be an upgrade, moss has been pretty quite in NE going back to the second half of last year. whens the last time the guy has broke 100 yards? it has to go up imo....

I wasn't. Maybe Buffalo thought it was getting a higher fourth from Seattle then it would from GB (not that I agree with our injuries thus far this season)? Wouldn't be the first time GB was used as leverage for another team (which is what I think happened with Moss to NE). But, like I've said before, the Packers have historically (modern era) been a pass first team...even in the halcyon days of Dorsey Levens. They have, and will continue to, run just enough to set up the pass...which I think they can do with Kuhn and Jackson. What they can't, and haven't shown a proclivity for anyway, is control the clock through running. /hijack

You would know the Pack better then me. I still think BJ and Kuhn do not scare anyone on play action and Lynch would have been an upgrade that is needed pretty bad for GB. Only time will tell.

sidney rice had such a year last year because favre loves to throw it up to his wr. there is literaly no one better in the league at this than moss. hes had such a horrible year because when he tosses it up to berrian it gets picked off.

Anyone else worried if this trade DOESN'T happen? This could kill fantasy owners if Moss is disgruntled and dogs it the rest of the season.

Not to hijack the thread, but it would have been a huge addition. However, that's not Ted Thompson's style. He HATES to part with top draft picks for players and he's not an aggressive GM. He's the anti-Ron Wolf in that regard. That's why I never believed a Lynch trade would happen. If the Vikings did this the same day (or one day later) after Lynch was traded for a easy price to pay Packer fans are going to be mighty upset. And with just cause. The Vikings will have gone out and addressed their No. 1 need while Thompson sat on the sidelines again.

According to WEEI the players had today off and Moss was nowhere near the stadium.

I think that anyone who assumes that Hernandez's value goes up is way off base. Does anyone really think he's going to avg more than 5 - 60 the rest of the season? He'll probably get some more TD looks but he's no Moss. Basically, he's already on pace for 900+ yards with Moss to think he'll get much more than that isn't realistic.
It solidfies him. Rock solid.
Exactly. If you already thought of him as solid (me) then his value remains the same.
His end zone looks are more limited with Moss around.
Right, I addressed that in my first post. He will get more redzone opportunities but you can't predict TDs anyways. Really you just want a guy who will get targets, redzone or otherwise, the TDs will come if the guy is targeted enough. My only point is that his value doesn't 'skyrocket'. He will keep the same pace for receptions and yardage (5/60) and he will get some TDs which should have been expected anyways. I already have him pegged for 900+ 6TDs

If true, this could be the straw that broke the camels back. Moss was unhappy about how he was used last night and BB called the Vikings to discuss a deal. Good riddance.

Welker's not 100%. Imagine if he misses time - then Brady would have a chance to prove that he's the GOAT.
Yeah, he's been so spoiled with great WRs throughout his career. Imagine if he got stuck throwing to Deion Branch/David Givens quality receivers! He probably wouldn't accomplish much of anything.

He's very familiar with the Dome and actually uses the video screens in that building to throw defenders off. It was documented when he 1st came into the league. He can run routes in the place without looking for the ball while monitoring the screens with his eyes and turn at the last minute to make some pretty amazing circus catches. Carter taught him how to do it and for whatever reason it works really well in that particluar Dome. I found this link Scroll to Ch 2

Yep, this. Here are Moss' numbers for his last 12 games with NE:39/560/9The TD's are nice and all, but those receiving numbers are pretty pedestrian.

It honestly can't be much worse than it already is. He's averaging two receptions per game. How much worse could things get? If he came out of the bye and had a couple more dog games at least Moss owners could then bench him with some confidence.

Could be, but he just tweeted this minutes ago, and he is a beat writer for them.Besides, just because they don't practice on Tuesday, doesn't mean they don't show up. Many do for treatment, workouts, etc.

Tom Curran just tweeted Moss showed up mad today and had words with BB. He thinks its a done deal if Moss and Vikes can come to terms

The whole team is off until Thursday... but you know Belichick was probably there, and it's not out of the question that Moss may have been, too.

No, they really don't scare anyone. That being said, Kuhn has been surprisingly decent between the tackles. The issue is that once he gets to the next level, there's nothing there, no speed whatsoever.

Reggie Bush chimes in on Twitter:

Whoa Randy Moss to Vikings? That's crazy! They trying to win NOW!!!! LMAO!

2011 training camp ... Moss, a headache-free Harvin and a healthy Rice are in the fold when Favre reports on September 1.

Wow. He might agree to play until he's 46.

As a Vikings fan I would love this. I didn't like the Vjax trade, but I suspect Moss would come cheaper, and he SHOULD retire in purple anyway. And go into the HOF in purple. Give a third, sign him to a deal where he retires in MN, and get it down.

I could see his value potentially rising this year in re-draft but what about dynasty prospects? The Vikings QB situation will probably be dicey next season and likely for the foreseeable future. Lot of competition at WR/TE, too.

Bloody heck.

I can't believe this is happening.

FF-wise, great, exciting news. I am trying leverage my whole team to get Moss as are most people, he may do some serious damage in Minny.

Bad for Brady's FF value though I think, at least for a while.

But Moss has never had and will never have a better home than Boston and Boston will never have a better WR threat than Moss. This is cutting noses and faces all over the place.

Where are you guys hearing that it's a 3rd? I'd think the Pats would be able to fleece Minnesota for at least a 2nd, if not a 1st.
