Electronic Cigarettes (4 Viewers)

The biggest, and maybe toughest, change for me with vaping is the struggle to get rid of the shame of smoking. I still feel like I need to hide the darned thing most of the time. As I mentioned way earlier in the thread, when I started, the biggest help it's been to me is the ability to use the thing around my wife, because I don't feel bad about it around her anymore. It's pretty freeing.
I get this. Because I still feel like I'm hiding it around her. Not hiding in the sense she doesn't know, but taking drags when she has her back turned. Just because I feel dirty when she sees me do it. Wait. We're still talking about vaping right?

Have a conversation with her about it. See how she feels about it. If she's legitimately cool with it, stop hiding it. In fact, she may even find some 0-nicotine versions she likes, and join you occasionally when drinking or after dinner. Some of the stuff tastes really good.

Umm... yes. Vaping.

I just recently took the plunge into these things and am still new. But had some questions. Do you guys use these in your car or houses? Or should I be stepping outside like I do with a normal cigarette?
I do. Inside my office, too.
I'd love to use it in my office. I have to still walk out to the smoking section just to take two puffs.
Are you in a cubicle, or do you have a door?
Cubicle. Current company only has offices for executives.
Still don't see a reason to walk away, unless you are using some modded out smoke machine. Just be a little stealthy, and you should have no problem. Like I said, I vape in class in the middle of lectures, and haven't been busted yet. 99% of the time, the person next to me doesn't even know.

I was out on the golf course Sunday and I took a quick puff and my buddy said, "Does anyone smell that pipe smell?" I can't imagine no one would be able to smell the smoke. Or whatever it's called.

When I was vaping I wasn't using a tobacco flavor, preferring coffees and caramels primarily. Caught myself hitting on it a few times even in the elevators while talking with supervisors and after the first glance nobody objected at all. I suppose that it smelled so much better than when I was coming in after smoking that they were all more supportive.

I have a Halo G6.

Another question: So I use the one that looks like a cigarette, not the one that looks like the hookah. How do you know when the liquid is done? Will the vapor stop showing up or will it be out before than? I have no idea how long each one lasts or when I should refill it.

It's tough with that type. Basically, when it tastes like burnt ####, you're done.

You'll learn thru trial and error. Check it often, cause once it's burnt, the cartomizer is dead.

Gotcha. I find they smell more like tobacco or burning stuff than, for instance, the Kanger Evod that I use. My managing partner today asked me why my office smells like chicken teryaki, and I use a tobacco flavor.

Interesting. Is this something that I should be refilling it each night, then?

If you don't vape enough to need to refill during the day, then that's probably not a bad idea.
Wow. Are you saying some people go through one of those cartomizers in less than a day???

I guess I'm not using it as much as other people. Probably a good thing.

I just bought 5 new cartomizers and 30ml of refill. This will be my first attempt at actually refilling these things. Originally I bought two packs of different flavors just to get an idea if I'd like it or not. In two weeks, I still have 3 of the 10 cartomizers left.

I go through about 10mL a week. Though I'm down to 6 mg of nicotine in that juice.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been vaping and what level of nicotine did you start at?

Also, did you do it to quit smoking? I actually hate smoking (except when I golf) but I enjoy taking breaks and going outside. I'm not sure how long I'll do vaping, but as of now it is a million times greater than smoking an actual cigarette.

Side note: I asked my doctor his thoughts and he said "Go for it." As long as I was not planning to do it forever. He said he had no problem with using it to quit smoking. But my Aunt and Uncle who are both doctors are vehemently against it.

March, 2013 I started vaping as an alternative to the cigarettes I'd been smoking for decades. I started at 18 mg and/or 24 mg depending on the day and quickly settled into 18 as my mg of choice. I've weaned down over the past six months or so to my current level.

The only major problem with going down from 6 to 0 is the lack of a throat hit - it doesn't feel like a cigarette anymore without any nicotine. If not for that, I'd be off the nicotine completely by now.

:help:

Well, I just moved to Argentina for a few years where e-cigs are banned. Great. Tried ordering about a year supply of stuff from Vapor Beast before leaving but had to cancel because it wouldn't have come in on time. Didn't even consider it might be banned until the morning I was leaving I did a search of where to find vaping products in Argentina. If I had just ordered a day earlier I'd be golden but now I'm screwed.

So without any other options, before leaving for the airport I had to buy a bunch of Blue carts at the local convenience store and hope they did the trick. God they suck. I can see why people who try these don't stick with ecigs. They are worse than the carts I got from v4l a few years ago when I first started vaping. They claim 250 drags. More like 75 before they are unusable. And they taste like crap to begin with. Trying too hard to emulate a real cig. And we all know there's no need for that.

I'm definitely not going to use real cigs as a replacement. Isn't it hilarious how real cigs are fine but ecigs are banned? Ugh.

I know a guy who makes his own juice from actual tobacco. He uses everclear and pipe tobacco in a crock pot, then strains the #### out of it. I bet you can get atomizers mailed to you by some company - it's not juice.

But I think Tecumseh is probably right. Way to go is probably to have someone ship you a care package with juice in it.

Maybe I'll try to get someone from my family to send some stuff down. From what I've heard it's a pain getting anything shipped to Argentina because they are so f'd up here. But I'll probably give it a shot.

Just ordered my first box mod (MVP 2) and need a good lesson on how to move to dripping.

Anyone have good instructions and/or a product list of what I need?

Rebuildable atomizer? There's no real tank (like an iclear/Protank) is there?

So many people are raving about Reo's Mods, feel like I need to hop on that.

I've been pretty exclusively vaping Nicoticket juices for the past few months, though I do have an order from of Castle Long Reserve from five pawns coming as well.

Most people who drip use mechs or higher wattage devices than the MVP, but you can certainly get started.

For an RDA I highly recommend a Magma. It's easy to build with a deep juice well so you don't have to continually drip into it. Many agree it provides the best flavor of any RDA. You can get an Infinite clone for about 15 bucks.

For an RBA, the Kayfun Lite Plus V2 from EHPro is the best quality for the best price--around 30 bucks.

Both of these require some Kanthal wire (26 or 28 gauge, get 100 feet of both, it's cheap), a 5/64 drill bit (this is what I use, you can use lots of things to wrap your coils on), organic cotton (couple bucks at CVS...boil it so it's super clean), nice set of tweezers to squeeze your coils, and a cheap mini blowtorch comes in handy but you can manage without.

Rip Trippers has some good microcoil tutorials...I use his first build in this video (very simple) for my Kayfuns https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=rip+tripper+chimney+coil

Cool, thanks for the information. I realize the MVP isn't the desired platform for rebuildables, but it's my first box mod (hell, my first one outside of VV batteries) and I wanted to start slow. I'm also just wondering if I could throw a good tank on it and be fine (is the new Nautilus still the best option out there? Currently use iclear 30s).

Part of my concern is at work I don't have time to be dripping every 10 minutes. I like/need the freedom to throw 3 mL of juice in a tank and not worry about it for the rest of the day. What juices are people into right now?

I think everybody should have an MVP, it's a good investment no matter how deep into vaping someone goes. I haven't tried the Nautilus but everyone raves about the BVC coils being as good as it gets for a non-rebuildable tank. Kayfuns also serve the need for 3-4 mls of juice with no worries. Most days I bring my MVP with a Kayfun on it to work because there's no hassle.

Hard to make juice recommendations without knowing what you're into. I've been on a max VG kick lately, hitting a lot of Velvet Cloud's stuff the last few weeks. Not overpowering flavor but really good. Coval Vapes has some nice tobaccos. Most of my favorites are middle-of-the-road in terms of price...I enjoy Five Pawns but for the price there's no way to justify relying on them. I've been looking for a low-cost option that doesn't taste like perfume so put in an order at ITCVapes, they've been getting some love on ECF, only $7.99 for 30ml. Hoping it's decent.

Where does everyone here shop for their liquids? Is there a go to place that you go online? Or do most go to a B&M store? Just trying to check out some new flavors.

I will pimp Nicoticket. Decent prices and great flavors, especially if you're using a good tank or coils. Their Oreo is great and H1N1 is my all day vape. I actually brought in six different flavors today to let a co-worker try. I loved Ahlusion's aromatic line for straight tobaccos, but they've pulled it from the website. I've got a bottle of Five Pawns Castle Long Reserve that I'm going to bust out for my draft, for $40 bucks, it better be orgasmic.

I buy 100mg nic base liters whenever I see them on sale (got one for 70% off 2 weeks ago.) Then, I go to different sites on occasion and look for FlavourArt flavoring sales. When I see them, I stock up on flavoring. Then, just buy standard food grade PG/VG whenever. Then, you can mix and match flavorings to create your own blends. As long as you don't get too ridiculous with the combinations, you can just about always come up with something eminently vapable, and sometimes you really create something great.

No, it's not quite as good as Boba's Bounty, but while BB runs you about $0.50-$0.60/ml, I've got the cost of my homemade stuff down to about $0.03/ml. Using the REO Grand with a sub-ohm kit and a rebuildable atty, my total vaping costs are insanely low. A few feet of Kanthal wire, a small bag of cotton and juice, that's it. I maybe spend $40 a year on vaping. I used to buy 3 cartons of smokes a month, which ran me $165, now I spend that much every Olympic cycle.

I wish someone online carried my flavor. There's a B&M place that makes the flavor I like in house. Way more expensive than it should be, though.

Go to the B&M to see what flavor profiles you like, then find a few on-line vendors with cheaper prices and order from them. I have left quite a few reviews in here about various vendors, a lot of good ones out there.

Not sure if there are any RY4 lovers in the house, but this is one of the best RY4s out there (I've tried over 50) and you can get a 30ML bottle shipped for $9 this weekend. I got two for $17, great deal.

I have a lot of juice now, but outside of my HHV orders which are never on sale, I almost exclusively hunt for deals. Over 10k cigarettes avoided as of this week!

Congrats man. Thinking about the total number of cigs avoided always cheers me up.

A shop selling higher end devices finally opened up near me. Not sure where to begin as my experience is only with the stuff @ gas stations & 7/11. Looks like they carry ego t and vapor 123 starter kits. Any idea which is better?

Besides starter kits and juice, anything else I'll need to buy? As time wears on, besides replacing the juice, what else will I need. Ideally, I'd like to set this up as a once a month stop to pick up supplies, what will I need?

TIA

I'm sure others can tell you better than I can, but I bought a starter kit and prefilled cartomizers to start. Once I figured out the flavor I liked, I bought a bottle of the juice. I eventually switched to mini-tanks and love them. Other than that, all I've bought was an extra charger since my cig seemed to be dying right at the end of the work day. So now I have a charger for work.

I guess I don't vape as much as everyone else, because I bought one bottle of 30ml liquid about a month ago and I'm about halfway through it. That bottle cost me $20. The savings over my 3 pack a week habit has been enormous so far.

Whatever kind of vaping equipment you buy, there will be something in it that wears out - cartomizers, atomizers, coils, wicks, whatever. Whatever that thing is for what you end up using, you'll need to replace it - but it is generally an inexpensive piece of the puzzle.

Edit: I use a Kanger EVOD2, and have no complaints at all. Most places seem to sell those.

How long do these various pieces last? A week? A month? Several months?

A shop selling higher end devices finally opened up near me. Not sure where to begin as my experience is only with the stuff @ gas stations & 7/11. Looks like they carry ego t and vapor 123 starter kits. Any idea which is better?

Besides starter kits and juice, anything else I'll need to buy? As time wears on, besides replacing the juice, what else will I need. Ideally, I'd like to set this up as a once a month stop to pick up supplies, what will I need?

TIA
Whatever kind of vaping equipment you buy, there will be something in it that wears out - cartomizers, atomizers, coils, wicks, whatever. Whatever that thing is for what you end up using, you'll need to replace it - but it is generally an inexpensive piece of the puzzle.

Depends on what piece we're talking about and how much you use it.

For me, I have to replace a coil that fits into the EVOD2 tank. That coil lasts anywhere from 6 days to a week and a half, depending on the type of juice I'm using and how much I use it (I use it a lot.) I know people who only change their coils every 3 weeks or even much longer. The coil costs about $2.

Yep. For me the coils last like 3-4 days because I'm using Boba's which is notorious for gunking your stuff. I just order a lot of coils and then you can find places that will give you a price break and get it to more like $1.40 or so.

I made a break through on my usage though recently...hopefully I'll be done with these within a month or so.

Last batch I ordered these new and improved coils for the EVOD2. Just grabbed a 5 pack to make sure I like them. Definitely liking them more, biggest difference is that there's actually no space between the "stem" of the atomizer and where it fits into the tank. I'd always get a couple of drops of juice that would come out the top when I'd refill, not experiencing that with these. So I lose less juice and it's better on the go. I need to get rid of my old coils now.

At my friendly local quickie-mart place that I stop at to buy general things the other day and though I haven't bought an e-cig in a long time the guy knows I used them so he gave me a new one they just got. Can't for the life of me remember the name but it was Z something. The butt end that you inhale from had an opening in the shape of a Z. Disposable and not cartridge, but the cig itself was soft to the touch like a real one and the inhalling portion was perfectly similar to a real cig. The draw was decent but not great and the taste was pretty standard fake tobacco unflavored and not great.

But I have to admit that the feel of the thing was pretty close to perfect. The only problem I had with the Blue e-cigs and it was pretty much for any and all of the others I tried was the metallic hardness of the cig itself. I may grab a couple of these Z things to keep instead of hitting a cigar on the golf course this weekend.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I am really digging some of these non tobacco flavored flavors. I have a bubblegum one I really like. I just ordered Swedish Fish, Toasted Marshmallow and Fruity Pebbles.

My go to flavor is still one that's caramel and vanilla with a hint of tobacco. But it's nice trying these other flavors. My least favorite part of smoking was the fact that it tasted like crap.

I think most people eventually diverge from the tobacco flavors. I haven't vaped one in a couple of years. My goto is chocolate mint from MadVapes.

I still use tobaccos on occasion. I loved the aromatics from Ahlusion, but they stopped selling on line (any Michigan peeps want to do me a favor)? Their non-Aromatics are good, but not great.

I've been on a Nicoticket fix lately. Virus, Raz Cup, Or3o, the list goes on. Pretty rough on coils though. I'm using iclear 30s on an itaste MVP currently (will make a slow transition to rebuildables at some point I guess) and change my coil close to twice a week.

My wife steals a hit now and then and is already on me to reorder Castle Long Reserve from Five Pawns. It's expensive as hell, but very good.

When I'm not using a straight tobacco, there's a tobacco based cherry rum I like. The sweet stuff is really popular here - maybe that's just the South?
