Dynasty Value Discussion Thread (10 Viewers)

Anyone do any 2 for one TE deals lately? I am trying to make roster space & would like to move some TEs. We start 1 TE (And also 2 flex, but doubt my TEs would start over WRs & RBs on my roster) so trying to get a better backup TE to Andrews. Players I wish to move are Ebron, Herndon & Gesicki. Any ideas on what sort of TE upgrade I could get for 2 of them? I would like to get Goedert, but the Ertz owner owns him...
Both of the bolded guys could be on the verge of breaking out and being better backups then the guy you "upgrade" to so be careful.

I was going to post the same thing.  I think you have two great back up options to Andrews already on your roster.  I wouldn't think moving two of these for any one TE would get you any improvement.

What is Arcega-Whiteside's value these days?

Or is he a hold?
Definitely a hold and hope. CBS has a trade chart that puts his value in the neighborhood of Manny Sanders and Dawson Know but I doubt you could get either of those guys for him.

FSharks puts him more in the range of Brandon Lafell and Kelvin Benjamin. Lolwut?

I agree that if you own him he’s probably a hold but with this WR rookie class looking so talented, I believe his value will tank even further after Free Agency and the draft.  Does anyone believe the Eagles will not go after FA or rookie WR talent before the start of the season?

The free agent WR they are linked to the most, Robbie Anderson, would theoretically help JJAW since he’s a field stretcher that would help open things up for underneath routes. Of course it’s possible the Eagles sign Anderson and draft a WR but they will lose Agholor and perhaps Jeffery so in a pass first offense there will be targets to go around.

It surely is a possibility that his value tanks ever further but it’s sunk so low now that selling before it drops even further isn’t likely to help your team any. it’s worth the risk of his value going from fourth round pick to waiver wire candidate for a chance that he lives up to his draft hype and produces in 2020.

I’d say buy simply because he’s cheap. Yes the eagles will add at least one wr. Yes, his value still has room to fall, but right now he’s listed as a starter with deonte Burnett opposite and agholor a free agent. He seems in a good spot to get targets by default if not because he is talented and just struggled last year. Everyone thinks they will pick a multiple year fantasy starter in round three this year. Seems like the patient investor might prevail here.

Ugh, let's talk about how Hopkins' fantasy value has tanked now & projections for the season...

Also, I guess Duke Johnson has zero value now
Why would Hopkins' value tank?  He is now on a team with a young stud QB in an offense that wants to throw a ton...as long as Murray continues on the path he is on Hopkins should remain at the level he is currently at...as for Duke, his value definitely takes a hit for obvious reasons.

It won't go up and if Murray busts it could tank. A lot of risk, no reward.
Yeah, I agree. He's going from a young stud QB that we can be reasonably certain is not a bust after 3 years of data. Kyler is a question mark and may or may not bust still (and 2nd year QB's are often very overrated, just look at all the folks slobbering over Baker this time last year for one example.) Gimmick offense/ inexperienced head coach that may or may not flame out, more competition for touches. I think his value drops down a few notches easily due to uncertainty and then it comes down to how you feel about Arizona to adjust his ranking again. But his value doesn't tank like one poster said until we see results on the field.

However, we only have to look at OBJ from this past year to have an almost exact comparison and situation where this didn't work out how many people thought it would.

How about a value comparison of Lidsay & Carson? Pretty closely rated. Seems Carson would have more possible competition. Same age, similar usage last couple years.

Price check on Tyler Higbee?

In my (non-TE premium) league, I've gotten a few offers from the same owner for Higbee. Best offer has been 3.06. I countered with 2.05, and was rejected. Same owner also holds 2.08 and 3.01. I think I'd part with Higbee for 2.08, but not 3.01. What do you guys think?

I think he is a hold if at all possible at those prices.

I'd decline any 2nd round pick personally. (EDIT: If I really liked a guy early 2nd, sure perhaps I'd pull the trigger)

I think the Rams made their pick early last year by signing Higbee long term. Don't think they'll be able to afford Everett with their cap situation. (They've still got to find a way to lock up Jalen Ramsey I believe)

I could easily see Higbee as upper half TE1 for awhile. Maybe a discounted version of Ertz.

Since we are on TEs:

I can keep none or all 3 of the following TEs as part of my 15 player keeper league with rosters of 27 after keepers declared and the draft. What are your Dynasty thoughts?:

* Gieski

* Hurst ( now Atlanta’s #1 TE)

* Jarwin (now Dallas’s #1 TE)

Same, very curious. He is amazingly still 26. Soon to be 27 but still. He’s been on a team on mine for 6 years already.
Wow. You held through the early years, and then held when he started producing? You're an insanely patient owner. I can probably count on one or two fingers the number of players I've held that long in any of my leagues over more than a decade of dynasty

Thoughts on Chase Edmunds?  No more DJ, Drake on a 1 year tender that could still be pried away from the Cardinals.  Do people universally prefer Drake or is there enough people out there that think it's a close call?

Just a natural progression of things.

When you commit to a rookie TE, and I took him 7.1 in the startup, you got to commit to throwing away year one. But I need to see growth in year two. He did that. So keeping him year 3 was easy. He catches 61 for 711 in year 3 so he's a keeper for year 4. Year 4 he gets off to a stinky injury riddled start, in second half of the year is essentially turned into a part time TE playing about 30 snaps a game but during that time frame from end of trade deadline to end of season he was a top 5 TE. Lions don't pick up option. I was encouraged by how he finished the year but was not a lock keeper until I saw were he landed. He lands with Andrew Luck so he for sure gets year 5. He's awesome in year 5 so for sure he gets year 6. He stunk last year, but now I'm back to about where I was with him when Lions did not pick up his option. I lean on keeping him, but need to be sure where he lands first.

Also this is FFPC with short rosters and I once held Josh Gordon for almost 7 years in another league. Ended up cutting him late last year but I don't go into those details.

I'm wondering more what this does for Drake. The transition tag will not be met with kindly from his camp.

I think Drake is the man and Chase is the backup. I’d be very surprised if Drake isn’t the starter in AZ all year, barring injury.

The draft may change this but right now I think you could make a case that Chase is the most valuable handcuff in fantasy football. It's possible he carves out a usable PPR fantasy role, I'm not sure about that, but when looking at how good this offense might be and Drake never having carried a major load for long I think if you set your expectations as a game changing type handcuff you'll be on the right path more then any hope he'd be a guy you can rely on unless Drake goes down.

Where do people put Hopkins? Hopkins for AJB + D Henderson?
Dynasty calc has wild advantage for Hopkins. I take a different view. You know I'm new to this, but I like the AJB and D. Henderson side, actually. I think Gurley is done as a Ram. That's pure, pure speculation and nothing you can't get from beat writers, but that's my thought.

AJB finished the season absolutely on fire. He was the #2 WR weeks 12-16.
If using fantasy weeks yes. But week 17 and the playoffs games all were meaningful games for him and in those 5 games he had one catch in 3 games and only broke double digits in one of them. It's possible he hit a rookie wall. It's more likely just a result of Tannehill not needing to air it out much but that's a problem that might continue to rear it's head. Just commenting because I do like to look how players with limited sample size finish,  and both of our sample sizes are small, but depending on what you consider to be his finish to the season we are reaching different outcomes.

I'm not sure what to make of that trade. I can just say that I don't value Hopkins any more or any less after the trade but I think people are jacked up about it and not sure this would be my exit right now but that's not a strong opinion.

I would need a decent amount more if I was giving up Hopkins...just too much room for error here when you are giving up a legit #1 WR...Brown looks like the real deal but I am not too comfortable replacing Hopkins fantasy-wise with a Titan WR....even though he was on a tear at the end of the year I am still not convinced with that situation and whether you can trust it on a weekly basis (as far as Brown becoming a legit #1)...as for Henderson he is way too much of a wildcard to be a main piece of a Hopkins deal...if you make this deal and they draft a Dobbins in the second round or sign someone like a Gordon to a prove it deal then you are screwed big time...I can understand wanting to add Henderson if you like him but not with this deal...I get wanting to get ahead of the curve if you feel he is gonna blow up this year but the guy had 147 yards rushing (3.8 YPC), 4 receptions for 37 yards and 0 TDs...when you are talking about dealing a stud like Hopkins I need to see a lot more.
