I'm ignoring that rule since it's unrealistic.

It's unrealistic that someone who's 400 pounds isn't going to hit the gym with enthusiasm?

It's unrealistic in that it has to ignore the many examples of people who have really done it.

Maybe ABC can make a new reallity show called The Biggest Flamer where 15 gay people live in solitude and drop the gay like butter melting from their bodies, and thousands of fans of the show can write in testifying that they did it too while watching from their homes.

If not, then obviously being fat has options for change in reality that being gay does not seem to have in reallity. Thus that rule for this poll is just unrealistic.

Most gay folks I know are very happy, up-beat, outgoing, comfortable in their own skin.

I don't know any 400 lbers, but my assumption is they tend to be miserable, shut-in, unhealthy, etc (santa and sumo wrestlers being the exceptions)

Gay is obvious. Average life with what seems very little real discrimination in the current world. Versus struggling to walk a half mile, probably not holding down a job and at best being attractive to a very small subset of people.

You must not pay much attention to the real world if that's what you think. In fact, think might be a strong word for you.

Maybe it's because I live in a large urban area. But I think there isn't a lot of major gay discrimination around here at least. Maybe if you're in certain parts of the country it's worse, but I think that's why gay people tend to move to certain cities.

The scenario is very simple. It doesn't have to be realistic. If you get right down to it magically being either 400 lbs or gay is more unrealistic for most of us than being unable to lose weight.

I'm not sure what the cutover point would be for me. At my current 5-11ish height i'd have to say somewhere in the 275-300 range would make me think. Fat guys have much smaller ####s too and they shrivel up earlier in life. It might even be as low as 250.
