DONE DEAL: Randy Moss to Vikings trade (1 Viewer)

Glad to see Childress is still on top of things. When asked about the Moss rumors (per Florio):

"I don't know anything about it. I'm watching film. I'm just sitting here watching the Jets and Patriots play," Childress said.

FWIW, someone should tell Chilly the Jets have played a game since then.
Who said he was watching the Jets?
Good point. He's probably preparing for the Pat's game.
When you are getting a new toy you want to see how it works...If this happens the Halloween game would be huge fun.

(It's worth noting Childress also told his coaching staff to clumsily lie about players visiting Brett Favre in Mississippi back in August.)
You would think Childress would tell his coaching staff to skillfully lie.

Nah, he was beating it to Randy Moss highlights.
And notice, he wasn't watching last night's decoy debacle. He watched a game Randy actually played in...

Bad image... I mean, really bad image.

John Clayton is seconding Glazer's report that talks are expected to continue tomorrow. He also said they could go on throughout the night tonight. As others noted, the Patriots are off until Thursday this week.

Where are you guys hearing that it's a 3rd? I'd think the Pats would be able to fleece Minnesota for at least a 2nd, if not a 1st.
A 1st? There is absolutely no chance that pats get a first for Moss.
I thought the Pats didn't like 1st round picks. They, just like the Packers, like 3rd round picks because of the value. :bag:
BB doesn't like to pay 1st round money when you get equivalent talent in the second round.
Sounds like a nice way to make yourself feel better...I guess when they don't make the playoffs, it's by choice too?

We also value Superbowl rings. :)
LOL. Just old rings, right. No need to a shiny new one this year. One RB away... :bag: The Packer games would get more this year interesting too. Rice could return for that one. Without Moss, that could be the week the Pack finally beats Favre. With Moss, I don't see them beating the Vikes. Great big fun though...The question is, who do the Vikes try to get in a trade next? I heard that Chris Johnson has been dogging it for a couple of weeks. I wonder why.......

So basically, Simmons puts it out there... Glazer confirms. Schefter confirms. Clayton confirms.Don't wanna be left out just in case it happens! :bag:

So......the golden question here is....do we burn a high waiver pick on Tate thinking this will happen or sit tight?

Yeah he is.... He is ####### off to Moss' one handed catch over Revis. "Please come play for me!!"

I would if he were available. It just seems like a rumor that has legs. We know Moss hasn't been happy this season with his contract. We know that the Pats like to get some value from a vet before the jettison them. We know the Vikings need WR help. Moss is a former Viking and it is conceivable he would like to come back and end his career there. Favre would love to have a real WR target and after spending the bank on Favre for this season the Vikings are sort of "All In."

Glazer confirming the roster spot the Vikings created today was done so in order to try and add Moss.

Safe to say this is serious.

There is only one real take-away from this news so far. Even without a trade, the odds of the Pats re-signing Moss have diminished greatly today. So in dynasty, it's a no-brainer of course. For this year? Well, he's probably as good as a bet that there is other than in shallow leagues were a Donald Brown could be available if Addai gets hurt (and other similar injury scenarios), etc.

True. I also read before all this Moss stuff broke out that they didn't fill the roster spot by the deadline today. As I'm reading that I was think WTF? Why would they do that?

Vikings beat reporter just tweeted that on a scale of 1-10 with a 10 meaning it's happening, he gave it a 7.

So for those of you thinking of grabbing Tate, what level of WR would you be willing to drop in a ppr league? Knox? Murphy? Amendola?
I'd rank them:KnoxMurphy/TateAmendolaKnox looks like the clear No. 1 WR in Chicago if Cutler has his wits about him. I like Murphy but the shoulder injury is a concern. So that's why I'd view him and Tate on the same level. Love what I've seen from Amendola but unlike the other three I don't see him being a good bet for touchdowns.

Chilly really needs to find a different card to play in these situations. He ALWAYS claims he doesn't know what's going on. Either he really is that clueless or he's just a compulsive liar. Either way, he looks bad. Just say "no comment" or something. Obviously any coach has to BS once in a while as part of his job, but c'mon...get a new line at least. :pokey:

Maybe, but he only has 12 receptions through 4 games. In a ppr, that's not getting it done.

In a redraft league, I'm not so sure Tate would get to a fantasy WR3 level. I think Hernandez would probably be the biggest beneficiary and the other options would get a slight boost. Tate might be looking at 600+ yards on the season, but he wouldn't come close to Moss' numbers (at least not this year if ever) and at this point hasn't been a red zone threat.

He also topped 85 yards receiving twice. I think we can throw out Sunday night because it was an epic fail. But the Bears can't run it so they'll be throwing it a ton most weeks. As long as Cutler doesn't go brain dead again I would anticipate Knox getting good production. Of the four WRs on the list above I think he has the highest upside. I like Tate's potential but he'll have to compete with Welker and Hernandez for catches and Red Zone looks.

True, but if Moss leaves, those Brady darts have to go somewhere. If you're in a redraft, I'd wait until confirmed. If in dynasty... this is music to the ears of Tate owners (me being one).

While Tate was impressive last night, I don't think you'll see him as a true #1. You'll just see what little targets Moss had spread around to all the rest.

@Mimn- Agreed, really don't want to see Moss back in Minny this or any year. The way things have been going lately, especially with our recent injuries, Favre might put two up on us again this year.

Mort just Tweeted that the Patriots are "ready to cut cord" with Moss.
Milling through a bunch of stuff tonight, I thought someone claimed Moss and BB had it out and Moss was said to have said he won't play another game for NE. Who knows if that is what was actually said, but if it is it would make Moss playing out the year in NE hard to navigate around. It also would mean the Pats would have to take whatever they could get for him rather than take time to shop him around (which it sounds like they may have started doing any way).

I alluded to this earlier. If the report about Moss/Belichick is true, I think the Patriots have to make a concerted effort to trade Moss. Do they really want to have that cloud hanging over their heads the rest of the season? You have a player you likely won't be bringing back who isn't happy about being there. Seems to me the smart thing to do is trade him now if you can get some value for him. But again, that's contingent on the Moss/Belichick report being true. Given the source of the report, it sounds legit to me.

You may be right about Tate not being a true #1, but Moss was not getting a ton of targets because he was commanding 2x coverage wherever he is or a safety shading to his side in a lot of cases to take away the PATS vertical game. Tate doesn't.

It's the perfect card for Childress to play because it's so believable.

If we get Moss, the Pack should just trade us Finley. We will give you...Berrian...and Childress.

Latest from Shefter, also taking into account the extra day the Vikings have to prepare this week:

Adam_Schefter

Pats on bye week, Vikes install gameplan Thursday. Leaves Wednesday as a real window to get deal done this week.

Multiple people believe a Moss-to-Minnesota deal is moving closer to happening, but no trade expected to go down tonight. Weds is target.

It's disgusting how the "sports news" channels get to play the game like this. Nobody seems to know anything and lots of bs just thrown out there. Nobodys names ever mentioned as the source. That being said I just changed the channel to ESPN so it worked. :lmao:

Jay_Glazer

Now another source close to the situation says he thinks talks will heat up again in a.m. and are still moving in the right direction
