Favorite Cologne? (1 Viewer)

I actually wear a little. Stumbled on Hawthorne brand and website a few years ago and liked a few of their scents, so that is what I rotate through.

Don’t really wear it. Last bottle i bought was a Kenneth Cole one. Round bottle. Ended up giving what was left to my son who used it for a while until it was gone. He asked for more for Christmas. Had to go to ebay as they don’t make it the same and pricey for a small bottle but he wanted it

I wear it, but rotate through the “water scents”. Here’s my last 2 and current:

Dolce Gabbana Light Blue
Lacoste
Versace Pour Homme

Surprised this is a thing still. But now and then, Old Spice under arm deodorant, for fun. Simply go from the arm pits to the neck area and you're set. Two seconds.

Works like a charm. Get second smells all the time. The rest is up to you.

Oud Wood by Tom Ford in fall/winter, Aventus by Creed in spring/summer.

Not the real thing; have you priced that stuff? There's a place that makes amazing knockoffs and sells mini roll-ons for dirt cheap. They last for months. There is nothing I buy on the Web that I would endorse higher than these folks.

Thought for sure I liked another post where someone mentioned Canoe but I don't see it now. Hope I'm not going crazy.

I switch between Nautica Voyage and Calvin Klien Chrome.

Both are great with my body chemistry.

We have come a long way from our 80’s go to of Drakkar Noir lol

I think it's weirder that it seems most of you don't use anything.
Might be a cultural or geographic thing because no one I know, or am friends with, use it. I associate more with old men - much older than this old man.
The cologne game is stong in WI, at least at our store. My son and his age group mostly, but all ages included.

I always have used some, but use it sparingly. Very easy to overpower. Not sure ive ever used a full bottle of anything.

Might be a combination of scented body wash, scented deodorant, and/or working in a profession where strong scents are discouraged by HR or the profession itself (healthcare and whatnot).
I get the work part, but tone in the thread from many is that cologne is gross and people don't wear it outside of work either. Many body washes are as potent and pungent as cologne too.

Yeah I think the bodywash/soap/deodorant scented today cuts back on the cologne.

In the younger years plain soap and right guard spray really didn't give you that scented fresh feeling :)

I think it’s gotten a bad rep from people who bathe in it (often teenagers, it’s always a problem at school with kids dousing themselves in axe body spray) and old school colognes not smelling very good. I wear some everyday but it’s subtle and you can’t smell it unless you’re in my personal space. My wife likes how it smells- really every GF I’ve had has commented how much they like it. Which I guess is why I’ve stuck with it all these years. Light Blue by Dolce and Gabana is my current go to for most days. It just smells clean and fresh.

Well, I have to admit I'm a bit shuked by the responses. I had no idea any of you old dudes actually wore cologne, except maybe @offdee. When I posted I had just finished a project in my shop and was chuckling to myself about how I was going to smell like Kroil penetrating oil for the foreseeable future. For those of you that have never used it, it has a very distinct smell. Some consider it repugnant. I don't mind it so much but I was thinking there are days when it's kinda my version of cologne.

You're the male version of those hippy women that always smell like expired potpourri.

I don’t wear it either. My wife and I both sensitive to heavily scented stuff. I don’t think I could be around my wife if she was the perfume type, or liked scented candles, etc. Shampoo/body wash/deodorant enough.

The bolded describes me as well. That was a scent I had for a bit, now I switched to the Hawthorne stuff. Nothing fancy, but they are mostly how you describe - not overpowering and musky, more light and breezy.

This is me. When my girls were in middle school and the doused themselves in body spray I would have to literally drive them to school with my head hanging out of the window.

I've hit the combo that works for me without cologne. Now every time I'm hooking up with a new girl it's inevitable when they start to get in close, it's an 'oooh, you smell good' and it's hard to hold back a laugh because it's every. time. and it's just body wash and a few spritzes of a body spray. I guess the key is just finding the right scent that works with your normal self.
