I vote for Kroil. Watcha got?
If you don’t put on a captain’s hat, walk down the street, and whistle, you’re doing it wrong. But now and then, Old Spice under arm deodorant, for fun. Simply go from the arm pits to the neck area and you're set. Two seconds.
The switching works how? For chicks? With your body chemistry? Both?I switch between Nautica Voyage and Calvin Klien Chrome.
Both are great with my body chemistry.
This is my real answer. This is still a thing?
I think the dudes that bathe in the stuff give it a bad name. I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything. You either naturally smell better than I do, or don't mind smelling like a wookie. This is my real answer. This is still a thing?
Might be a cultural or geographic thing because no one I know, or am friends with, use it. I associate more with old men - much older than this old man.I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything.
Might be a combination of scented body wash, scented deodorant, and/or working in a profession where strong scents are discouraged by HR or the profession itself (healthcare and whatnot).I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything.
The cologne game is stong in WI, at least at our store. My son and his age group mostly, but all ages included.Might be a cultural or geographic thing because no one I know, or am friends with, use it. I get the work part, but tone in the thread from many is that cologne is gross and people don't wear it outside of work either. Many body washes are as potent and pungent as cologne too.Might be a combination of scented body wash, scented deodorant, and/or working in a profession where strong scents are discouraged by HR or the profession itself (healthcare and whatnot).I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything.
Yeah I think the bodywash/soap/deodorant scented today cuts back on the cologne.Might be a combination of scented body wash, scented deodorant, and/or working in a profession where strong scents are discouraged by HR or the profession itself (healthcare and whatnot).I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything.
I think it’s gotten a bad rep from people who bathe in it (often teenagers, it’s always a problem at school with kids dousing themselves in axe body spray) and old school colognes not smelling very good. I wear some everyday but it’s subtle and you can’t smell it unless you’re in my personal space. My wife likes how it smells- really every GF I’ve had has commented how much they like it. Which I guess is why I’ve stuck with it all these years. Light Blue by Dolce and Gabana is my current go to for most days. It just smells clean and fresh.I get the work part, but tone in the thread from many is that cologne is gross and people don't wear it outside of work either. Username checks out.Well, I have to admit I'm a bit shuked by the responses. I had no idea any of you old dudes actually wore cologne, except maybe @offdee. When I posted I had just finished a project in my shop and was chuckling to myself about how I was going to smell like Kroil penetrating oil for the foreseeable future. For those of you that have never used it, it has a very distinct smell. Some consider it repugnant. I don't mind it so much but I was thinking there are days when it's kinda my version of cologne.

I don’t wear it either. My wife and I both sensitive to heavily scented stuff. I don’t think I could be around my wife if she was the perfume type, or liked scented candles, etc. Shampoo/body wash/deodorant enough.I get the work part, but tone in the thread from many is that cologne is gross and people don't wear it outside of work either. The bolded describes me as well. That was a scent I had for a bit, now I switched to the Hawthorne stuff. Nothing fancy, but they are mostly how you describe - not overpowering and musky, more light and breezy.I think it’s gotten a bad rep from people who bathe in it (often teenagers, it’s always a problem at school with kids dousing themselves in axe body spray) and old school colognes not smelling very good. In the younger years plain soap and right guard spray really didn't give you that scented fresh feeling![]()
