"Chiefs coach Herm Edwards has already made his mind up about one thing. Trent Green will be the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in 2007. “Why wouldn’t he be?” Edwards asked Tuesday. “I don’t think we need to get in a panic after one season of a guy basically being knocked out for half of the year and then having to come back and play. … Yeah, he doesn’t have the stats he had last year. Well, how can he? He missed a lot of games.”

Huard is a free agent and will look for the payday after playing well in relief of Green earlier this season. The Chiefs have not gotten to see much of Croyle as he has only played in two games this year. I see Green stating the season and Croyle finishing it for KC.

Good find, Jeter. But, there are a few things working against him. He will be 37 years old in July. Plus, Gonzo will be a FA this offseason and may test the market. A KC offense with no Gonzo, an aging Kennison, and Herm as head coach does not seem that attractive for the 37 year old Green.

I agree and I was surprised to see those comments from Herm. Green is an easy choice to be next year's Warner or Bledsoe. So KC has and old starting QB, an unproven backup, an aging WR1, an aging OLine, a stud TE that could leave (I hard Green Bay as a possible destination), and Herm as coach. Sounds like a very long year for the Chiefs next year.

Who would be the QB for the Chiefs after Green gets injured again? The O line is aging and the talent is not as good as in years past.Croyle or the guy from the CFL are not ready to step in. The Chiefs don't draft QB's, they trade for a back up from another team. Schaub? Kitna?

I hear they really like Croyle and have not heard much Printers hype in a long while

Despite what Edwards says, I think they resign Huard and it's a QB competition this summer. It would be a stupid move not to based on how Green has looked this year.

Kevin, as a Jets fan I've tried my hardest to bite my tongue on Herm but, any conclusions yet by KC fans..... You LOVE him?My opinion was that KC brass thought they had somewhat of a shot to "Go for it" this year still and Herm was one of the only Puppets out there that you could plug in without a New HC wanting his own systems and to change things up too much. If it's rebuilding time, I';m not sure if Herm is the type of guy to build anything. Great guy though.

Warner and Bledsoe at least had Weapons around them to make them seem attractive, and they had coaches who either love to throw (Warner) or at least don't shy away from it (Bledsoe). With the run-first, -second, and -third mentality, and lack of quality targets, Brunell or, now that I think about it, Brad Johnson might be the better comparison, especially if Gonzo leaves. Just good enough to keep his job most of the year. Just bad enough to kill his team and your fantasy team too.

:wall: 2-14? Mmmmaybe. But I have them going 7-9. Now in 2008...it'll get reaaaal ugly!I think it is sooooo ignorant for Herm to come out and say Green is the guy next year. He's already showing signs of deterioration and getting a year older certainly won't help. Green never was a Favre. It doesn't matter who they put back there as QB, if they don't seriously upgrade that O-line they are gonna have problems staying upright. I actually thought they should talk Green into retiring, resign Huard (if reasonable) and let Croyle work into the mix some and bring in a FA QB to compete. Pick up a FA lineman and address O-line and WR in the draft and add decent depth with the second day picks. But hey...if I knew what I was talking about, I WOULD BE HC OF THE CHIEFS...obviously I'm not. But I could be head coach of the Raiders next year! I hear they'll end up having tryouts. :hot:
