experiences with idiots (1 Viewer)

It's ironic that DSP starts a thread about experiences with idiots and quickly becomes the topic of conversation. Or is it foreshadowing?
Every thread I start turns in to this. If I started a thread about muffins it would turn in to this
When someone who is unemployed, brags about their 176 IQ, & currently living off the government starts a thread about "idiots", it doesn't take someone with an IQ of 176 to see where it will go. That is all for me in this one. GL with the muffin thread, I like banana crumb & choc chip.
I adressed some of these points earlier so this isnt entirely accurate.

I was never bragging about my IQ. Its actually a horrible thing to be that high. Id rather be average and have an easier life
Ok...I'll bite....why do you think your life would be easier with a lower IQ?
I don't belive his IQ is that high, but I will give one reason. Grady Towers writes about an optimal communication range being +/- 20% of your IQ. That is, you are most comfortable communicating with people who are within 20% of your IQ. At 176, there are precious few in your communication range--141+.

Grady purports that the optimal IQ is around 155 which gives a communication range of about 125-185.

Your doin it wrong. Also I would advise that the way you talk about other people says a lot more about you.
Talk about who? The guy in my OP?He was being obnoxious on a level ive never seen. Why shouldnt people day terrible thingd about him?
It's the way it is said that my point is made.
What is wrong about the things I said about him?

You cant get a sense of a persons intelligence just from the way they write. IQ does not measure things like that. It measures memory, spatial reasoning and creativity.

A person could be illiterate but still have a genius level IQ. You have no reason to believe I havent tested that high except it is extremely rare.

I certainly dont have anyone I feel comfortable communicating with. Thanks for the link its very interesting

If you're telling the truth, I am well within your communication range.

Based on your contributions here, I don't believe you.

Hey MC I think you are heading into one of your "The world is out to get me" phases (or whatever you want to call it). Try to recognize that fact and try to dial it back (I know, it's easier said than done). There is nothing good for you that will come out of this current path.

What would you consider a proper contribution from a person with that intelligence?

And I could be crazy too as spock pointed out

It seemed to me that people were just ramping up their attacks

You seem to think nothing about throwing out disparaging remarks about others (your ex-wife is a whore, your current girlfriend is emotionally needy, the guy blaring reggae music is an idiot, etc.) Yet you bristle when somebody makes similar comments about you. People that live in glass houses.... Maybe the guy blaring the reggae music while standing in line has some issues that make him unaware of the impact his actions have on others.

You make a good point but im pretty sure the guy was just a doosh

I am just as, if not more, emotionally needy as my girlfriend

My ex wife is a whore, that is a statement of fact and not an opinion

I started to read this thread last week and then stopped when I found out the OP was a grown man living in a halfway house. Now, unsurprisingly, I check the current page and people are debating his IQ....

Anyways, I think most of us here know that being 'smart' has nothing to do with how fast you can solve a complicated puzzle or crap like that. Just the fact that you are a grown man who lives in a place where you can't cook food, but somehow has all day to spend posting stuff on this board tells me all I need to know, and that is that you are dumber than a box of rocks.

Seriously dude, the mods should lock this up and make you change your name to MC Blockhead.

What kind of chick latches on to a guy living in a halfway house? Don't tell me you killed someone.

You're feeding the beast.

I have been a pretty solid defender of yours but you seem to have a "me vs the world" thought process when things aren't going your way and you don't handle it well. I agree with Northern Exposure that you don't take criticism nearly as well as you dish it out (glass houses and all that).

To be fair, monster.com, indeed.com, jobs.com, careerbuilder.com, and the online classifieds of the local newspapers have all been down all day today.

Classic example of a person speaking out of their ### on a subject they know nothing about

So I'm waiting on line at FedEx/Kinkos to send a package to my nephew living in Hawaii. the line takes forever, as the gum-smacking, long-nail clickety-clacking woman at the counter doesn't seem to be on her A-game. I finally get to the front and give her the package with my credit card in my hand waiting to get this done.

- sir... what country code is this?

- ummm... what?

- (annoyed eye-rolling gum-smacking) the country code. you didn't write down the country code.

- ummm... what?

- you didn't write the country code down on the packing slip.

- county code?

- COUNTRY CODE. WHAT IS THE COUNTRY CODE FOR HAWAII?

wait a sec... do I have the right thread?

Hint...that is criticizing that poster.

Plus, they bore him. And we'd hate to see "looking for a job" lead to drug use again.
