DONE DEAL: Randy Moss to Vikings trade (1 Viewer)

Another report via Twitter (which is kicking serious a** tonight by the way) refuting the report that Moss and Belichick had an incident today:

RapSheet

Interesting to note: I'm told by someone who would know that Belichick has not spoken or seen Randy Moss today

Here we go:

RapSheet

BREAKING: A source close to the situation believes not only the Randy Moss trade will get done, but also it likely gets done tomorrow

Jay_Glazer Now another source close to the situation says he thinks talks will heat up again in a.m. and are still moving in the right direction
Nice shark move on that post. Was ready to post the same and said wooooop's. Glad I don't play in your leagues. lol.
I have Favre, Moss and Harvin. This could be gigantic for me if it happens. I may not sleep tonight.
I hear that. Deep dynasty league I have Tate on taxi squad, ADP and starting Favre this week with Brady on bye.

With the possibility of not having a 2011 season due to the labor situation, this could be Favre and Moss's last chance at a ring.

With Moss likely going back to Minnesota. My waiver wire claim for Sidney Rice for Vincent Jackson will be removed. There's something behind the scenes in New England that I'm sensing. Why get rid of your best WR unless you have a back up plan to get younger. If New England takes the 3rd and packages it up with a case of beer and pulls in Vincent Jackson then that's a heist. If not Brady's value and the Patriot's playoff chances are taking a huge hit.

Makes no sense. Like I said earlier, why would they get rid of one disgruntled WR only to bring in another one?

Makes some sense because Jackson is much younger. but I think if they go younger they will just plug Tate in and see what happens. if that doesn't work so well they can always address it in the off season with the extra picks/free agency.

The full Glazer tweet says:Yes, vikes and pats have been working on trade that sends randy moss to vikes and r very clode but can't be done until vikes and moss work out new contract, whcih they r working on.
Thank you for the insider info, David. It's appreciated.

Schefters tweet about 5 mins ago

Two well-placed NFL sources predicting tonight that the Randy Moss-to-Minnesota trade will be consummated Wednesday.

The Boston Herald confirms that "things are moving quickly" on the Randy Moss-to-Minnesota front, with a league source with "intimate knowledge" of the talks fully expecting a deal to be finalized Wednesday.

Wow.. only 36% of their offensive sets have been 3-wr wide this year, didn't realize it was that low. If Moss goes I think wes welker becomes a legit WR1 in PPR leagues and aaron hernandez becomes a top 5 TE. Edelman and Woodhead actually become playable in bigger PPR leagues..

There is no chance the Chargers trade Vincent Jackson to the Patriots. They already said that they wanted to send him to the NFC, not to mention the Pats wouldn't want to meet AJs demands.

Congratulations Vikings. I hope Favre and the Vikings can win it this year. Moss doesn't normally fumble inside the redzone, right?

Welker has never played on the Pats without Moss opposite him. I wouldn't say it's a given that his numbers improve since he'll have the opposing team's top corner on him now.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how this effects Welker...could be tough on him.

By the way, what's the history of guys playing 17 games?
I don't know if this has been answered yet but in case it hasn't....1993 Chris Singleton

1995 Dexter Carter

2004 Micah Ross

2004 Jerry Rice

2009 Will Witherspoon
Thanks. I believe Rice missed a few games due to injury that year though.
He might have been limited in a few but his NFL 2004 game log shows 6 games with Oakland and 11 with Seattle. There were 3 games he didn't start. He caught a pass in two of those and in the other (10/10) he got one target with 3:26 left in the game.http://www.nfl.com/players/jerryrice/gamelogs?id=RIC128880

This is a done deal. As a Moss owner, he just came off the bye week and won't have one now.

So how's Moss going to be ranked as a week 5 play @ NYJ on Monday night?!?!

I guess it depends how well Tate plays and what kind of coverage he will draw. I watched several games of his in person at UNC and dude can ball. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team's top CB split duty with him and welker. The bottom line is that welker is very tough to cover, especially on his quick in-routes. The more targets he gets, the more 1 point receptions he will rack up.

Unbelievable offense with Moss in Minnesota come playoff time.....

Favre at QB

ADP at RB

Moss and Rice on outside

Harvin in slot

Shiancoe at TE

if offensive line can hold up...

wow.

Upgrade for all Vikings skill players if this happens. Moss is a perfect fit for Favre and opens up everything for the rest of offense. With the way the D is playing this could be the year the Vikes get to the SB and actually win it.

Vikings have to make the playoffs first. They're 1-2 with a tough schedule ahead. Or did you mean fantasy football playoffs?

TY sharkpool! Waivers passed, at the 13th spot I am now a Brandon Tate owner. Dropped Demaryius Thomas for him. Good Luck all that put in a claim. Already have Hernandez.

I'll be so disappointed if Taylor Price takes over for Moss.

If this trade happens Harvin's matchup for this week just got a lot better. I don't think Harvin is capable of beating Revis but with Moss there Harvin should see a lot more space.

I expect Moss to have a chip on his shoulder the rest of the season, I always liked when he played with that type of angry.

They are 1-0 in the division, which is more than the Packers can say.

So Belichick gets Moss for a 4th, takes 3 years of stud production, and then ships him out for a 3rd once he starts #####ing about his contract.

:bag:

Price has not been making the game roster so far. I expect he will from now on, but I wouldn't worry about him threatening Tate for PT. That said, not sure I wouldn't rather have Thomas over Tate still.

:bag: Part of whatever went into deciding to trade Moss was that the Patriots have enough weapons to live without him. Moving him does not mean there's another hammer to drop with Vincent Jackson.

I see the big upgrade in NFL terms (assumming the Pats aren't on to something about Moss' ability decline that we arent'), but I don't se the plus so much in fantasy terms - except maybe for Favre. Granted Moss will require the best defender giving the other WRs lesser coverage, but he will eat up a LOT of balls as well. There will be more offenseive plays, and more pass plays, but not as many more as the number of passes that will go to Moss - which means less targets to go around for the other Viking receivers. And similarly, there will be more TDs scored, but Randy will score more than the total amount those wil increase, meaning less to go around to the other Viking players than if Moss hadn't srrived. I don't see the fantasy lovefest for other non-Favre Vikings.

I think it's a great move for NE to get rid of Moss as long as they get some value out of the trade. I think Moss has another year or two but if you can get some young talent in there, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I didn't like how Moss was talking about his contract right after the Week 1 win........that turned me off yet again. Get rid of him, get some young talent in there, some guys who will buy into the program.

If you are thinking that only now Welker becomes a legit #1 in PPR leagues, you have really missed the boat on him.Receptions2009 1202008 1122007 112

While I think on the surface losing Moss seems like it hurts them, I would not count out the fact that this team has won THREE suprebowls with legendary offensive players likeTroy BrownKevin FaulkAntoine SmithDavid Patten30 year old Corey DillonDeion BrachBen WatsonThe one consistand thing with those 3 teams has been Tom Brady and Belichick and a good D.Their D is not as good as the past I understand, but it has been improving.Losing Moss and not filling his spot with Vjax, doesn't mean they are "worst", just means their team is different.

Peterson will benefit from a deep threat and legitimate target in the passing game. I'm not sure there are any other relevant non-Favre players. You could say it hurts Shiancoe because he won't be the only receiving option in the red zone...but with all the attention on Moss, it might work out just fine.
