Donte Stallworthless? (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
There goes my value pick this year.

A blown hammy is going to take him down again.

News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that WR Donte Stallworth had an MRI on his strained hamstring which he aggravated Week 4 vs. Green Bay. Reid added that he wouldn't practice on Wednesday and was considered "day-to-day."

When practice resumes on Wednesday the Eagles will be without receiver Donté Stallworth (hamstring) and nickel cornerback Rod Hood (heel). It also appears unlikely that running back Brian Westbrook will participate.

.....

Stallworth Staying Positive

Monday was a frustrating night for Stallworth, who recorded just one catch and left the game after tweaking his hamstring, the same injury which sidelined the receiver for the 49ers game.

"You never can tell with a hamstring. You just have to be careful with it," Stallworth said following Monday night's game. "I'm feeling ok. I can't really elaborate on it too much. I'm just trying to stay positive."

Reid termed Stallworth as day-to-day.

Receiver Reggie Brown, who sprained the AC joint in his shoulder on a fourth-quarter catch, is also expected to practice.

This says it tall.

I've always liked Stallworth and wished him the best, but I'm glad that Colston emerged and allowed the Saints to part ways with him. He should call Isaac Bruce and see what he did to get this problem under control.

Always has had a history of Hamstring problems-I agree sounds very similar to the Issac Bruce Hammy problems of years back. It's a shame because Stallworth and Donovan were clicking and on the same page. If this is serious Mcnabbs numbers will suffer in the second half of the season when the Eagles schedule gets much tougher.

I should have known to stay away from this guy, i had him two years ago and back then he didnt do anything, and this year is no different. He gets injured again and will most likely be a game time decision every week. Another headache adding to my FF team.

I believe all Bruce did was not play on it for a year and a half. Nursed it back to full health. I could be wrong.
I heard Bruce used some kind of Phys Ther guru to get his hammy problem under control... I could be full of it. Will look it up and post more.

The change to a proactive rather than a reactive system for dealing with injuries is evident in successful sports franchises. The St. Louis Rams were the eighth-most injured team in the NFL in 1998 and finished the season 4-12. During their 13-3 championship season in 1999, they were the second-least injured team the league. In particular, the Rams took special care of Isaac Bruce before last year's Super Bowl season to prevent another hamstring injury to their top wide receiver. In Bruce's first two seasons as a full-time starter, he amassed 3,119 receiving yards, but over the next two seasons, he missed 13 games. During training camp before the 1999 season, Bruce was held out of more rigorous drills and told to run others at three-quarter speed. He played all 16 games last season and returned to his all-star form.http://healthresources.caremark.com/topic/proathletes

Apparently they just started treating him better. Go figure.

Hamstrings seem like they are all about training. I seem to recall Fred Taylor having hammy problems and then reading about how he'd changed his training regimen to beat that problem. [insert joke here of course]

If you drafted Stallworth, you probably drafted him as a #4 WR, whether or not you drafted him before he was traded to Philly. For the games that he plays, he should be a great plug in. Otherwise, you're getting good value out of him, even if he only plays 8 games.

Yep he's done.To think I offered Steve Smith for him after week 2 :D
I did the same thing and thankfully retracted the offer when the other owner waivered on it. I'm not sure how much this slows McNabb down - Stallworth (and Westbrook, for that matter) was not a factor in the 2nd half against GB, and look what happened there (yes, I know it was GB...). I think the match-ups are tougher, but Stallworth doesn't make a significant difference here.

True for the most part. But pretty much a killer if you start him and he goes less than one quarter of play with one catch.

Reggie Brown is not gonna be available in most leagues, but what about Greg Lewis? Does this guy now have value? He scored 2 TD and all but that was against the GB nickleback Carroll who was cut the day after...If Westy is out and Stallworth out...those passes have to go to someone and they can't all go to LJ Smith...and he doesn't exactly stay injury free either.

He's one of those gifts from the Fantasy Gods. Guy about equalled his output for 3 seasons in two games.

See Jose Reyes on the Mets. Had recurring hammy problems early on but has stayed healthy and led the league in SB's 2 straight years following an off-season "preventative rehab" program that he continues with to this day.

At this point I don't think you can consistently rely on any PHI WR. A different one has had the big game each week.

This guy has a very long history of being "digital"; producing great numbers or "zero". Most of the time the "zero" has been related to injury but not all of the time ...

Philadelphia looked like they got the steal of the year with this trade. New Orleans is ahead by far!
