Footballguy
An obscure poll, but these two guys were once awesome.
America is my favorite.moonhead said:none of the above. the boxer is really good, but i think my favorite would be either america or richard cory.
It's a good choice. When that song hits the "Sail on Silvergirl" verse towards the end with the harmonies and orchestral swell and piano, it's among the most beautiful pieces of music ever.Relatively surprised to see S&G fans here. Loved them. It was always The Boxer, but I heard Bridge the other day and it has been so long that I moved it up my list to the top.
And he beds Ediie Brickell every night.Paul Simon ranks near the top of American songwriters, too many good ones to choose.
Big S+G fan.
I'd have to say my favorite is pretty obscure:
The Only Living Boy in New York off of Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Just a beautifully crafted pop song and overshadowed by all the hits on that album.
Well he DID have to put up with Carrie Fisher first. And he beds Ediie Brickell every night.Paul Simon ranks near the top of American songwriters, too many good ones to choose.
Boxer for me, and it isn't even close.
Agree. Anyone that doesn't pick Boxer is an idiot (IMHO).Boxer for me, and it isn't even close.

Art Garfunkel had a beautiful voice. It's a good choice. When that song hits the "Sail on Silvergirl" verse towards the end with the harmonies and orchestral swell and piano, it's among the most beautiful pieces of music ever.Relatively surprised to see S&G fans here. Loved them. It was always The Boxer, but I heard Bridge the other day and it has been so long that I moved it up my list to the top.I'm listening to it right now. No matter how many times I hear it, that part gives me goosebumps.
My thoughts as well. They have a great catalog of music.I wish I was ... Homeward Bound. But "The Boxer" is right up there.
And he beds Ediie Brickell every night.Paul Simon ranks near the top of American songwriters, too many good ones to choose.
came in to post thisNot a mention for Scarborough Fair?
I always dug "Baby Driver"
Personally, I like Yes's version a little better.Other - America
Vote for them all, he screwed up the poll.Having a hard time between The Boxer, Scarborough Fair, Mrs. Robinson, Sounds of Silence and Bridge OTW.All time great duo.
Fixed. Those lyrics were left out of the studio cut, but they always sang/sing that verse live.I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises.
All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm
When I left my home and my family, I's no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared, laying low,
Seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go,
Looking for the places only they would know.

Asking only workman's wages, I come lookin' for a job,
But I get no offers,
Just a come-on from the whores on 7th Avenue.
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there.

now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin evenly
i am older than i once was
and younger than i'll be that's not unusual.
no it isnt strange after changes upon changes we are more or less the same
after changes we are more or less the same

And I'm laying out my winter clothes and wishing I was gone,
goin' home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleedin' me, leadin' me,
goin' home.
In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains.
