favorite 'techno' song... or (1 Viewer)

Anyone know much about a band called Cirrus? A couple of their songs have popped up on Pandora for me and I liked them, but I don't think I've ever heard of them before.

They had some popular songs many moons ago, "Stop and Panic" being most notable. Around 1999 I reckon. I haven't heard anything from them recently though.

I just signed up for emusic again - 105 songs for $10.

So far, I've grabbed Cirrus, Gus Gus, Boards of Canada, Tony Faline, Vanisher, Future Sound of London, Chiasm, and Dot Allison.

I've got about 50 downloads left, and it seems like everything I search for is not in their catalog. I'm going to have to dig deep, I think.

I'm open to suggestions.

Not completely sure if this fits into this catagory, but I was recently introduced to "Thievery Corporation"... has a bit more of a funk/raggae/electronica vibe to it... very nice. Check out these two tracks to see if you like them...- Warning Shots- Lebanese Blonde
huge fan of TC and other "downtempo" or "chillout" music:AirMorcheebaMassive AttackLebanese Blonde is a real keeper - mmmm sitar
Dude, just picked up Moon Safari by Air. What a great chillout album. All I Need is awesome, and the sounds in Kelly Watch the Stars are rediculous.
Air is awesome. Talkie Walkie is a good CD, as well. See them live if you have a chance. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Anyone ever heard of Asphalt Jungle? I just grabbed about six of their songs - very interesting stuff, kind of like Crystal Method with a really heavy guitar thrown in - guitar sort of like the music at the beginning of Bowflex or from Green Day's Brain Stew.

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I've been pimping that jam for a long time. Did you read about that here, or is it a coincidence?
No...I've heard it on Sirius 34 Boombox for the past few months.Love it.
Then you need to get yourself some Seb Fontaine CDs. Prototype I and Prototype II feature a lot of amazing hard trance jams.
I can't take a full CDs worth of hard trance anymore. Breakbeats seem to fit my style more so than anything else.:old:

I dig. I only listen to techno when I am working. Helps me concentrate.

Anything new in trance that I should be checking out?

I enjoy what I hear, but I'm not yet fully up to speed. Been checking up the ASOT (Armin) releases but am more than a few weeks behind (episode 346). Anything to check out?

Of all the Rabbit in the Moon songs, this one to me is the best thing they ever did. Still holds up over 10 years later, might be a tad slow for you speed freaks but I still think it sounds absolutely euphoric when your smokin down a bowl. I have the original on vinyl, early to mid 90s was a grand time to be going out into the late night scene in Orlando/Tampa...anyone remember Kimball Collins and Stace Bass at Ahzz? Icey exploded out of the Edge, and Rabbit in the Moon tore up the Florida scene then spread out everywhere.

I like the initial drop as the song gets going and then it really explodes into what I use to describe as doors within the songs and drops you into a very nice place.

Thievery Corporation released a new album yesterday called "radio retaliation"

I just downloaded it.. will report back.. track one = solid

Check out The Disco Biscuits.

Will be unlike anything you have heard.

Jamband-Trance-Techno-very, very good
i came here to post about an artist called OTT... he is on the bill with the DBs at the LA HoBs in april...just discovered OTT, who was the engineer for shpongle (brainchild of simon posford), which is in the psybient genre (psychedelic ambient), and has roots in goa trance (techno with indian beats)... OTT could also fall into the psybient genre, but you can also hear eclectic influences from jamaican dub & german electronica... he has two CDs (blumencraft & skylon), & i'll post a few representative youtube links below... he employs some very classy & tasty beats, effortlessly mixing in indian, middle eastern & african rhythms... it reminds me a bit of thievery corp., which seems to be popular here...

queen of all everything (from 2008s skylon)... ethereal yet massive (psy-chill/psy-trance?), builds nicely...

OTTs myspace music page (check billy the kid strikes back sample)...

* a taste of shpongle (star shpongled banner, set to some bizarre animation, so fitting it COULD have been written for it)...
