I just drew the number 6 spot in my 12 team redraft league what are everyones feelings on drafting from the #6 spot. We go random every odd round so I pick 6th in the 1st rd. and 7th in the 2nd rd. Then I pick 7th in the 3rd how do you guys see this playing out. I figure at 6 I'm looking at Edge,Barber or Portis, now in my league there tends to be a run on wr's in the 3rd round so where would you go with the 2nd pick
we draft 2qb start 1 3rb start 2 4 wr start 3 2 te start 1
I've written a series of articles on this but they are not up on the site as of yet...I think the 6th slot is the least fortunate spot to start from this year... You are obviously starting way behind the owners fortunate enough to land a top-tier running back and the 4th and 5th slot owners are also ahead of the curve with the Barber/Portis beginning. To make matters worse the guys behind you will land a similar running back and get an earlier 2nd round pick than your squad.
There is a large group of running backs after those five who can be interchangeable depending on your own rankings. Some will have Rudi Johnson 6th, others will love St. Jackson, some will go Cadillac while others will select Ronnie Brown...
I would almost certainly go running back here as it is kind of early to look at another position but there is a possibility of selecting either Peyton Manning or Steve Smith to secure some extra points at a position that the top owners won't have...
The only silver lining here in going running back is that you do get the guy highest on your own cheat sheet.
No matter which direction you go, I would focus in on the owners drafting at the top of the board (1st through 5th) and try to make up ground on them throughout the draft. Those are the owners you need to catch up to and don't force yourself into any set strategy...
After round one, take the best value with each selection whether it is QB,RB,WR, or TE.
It really is a difficult spot to draft from this year but stay flexible, don't be pressured into following runs and you'll be fine by the end of your draft.
