Ear has been ringing for 3 weeks (1 Viewer)

Figured with the advent of the walkman everyone has this nowadays.
I listen to metal every day at least an hour for over 20 years with the headphone volume on max and my hearing is still perfect somehow

this didn't hit me until after I turned 40
30

And ive spent a lot of time in studios playing with metal bands with no earplugs
you're ####ed.

but enjoy not being old while you can.

I sang in a metal band for about 10 years and spent most of my time in clubs during those years. Never wore earplugs even though our drummer's mom kept warning us about it.

Got tinnitus around 40, maybe a little before.

Doesn't necessarily mean that's why I got it though. I still think it has to do with constriction of the blood vessels in your ear or something like that.

Sure didn't help though.

Nope. Most likely the noise of the band, etc. From today's news feed: Hearing loss.

That's hearing damage. I had mine tested and it's fine. No hearing damage. I'm sure there are plenty of cases where hearing damage=tinnitus but there are studies that show a variety of reasons for tinnitus.

Like I said, I'm sure it didn't help though.

I'm almost 43, have been to over 1,000 metal shows, played for years in multiple punk, hard-core, and metal bands, and never listen to music below full volume. My ears are fine. Roll of the dice, man.

Maybe some people just lose their hearing from poor genes

Mine has been ringing (more a buzzing noise) for over a week. Not a big concert go-er, no loud noises, head trauma, but my wife claims I am losing my hearing (I just turned 50). I had sinus surgery last year, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. Well went to the doctor, and he says ear/nose look fine for the most part and sent me over to audiology. Of course, they said I had hearing loss, doc supposed to call me today.

Sounds like I may be a member of the club now. Mine seems to be a manageable buzzing noise, but sometimes gets high pitched. I can sleep no problem, and when I wake up its actually not too bad, I can barely hear it, but once I get up its buzzing pretty good.

Sounds like I'll get used to it. I kinda freaked out at first about it a few days ago reading the horror stories on the internet. I quit reading those, and feel much better now.

I still hope it may go away, or lessen, but I'm not counting on it, if its from hearing loss.
