Draft Chat With our Draftniks Matt Waldman and Sigmund Bloom Tonight D (1 Viewer)

Irony of all ironies...Well, I'm an official Jake Locker fan now. Wish they took Gabbert, but Locker is a guy I've been saying in Twitter forever is the most intriguing guy in this draft. I hope he transitions to his potential...Love Gruden telling Kiper to stick it!
Dave Razzano - former Cards, Rams, and Niners scout and son of big-time scout Tony Razzano loves Locker. He's the same guy that said Alex Smith wasn't better than Jeff Smoker when Smoker was the third QB in St. Louis and the Rams GM supposedly wanted Razzano to change his grade on Smith. The story I read by Michael Silver on Yahoo! was that according to Razzano, he watched 7 games of Smith and the rest of the scouts didn't watch anything of a highlight tape that the GM put together of 30 throws, which Smith completed all of them. The GM told Razzano not to be stubborn and the scout went off and got fired. It's gonna be interesting. Tough guy QB who can run and has some burgeoning throwing skills = Steve McNair?

Sheesh a lot of overreacting here. 1.27 is really a second this year, weak first round class. next year's first will be late. the 2nd and both 4ths are late. Atlanta got one of the guys they felt would put them over the top and might not have given up one first-round level player to do it.
I'm not poo-pooing the trade becuz of the draft value chart, IMO Atl just mortgaged their future when they really needed to reload at a lot positions. Julio puts them over the top on offense, but their RB is old and more importantly their defense will be threadbare after '11. They have a lot of guys that will be FA's next year.

Locker is exactly the kind of QB a team talks themselves into loving. Everything is perfect right until he releases the football and he is 100% dedicated to the game...
lol. That's scary.
It's very scary for the reason Bloom mentioned. This is why I was praying for Gabbert if Tennessee took a QB. Agree w/Dodds that Fairley was safer pick here. Kiper saying Gabbert wasn't mobile on film? Are you KIDDING ME!!!! I wish I could fine him some of his million-dollar salary every time he reveals that he didn't watch enough tape of a player. Sorry...but Gabbert not mobile? Waiting for Gruden to ask Kiper if the fumes from his hair product has gotten Kiper stoned.

Rumors coming from Cleveland radio that they are in-play to move back higher into the first round.

Cleveland has enough ammo to move back up but it remains to be seen whether or not someone they like will drop or they will get a dance partner.

FWIW The Falcons haven't moved up since they gave Baltimore what turned into the fifth round the following year so Atlanta could take TE Reggie Kelly.

The Ravens ended up taking future Hall of Fame OT Jonathan Ogden.

Hmm, if Fairley is on the board for Detroit's pick and the Lions want to trade down that could get interesting for the Brownies

After Washington, Houston is going to get its pick of nice 3-4 end prospects to aid its transition. Cameron Jordan or JJ Watt, assuming Washington doesn't grab one to play LDE, would be a nice add.

Agreed - wasn't Gabbert's 40 time pretty darn good?TEN is going to stretch the field with Britt, run Cook underneath and use some screens to CJ2K. Almost all of that works great with a mobile QB who can roll out and throw it to an area, minimizing accuracy issues. Not saying it isn't a flaw - it most certainly is - but if you have good receivers with huge catch radii, you can mask it well.

will be plenty of UDFA's RB's to grab that could contribute this year

Cowboys needed OL help badly. Likely safe pick here. I agree with Gruden though that I would be a little concerned that this guy was a RT at USC.

Quinn would be an interesting piece to add to the 3-4 OLB group with only Barwin as a reasonable edge rusher. Still think Cushing is a better fit at SOLB right now, but that's apparently not going to happen.

I like Locker...but I'm scared that we passed up a Matt Ryan for a Mark Brunell.

most mocks I've seen have them going CB.
Need there, too, if they don't think they can get one in the second or get Quin/Jackson coached up. I'm still partial to the defensive line -- planet theory and all -- if you're running the 3-4.

Kiper claims 4.6-40 didn't show up on the field. Kiper needs to watch Gabbert make great plays against two edge rushers at Nevada with NFL-speed. Then he needs to watch NFL quality prospects at DL go after Gabbert in the Illinois opener. That's the worst analysis I've seen Kiper make in a while. He looked like a mature McNabb or Favre on some of his throws versus Nevada and Roethlisberger scrambling around versus Illinois. Gabbert's appeal is his skill to move and throw with good fundamentals. Jax get Gabbert! LOVE this pick. He can sit behind Garrard for a bit if needed. Good for Sunshine...

Bizzaro World...Skins get MORE picks!

Gabbert would have been nice, but with so many needs to fill, nice move Skins.

I like the Locker pick to TEN. He reminds me of Mark Brunell, minus the left hand.
That's pretty gruesome.
Brunell was quite the player in the early going.
:whoosh:
Dude come on... Brunell went to the Pro Bowl three times in his first five years as a starter. Led the league in passing yards in 1996. Both are not afraid to run and can throw well on the run. Locker is two inches taller at 6'3, but he plays shorter in my opinion. I like the pick. I would think Locker would be honored to be compared to Mark Brunell.

Gabbert to JAX

Curious move for WAS. Maybe they were set to take ponder and decided to drop and add picks.

If Gabbert turns out to be better than Locker, Titan fans will get it rubbed in our faces for a long, long time.

You're missing the joke.
