I so agree with you here. Don't blame Newton for playing on an Auburn team that is trying to exploit his athleticism as quickly as possible to win the BCS. College football's function isn't to prepare players for the NFL - it's to win.Wow lots of people hating on Newton for a perceived lack of intelligence. Did anyone actually watch the whole segment with Gruden?

In the full segment, Cam diagrams a couple of plays and a couple of things were clear to me: (a) he’s a freak athlete, (b) he actually internalized his coaching quite well, as he remembered all the coaching points and axioms from Malzahn (and Gruden said he retained everything in their meeting quite well), and © he really does have a long way to go in terms of mastering a complicated NFL system.
David...not as awesome as Dan LeFevour to Green (invoking my Big Mex)Jordan Palmer to AJ Green....awesome
It may also mean that Fox absolutely hated the tape on Robert Ayers. For the Giants 4-3 I've been reading arguments that LB's aren't that important, the line is where you need the studs. If Fox's 4-3 is like the Giant's, maybe the argument is to take Dline instead of the LB.
It's not a lack of ability to learn - it is a lack of intelligence. He should know more "football" than it appears that he did. Not saying he isn't a smart kid or able to learn - more it is a statement that he doesn't know as much as he should at this point of his football career. That can only hurt him as it will take him much longer to develop.Wow lots of people hating on Newton for a perceived lack of intelligence. Did anyone actually watch the whole segment with Gruden?

With Peterson gone, Harbaugh should be tempted to take Gabbert. If SF goes Amukamara or Quinn or ??? will be interesting to see if Gabbert goes to TEN or WAS... MIN fans should start getting excited if SF passes on Gabbert.I think Gabbert falls to at least 7 if he doesn't go here.
He's going to get even better facing Fitzgerald on regular basis in practice.Maybe Im over analyzing it but Peterson looks less than thrilled to go to Arizona
(Looking skyward) Please may Tennessee take Gabbert! With Peterson gone, Harbaugh should be tempted to take Gabbert. Bump TE Jermaine GreshamJordan Palmer to AJ Green....awesome
Was it me or did Green look a bit unhappy that Cinci took him??Well Carson, AJ Green should make you think twice about retiring... only way I end up putting Jones ahead of him is if St. Louis ends up taking Julio.
Has to be. Their entire draft was worth less than this pick.Atlanta trades up for Jones! Matt Ryan owners do a dance. Wonder if they gave up 2012 first?
There ya go. This is great for Atlanta, because this puts this offense over the top and changes the dynamic of the offensive over time while still getting to transition Green with Gonzalez still serviceable and White in his prime. This takes pressure off the constant double teams on White and Atlanta is very predictable offensively. I do agree with Gruden here. When Jones sees contact coming in his direction he loses concentration. Still, if he shores this up the promise is an over the top transition for the offense.Atlanta trades up for Jones!
