[Dynasty] Todd Gurley (5 Viewers)

That's not how that works at all.

If a guy runs for 4ypc and has one broken tackle where he ran for 30 yards afterwards it doesn't mean that on average he's getting hit 26 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
You have to count all his other runs on his average yards after contact stat too. His average yards after contact in your example isn't 30. It's 30/(x + 1) assuming he gets tackled on first contact and all his other carries = x

You're right, I screwed that up.  Carry on  :bag:

Perfect cap to the evening.  Well placed pass gives him shot a big gain, maybe even a touchdown to salvage the night.  Instead, woefully underthrown and incomplete

He looks mentally defeated.
As are all Gurley owners.  I was forced to start him in dynasty as my FLEX and was concerned about it.  I mean could anyone imagine last season being worried about starting Gurley as your FLEX???

How do do the Rams fix this???

Gurley needs to get the #### out of dodge

Can't decide if he's the buy low of the lifetime in dynasty or move him now while his name still holds value...his performance on field this year sure doesn't hold much...

I thought for sure he could get at least 10 points in PPR. Just 10 points. Hardly asking for much. He looked really good in the first half. 47 yards rushing with a catch. Figured for sure the 10 points would be a lock.

Nope.

Negative yards rushing in the second half. He managed to lose points. That's pretty unbelievable. Then as pointed out the night ends with Keenum mucking it all up with an easy throw that should've been either a huge gain or possibly a TD but nope because Keenun's worthless he can't even complete a simple pass on a wide-open wheel route so Gurley owners can't even get some GTP. Just the way things go for Gurley owners in 2017.

I did think the continued desire to slam Gurley between-the-tackles when it clearly wasn't working in the second half was extremely intelligent playcalling by the Rams. Well done by Boras there. It was as if he was punishing Gurley for his comments after the Atlanta game and trying to get his head taken off because after the second time he lost about 5 yards any coordinator with an IQ above 10 would've tossed those plays in the toilet and never called them again.

And I know the first screen to Gurley didn't work but why do the Rams insist on never throwing any more to him? He's amazing in space (looked great in space last night) and Goff was struggling again last night. Why not give Goff some easy completions, help build his confidence and, most importantly, move the chains and get some first downs and keep your defense off the field? Why is this such a difficult season-long concept for the Rams to embrace? Even Colinsworth seemed to be trying to articulate it at the end of the game but Gurley should be getting 4-5 catches every single game, especially given how awful the running and passing games are.

Oh well, for those of us who started him all we can do is hope the rest of our lineup makes up for his lost point production. What a freaking disaster that was. And yeah, he absolutely looks defeated right now. Can't say I blame him either.

Get some olinemen that can run block

Improved O Line, MUCH improved play-calling and Goff really needs to learn the value of finding Gurley in the passing game. All of those are critical and in my opinion easy fixes. So much of this is not very difficult at all. A lot of is basic professional football. That's the really sad thing. The Rams are just failing at football 101. They can't even master a simple screen pass and more importantly they won't even try. Maddening.

How is a team - an offensive line - so bad that a RB can lose yards in a half?
Especially after he was looking arguably the best he had looked the entire season? Gurley really was looking great in the first half. He had some really nice runs. His 22-yarder in the second quarter looked straight out of last season. Great cut and burst down the sideline. He had one in the first quarter where he just powered through the line. Other than the failed fourth-down call, he was looking terrific in the first half last night. I can't believe what happened in the second half.

The biggest risk is gone.  I was really worried Fisher would get another couple of years so now that that's out of the way there's hope.  A year too late for Gase or Koetter or Hue so that's too bad, but there are names out there like Sean McVay, Kurt Schottenheimer, or Jim Bob Cooter that could get the most out of the O.  More than anything else they need an Oline coach to have an impact.  It looks like some talent is there but the blocking assignments are crap.

There is no magic fix.  Hiring an offensive-minded head coach will help, but they still need to get better lineman, otherwise he won't have anywhere to run next year either.

Have Tom Cable or Mike Tice had much success as offensive coordinators? Both have HC experience but I think would be more valuable as Oline coach or as OC, possibly due to their Oline success

A lot of you mother ####ers owe me an apologize for hating on me when I pointed out he was big play dependent last year and we should all pump the breaks a touch.

Is there a similar modern day story of a talent like this who is being so restricted by coach/scheme/QB/o-line? I'm struggling to think of one.

Wow. Okay. I wasn't one of them but you clearly were correct. And also... maybe try decaf???  'Cause you got some anger dude.

Nah. I curse like a sailor. No anger. Just funny that I was berated for pages in here for just suggesting we cool our enthusiasm since all his points were coming off breaking a big run and no consistency.

Anywho, Rams look like a dumpster fire. No first round pick is going to make it even harder to build that line.

That is a great point. No first rounder means no great rookie o-lineman is on the way to help...

I wouldn't say he is big play dependent. He is game flow/involvement dependent. They rarely throw him the ball and there have been many instances where Cunningham came in for Gurley. Gurley should only leave the field when he is heaving. Plain and simple. He has been misused and I am glad Fisher is gone. Were you right in saying pump the brakes? Hell yeah. Good call. But it is not because of his dependency on big plays. It is because the plays being called sucked. Would anyone in here move him for the 1.02? Or do you believe enough to pass?

Well, I went all-in on him yesterday, trading for him in a league that highly values RBs (start 2-4), so I really hope they make the right HC hire.

Interesting. I kind of think Payton without a future HOF, historically accurate QB would be a disaster.
Sean Payton's history of RBBC makes him about the last guy I would want in charge of the team as a Gurley owner.

The Rams are the worst offense in the league, so any coach should be able to improve the team on that side of the ball. Jeff Fisher and the Rams were trying to copy Bill Musgraves Vikings offense adapted to Christian Ponder which was not good.

Sean Payton would lead to more of a passing offense I think and I could see Gurley shine as the main playmaker for it. At the same time it could be really frustrating to see other RB being worked into the offense, which is how Payton has always seemed to do things.

Maybe Gurley is good enough, and the other talent around him poor enough, that Payton would use him more than he has Ingram and it could turn into a positive thing. Or Payton might decide some free agent RB is useful and split snaps between Gurley and some other less talented guys.

Gurley needs **** Vermiel.

Payton would likely be good for the Rams but I dunno about good for Gurley.

Keeper league I Traded for Gurley straight up with Hopkins at the start of the season.  Still feel good about it long term.

Probably the best result for Gurley fans with McVay.  He did a great job in Washington and if he can get Goff even up to Cousins' level and the OL to perform like WAS OL was Gurley should have a lot more space to run.

Also he was originally hired by Redskins and served a few years under Shanahan. Not sure how much of his offensive philosophy was honed during his time with Shanahan but not many coaches I trust more to get RB production than Shanahan so hopefully he picked up some knowledge in their time together.

Regardless... New HC McVay is far better than previous coaching for wasting away Gurley and other players' talents with "middle-school" offense.

Completely disagree. I'm a Redskins fan. We had. Terrific bike run/pass ratio and were terrible in the red zone. The better OL play is all on Callahan. Not Mcvay. I'm rooting for the guy and for Gurley. They may well both do great, but there is no sign of that based on his tenure as on offensive coordinator.

Fingers crossed he brings Callahan in with him

callahan built the foundation of the Dallas line too right? Has HC experience as well
