Put yourself in the GM's seat of your favorite team and tell me which one you would rather have for 2008.

Very easy. I want to have a chance at the Super Bowl and not worried about the future. Even though with drafting Brohm, we are still sit at QB. I would trade Rodgers and hope to get a Schuabb type of deal in the end. Lets go for the gold and Brett is the one that will help achieve this IMO.

Plus Brett is fun to watch

An open competition in training camp for the job.

At this point, the players on the team deserve to play with whomever is better. If Farve is better than Rodgers, then Farve. If Rodgers outplays him in camp and preseason, then Rodgers should play. If Rodgers did outplay him and won the job and Farve couldn't handle sitting the bench, then his players on the team would see him as someone who isn't really a team guy.

How could Farve not want his teammates to play with the best QB on the team? If that's still Farve, then that's awesome. But with him retiring and yanking everyone's chain, I'd make him prove it on the field. The fans deserve it and most importantly the players on the team deserve it.

Give me Rodgers!! Favre has not done anything in years. All this BS that he gives the team the best chance is a bunch of Favre fans that dont understand that this is a team sport. Ted built this team up to be ready to win when Brett rode off into the sunset.

Favre has been a burden in the playoffs. Forced the ball against the Giants, hail mary against the Eagles and how many picks against the Rams??? Ryan Grant and the line won the game against the SeaChickens.

Take your heart out of the choice and you will see Brett needs to take the high road an call it a career.

He's wanted out since Thompson arrived.
At best I think it would be mutual. I could see people saying that Thompson wanted Favre out when he arrived.

And Favre did not get the Packers back into the Seahawks game given the 14 point deficit Grant put us in? And, if people want to claim Favre cost the Packers the Giants game, fine, I won't try to change your mind. However, the whole Packers team was outplayed that day and the Packers were lucky to even be in overtime.

4157 yards and 28 TDs...sounds washed up to me  Rodgers comes in and has a decent game against the Cowboys and all of a sudden he's the second coming. Get your HEAD out and the choice is clearly Favre.Does it matter to you that Rodgers gets hurt every time he takes the field?

Sure it's a concern but he wasn't an injury risk in college and looked good against Dallas. At some point someone else needs to take over. I really thought Favre would play 2 more years. He really screwed up and retired.

Hey what was the final score on that game btw? I forgot and I have no idea how to look it up.

Be careful what you wish for!

I agree, Favre has been acting selfishly, but he is a proven player that gives the team the best chance to win. The other thing to look at is that, even though the Packers are a VERY young team, in this era of free agecny, the Packers will not be able to keep all the top young players well into the future. It is a win now league and building a team through the draft is a bit more difficult than it used to be - even though the Packers draft record has been really good.

:lmao: rodgers getting 35% of this vote is one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen.

So you're forced to choose between one of the greatest QBs of all time in the twilight of his career and a first year starter with no experience whatsoever and 37% will go with the nobody. Makes sense...

As a Seahawks fan I had to vote Favre.

I think it would be pretty epic watching Favre and Holmgren making one last superbowl run together in their final season... Presuming there isn't this non-sense next year of course...heh

 This is where I'm at. I want to see an open competition. Favre brought this on himself and he knows it.That said, without an open competition it's Favre hands down. We know what we're getting with Favre. With Rodgers it's still a mystery and with the team they have RIGHT NOW, Favre is quite obviously the correct choice here.

Agreed, the whole team was to blame including Harris getting burned by Burress multiple times didn't help either.

this open competition talk is also crazy.

i assume it comes from an annoyance with how favre has acted, but in reality it simply wouldn't work.

it still leaves the possibility of having favre backup rodgers, which, unless the packers are crazy, isn't an option.

a wink-wink competition is pointless.

even if the idea of it made sense, i'm not sure how practice/pre-season reps could possibly take compete with a 16 year HOF body of work.

people need to get over it. not all starting jobs in the NFL are an open competition in training camp (i'd guess less than 25% are).

i've also seen some wonder what it would do to the rest of the players morale if the packers yanked rodgers opportunity away from him.

to me, it seems that shunning favre would have the greater negative impact. rodgers is essentially being given the reigns to a playoff team even though he never earned it.

it lets players know how they may be treated after 16 years of service. if favre can be brushed aside for a completely unproven player, what kind of treatment might they expect as veterans?

i realize favre taking the job from rodgers would be unseemly at first, but the players will be okay if the team is trying to win. (i assume the players aren't as fired up rebuilding as the the fans seem to be right now)

Here comes the injury issue. Will people realize that Brett Favre was one of a kind that he never got hurt. Most QBs get hurt during the season, take look back at seasons and you will see at least half the NFL QBs got injured and missed time. These things happen so you have a backup QB.Favre has a great year because McCarthy had reeled him in and kept him on track not like Mike "Pear Shaped Loser" Sherman. Sherman let Favre run around and do what he wanted. Brett also had the most talented team since the Packers won the Super Bowl with him. Explain to my Favre people why did he not dump the ball off on the interception to end the Giant game?? Was it his ego wanting him to be the hero once again or just another one of his bad reads?

For this upcoming season I'd want Favre in a heartbeat. AND I want someone like Holmgrem or McCarthy to coach the team and keep Favre on a tight leash.

After Farve's amazing season why someone would want an unproven commodity like Rodgers is beyond me. Favre forgot more about football then Rodgers knows about football.
